I have an issue with the 187s being so bulky. If you're not knee sliding (like street skating), do you need to have the bulky pads, or will the Triple 8s be the better choice being slimmer?

You also have to take the person's weight into account for the slides. The heavier the person the better the slide on the ramp. Which is why Ricky was the best on the ramp and always consistent.
I was more interested in how they felt on impact. The Killer pads have a lot more padding in them vs the thinner padding on the others. So when slamming to the ground, how well did the thinner ones work?
Here are some things I would have liked to know about the triple eight "Street" kneepads - Do they make doing flatground tricks more difficult? - Are they comfortable to wear? - Do they stay on? - Do they offer any impact protection?

I used to swear by 187's but recently I tried TSG Force 3's and they wipe the floor with the 187's. They're about the same price, but feel a lot more comfortable and they do more sizes.
I'm planning on getting the tsg force V, seeing how much padding they have. I have arthritis in my left knee and want to protect my knees as best I can. But in also planning on getting roller skates.
They should have some derby players test pads out. Trust me, they definitely have opinions on which are the best gear to protect your stuff from getting messed up.
Also 187s have replaceable caps!! Once you wear through the plastic, you can buy a new plastic part to replace it. You can also pull off the plastic caps to wash the pads. All around fantastic. I don’t love how big they are, but it’s heard great things about Smith Scabz, TSG, and S1 knee pads if you’re in the market for something similar to 187s!
You guys need a 15" wooden rod or metal pipe about 1"-1 1/2" in diameter, wrap that cable twice around the rod, put about half a roll of duck tape on either side of the cable to prevent it from sliding back and forth, and hang on!
Those pro-tec pads may not be the best, for skating or anything, but they definitely saved my knees from obliteration when I used to downhill mountain bike

Hello! Triple 8 KP 22 are not the “pros” model. If you want to compare best against best you need to be fair and compare pro models vs. pro models. The 187 pro competes with the triple 8 KP Pro.

If you're going to be ponying up $120 for off the shelf pads I'd be considering dropping a bit more for some Pro Designed Inc pads. Made by skaters, for skaters, in Houston since 1986. Custom sizes at no extra cost (best description of the. I've heard '...like landing on marshmallows')

I've had both. I skate bowls at parks. Had a knee injury and regular pads were better than nothing, but Vert 187's are like pillow for your knees.

I wear those protec knee pads when I longboard. They've saved me a few times.

Great video testing the knee pads but please be careful. As someone who has knee pains at 28 don't take for granted your body.
Skate tip from a transition skater, take a little skate wax and rub it on the plastic part. you'll slide better.
