    My thanks to Spektrum RC and Horizon Hobby for sending me the new Spektrum DX5C radio to test and review! This 5 Channel radio offers a lot of bang for your buck, and I spend an exhaustive 20 minutes going through all it's features and menus in great detail.
    It's rich feature set, and easy to navigate menus makes it the perfect upgrade from your RTR radio.

    Dude thank you for putting up a 19 minute video! For real! seriously not to be weird but I look forward to your videos. Thanks for sharing them. I'm super psyched about this budget build! I think it's going to be awesome for people like you said, coming in to the Hobby or even starting something different. The video space / office / work space / shelves are awesome! Great job even though the ones before were awesome. Still, I get where you're coming from. Big thumbs up can't wait for the next videos!

      Not weird at all, I appreciate the feedback! Just wanted to clean up and organize the shop a bit more. Much cleaner, and easier to work in with the camera gear. Thanks for watching!

    Not sure if you are still using your DX5C but if so here is a thumb steer wheel I have recently designed as a replacement for the stock wheel, specifically to be able to 1 hand drive while capturing video. Anyhow, the videos are great, lots of good stuff and great info.

    I thought my monitor had gone bad then lol!
    I've had the DX4C for years, I like the look of this 5C though, aside from the rear/top mounted screen, I always preferred the side one, hence getting the 4C over the 4S.
    Does look promising though for someone running lots of lights and a winch.

      @scalebuildersguild  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @NotStephenColbert 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I figured that, since the other videos in the studio were much brighter. I look forward to the budget build videos. Your channel and the Harley Designs channel finally made me decide to grab the new 2017 JK. My friend and I have been into RC drifting for a couple months now, but my friend has a mountain ridge in his backyard, and my farm goes back into the woods a good couple miles so we are going to get into the whole crawler scene as well.

    I never was a fan of Flysky AT ALL. Like if I showed up to the track back maybe 6 years or so I would have been laughed out of the building
    Also same with hobbywing set up or trying to win with a Traxxas Bandit...!
    BUT THE GT-5 is honestly COMPLETELY DIFFERENT...ITS DESIGNED BY Team Magic/TeamRedcat that are the same company and built by Turnigy and race inspired by Kyosho as a race spec controller that's why I got one for 68.00 dollars and it whoops my Futaba 3pk and that was double. Anyway I just want my autographed Adam Drake custom $2,500 dollar SPEKTREM and I'm good...LOL I wish!

      @@scalebuildersguild Have you discovered what the 'speed' function is about? Is it possible to increase and reduce the amount of throttle power? E.g. I want to have 40% of the speed (both forward and reverse) so I can let my little brother run my rc as well. Can I do that with that function?

  • @Lybra19JTD
    @Lybra19JTD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i have DX4S, it have better ergonomics and dont look so cheap. it have 30 models memory nd you can extend it by putting in SD memory card. But it is nice to have cheap radio from spektrum, but you have to take in consideration, that you buy Radio fot 105USD and reciever will cost you 80USD 6CH. yep, this radios have to be free to recievers, because in spektrum, recievers price is painpoint.

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But not 5 channels, which I'll need for a couple upcoming builds. Receivers are always expensive, but these are more reasonable than what I was paying for Futaba's. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @Lybra19JTD
      @Lybra19JTD 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is true. there is flysky radio gt3-c which can be upgraded to 8CH, so i think that the same can be done with Spektrum if someone will do it. And yes, Futaba are expensive. I have all models with spektrum, but for older users it is issue, because DSM and DSM2 recievers are not compatible with new radios due to DSMR protocol only. So this is little bit bad news with new radios. But if it is your First spektrum, than yes, price/what you get is very good here. Cheaper radios have problems with signals when Spektrum is used nearby. But for 100USD have 5CH radio, really good deal

    The flysky/turnigy Gt-5 beats this transmitter in everyway. This controller is basically the same as the old DX3C. The gt5 is faster then this spectrum BUT we are talking .04 of a second response barely but it's not faster then the Futaba 3pv by like 5/8ths of a second. Also the gyro actually works on the gt5 and it has a lit LCD screen LIPO ready it's a 6 channel. The gt5 is more in with the 4pv with a 90 dollar price tag. I use my 3PV for my losi8 4.0 and I use the gt5 for 3 drift cars 2 trx4"s and my scx10 BECAUSE OF THE CRAWL MODE. Also I use it for my Hobao hyper VS .30 TURBO AND A FEW OTHERS cars. When I bought the transmitter I purchased 10 receivers AND HAVEN'T HAD ONE GLITCH YET. I WAS SPONCERED BY TEAM ASSOCIATED, SPEKTREM ALSO NOVAK BACK IN 08 SO I AM A HUGE SPEKTREM FAN BUT THE GT5 IS JUST ALL AROUND BETTER transmitter for what you need its easier to program. A lot more bang for the buck...BUT JUST CAUSE I SAY IT DON'T MAKE IT TRUE IN MY OPINION ITS PERSONAL PREFERENCE when you are in these step up 100.00 radio's. Now the 500.00 to 1,000 dollar radios are in a league of there own.

    10:31 - It's got Torque Dampening?? AKA Traction Control? THAT'S COOL!!! It keeps your Rig from being too jumpy, or losing traction, like during Technical Turns.
    I may never have 20 Rigs.... I'm just trying to make it on a Disabled Veteran's weakly pay. 😭😖 MAYBE I can get one as a gift...
    I CAN use 5 Channels. Throttle, Steering, running lights, Rock Lights, Winch! Great Review Matt!!

      Matt, the timer is for racing. Also, the AVC isn't something you'll want on a crawler at all. It's good for new drivers but inhibits experienced ones, for bashing and racing. However, you can adjust its sensitivity. It's a gyro and traction control; I also believe it will help level out a jumping vehicle on its own in the air depending on the sensitivity setup.

    Wouldn't it make sense to research all the stuff you don't know before making a review video? That way you don't have to keep saying "I need to check this out and see what does"
    BTW, servo speed is how fast the steering turns. So if you have a fast servo and want more scale looking steering in your truck, you can slow it down from the radio
