Absolutely loved the Skullmageddon character. They really knocked it out of the park with him. Equal parts cool look, respect to the intended era, and humor.
It's crazy to me how this is really campy and goofy in a way that seems to clearly parody a certain style of music, but it also just unironically kicks ass??? It's actually really well made and I can't help but get into it
The funny thing is that it invokes very real force of will. In part precisely BECAUSE it is clearly campy. As in it intentionally means to sound like this, making it sound like a fool, but the heartful tone it conducts completely justifies it in "wearing" it's clown-ish attire. There are things to be said about entertainment that doesn't fear "looking stupid" if it's forcing a positive message which is, ultimately, immortal. Another good example of this: the entirety of The Wonderful 101.

The final battle against Chaos has this really awesome song called Open Your Heart at the end that borders on ill fitting because it’s a super saiyan hedgehog fighting a giant water dragon in a destroyed city. Sounds silly but by that point you’re so invested in the story and themes of it all. A lesser game like Bayonetta or something would have tried to play it for laughs but Sega manages to take a ridiculous scenario, play it straight and still pull on your heart strings.
