Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy - and make no mistake, although this video had the studio audio dubbed onto the live performance footage, they can and do always sing live while doing all the choreo, jumping up and down and so on.
Su-metal, the lead vocalist, has spoken about how she moves while recording and has learned so many breathing techniques for each song so that she can sing them almost perfectly while doing the choreo and even techniques for arenas at different altitudes. She has been singing professionally since she was 9 or 10 and was already attending a performing arts school for a year or two before then.
There are specific and short parts of certain songs that are on a backing track (along with extra instrumentation like keyboard, strings, piano and growling vocals), but those are very obvious and, unless the choreo calls for it, Su-metal won't even hold her mic to her mouth in those few parts.
They also sound even better live without the over-processed studio vocals and with the Kami Band (the musicians you spotted on the main stage) playing live.
We all like things that are familiar, so the traditional set up of a band with a couple of guitarists, bassist, drummer and singer is what we know best, its what we like and what we expect to see .... but forgive us if we try to get you past that as BABYMETAL do things their own way, they dare to be different, to try new things.
BABYMETAL formed in 2010 as a sub-unit of a JPop Idol group. They are the pet and passion project of their lifelong metalhead producer Kei Kobayashi who was inspired to try this untried fusion of JPop Idol aesthetics and vocals with metal after seeing the lead vocalist with her previous JPop trio and being so impressed with her unusual (for a JPop singer) loud singing style and stage presence that it gave him the idea she could front a metal band and not be drowned out by the loud music.
She was still only 10 or 11 when he first saw her.
After her trio disbanded (they were formed to sing the songs for an anime that only ran for a year), she was placed into a new school themed Idol group with 10 or 11 other girls, all aged between 10 and 15, which the talent agency Amuse was setting up as a means to train and educate the most talented girls on their books in all aspects of the entertainment industry with a view to them going on to follow whatever aspects they liked best or were best at as they furthered their careers after they turned 15.
Within the group sub-units, like after school clubs, were set up with maybe 3 or 4 of the girls in each one and given their own themed song and dance routines that they would perform in the Idol group's own shows and at Idol festivals, so there was a tennis club, a cooking club, a science club and so on - and Kobayashi set up the heavy music club with Suzuka Nakamoto, the girl he had seen a year or two before, as lead vocalist.
He also decided to add choreographed dance as something new to metal and chose Suzuka's two younger friends Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi to support her as backing vocalists, harmonies and dance (officially called "scream and dance"), but their role is mainly to hype the crowd and get everybody involved, jumping, pumping fists, chanting and singing along. They are one of the things that makes BABYMETAL different and not just another band following the traditional format.
When Suzuka was 15 it was time for her to graduate, but BABYMETAL had unexpectedly gained their own audience and were becoming popular, so it was decided that when she graduated BABYMETAL should go with her to be her and the other two girls' vehicle as they furthered their careers as singers and dancers.
So they separated from the parent group in 2013 to become an independent band in their own right.
BABYMETAL are Su-metal (now 24) and Moametal (she will be 23 in a couple of days from now) - the third original member, Yuimetal (just turned 23), sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues and had not fully recovered so was still unable to perform, so she announced she would be leaving the band and hoped to follow her own long held dreams.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo.
From the start of the 2019 tour and through 2020 and 2021 Su and Moa were supported by three dancers (the Avengers) who took turns to dance in the third spot (they did not have any vocals). They are Kano, Riho and Momoko. The third girl in this video was Kano.
With Yui and Moa (or more recently Moa and, other than the vocals, the chosen Avenger) what you will see them doing most is backing vocals and harmonies and dancing .... but their choreo serves at least two real purposes (it isn't just dance as you may know it from western pop acts where it is all largely standard and used to fill the stage or to give you some half naked girls (or boys) to look at the take you mind off bland music).
BABYMETAL's choreo serves to help with interpreting the lyrics or the meaning of songs, but mainly it is designed to get the crowd involved, to let them know they can jump, pump their fists, shout or chant. In Japan it is known as "ai no te", so Yui and Moa are in charge of hyping the crowd, getting them involved and feeling that they are part of the performance, not just observers.
Yui and Moa did have their own songs they would sing as a duo (known as Black BABYMETAL) while Su got a break back stage about half way through the shows - just as Su has solo songs she would perform alone while Yui and Moa got a rest.
Their backing band, the Kami Band, were phased in gradually from October 2012 playing festivals and encores in some shows. They became the full time backing band early in 2014. If the musicians in a video are wearing skeleton suits they were miming the instruments to a backing track - they were called 'Babybones' and were there for show (BABYMETAL didn't have the budget for live musicians early on - no pretence was made otherwise, everybody knew what they were doing). The Kami Band are the ones in traditional white burial robes and white corpse face paint (more recently in black robes and now wearing masks ... nobody likes the masks).
The Kami Band are among Japan's very best session musicians and can play anything. There have been many Kami Band members as they all have their own bands and projects and inevitably dates will clash, so they will swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of 6 or 7 musicians have played the majority of shows ever since 2013 and they are the ones you will see in most live performance videos.
For the 2019 and 2020 US and European tours the Kami Band of the West (American musicians from Galactic Empire on guitars and bass, Anthony Barone on drums) were introduced.
BABYMETAL will continue to surprise you - about 50 songs so far and every one you listen to will be different to the last ... and nearly all of them will be stuck in your head for days. They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will mix or blend in so many different styles and genres with the metal - usually when you least expect it. Some are straight, hard metal, some (like 'PA PA YA') lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between ... they are unpredictable and they never get boring.
'PA PA YA' is a song about a spicy green papaya fruit salad ... but it is also a summer festival song. On top of all that it is about life and how adding and mixing the right spices can make that better and more tasty as well.
F Hero was guest vocalist for this song, he is a rapper from Thailand. He flew in to Japan specially for the first two shows of the 2019 tour to guest in this song as it made its world debut. This was filmed at the second night in Yokohama. He was rapping in Thai to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle.
It looks like you already have suggestions for more songs - and live performances as that is where BABYMETAL are always at their best (the official videos are all good and worth seeing, but live is their main focus).

I'm 54 and a metal head having seen most major bands in 40 years of gigs - Babymetal are the real deal believe me!! My last concert pre covid was Babymetal and was totally electric. Some metal purists just dismiss them out of hand describing them as a gimmick but they show a total misunderstanding of cultural differences. The original Kami Band (backing band) had some of the best musicians in the world - you saw a more up to date performance here with the Kami Band West, who are mostly American musicians but equally gifted. Su and Moa are consumate professionals and are delightful people! Recommended songs : 'Rondo of Nightmare' , 'Megitsune', 'Karate' (live or video) , ' Road of Resistance' , ''Syncopation' , 'Headbanger' , 'Akatsuki', 'The One', 'No Rain no Rainbow' , 'Amore' , 'Night Night Burn', 'BxMxC' . Hopefully you'll play more - take care of yourselves 😃 🙂

Welcome to the fox hole guys. That was the studio version of the song because you did watch the official music video. Su-Metal (the lead singer) does absolutely sing live in concert and also does all that choreography, both flawlessly, she trains hard for it. There's no wrong place to start with Babymetal but to check out her amazing vocals something like Ijime, Dame, Zettai (live at sonisphere 2014) or Akatsuki (live at budokan black night) would be good. Babymetal is always best served live. Hope you guys do more! Kitsunes up (you'll understand that later).

Babymetal started out as three performers, Su, Moa and Yui. Yui stopped performing in 2017 due to health issues. any newer videos will show therr performers, but the one with her hair just tied back (not the ponytail) is called an "Avenger" she just dances in what was Yui's spot, you will notice she has no mic. As for what is next, it really depends on what you like because Babymetal has so many styles. But for started I would suggest Headbanger (Legend 1997, the day after Su's 16th birthday), Road of Resistance (Live from Japan) or Karate (Download 2016 I think is one of the preferred versions) for starters. If you want to get a better look of the band (which technically isnt part of Babymetal) they have a nice intro for the song Rondo of Nightmare

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy 🦊🤘
We know Amuse is very hard to deal with copyright blocked issues, fortunately we got a way to go around with "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel, you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. You'll find some watermarked clips in the channel also with the description and where to get the non-logo version.
You can also put some heavy opacity and translucent effect to avoid those issues.
However there are some safe clips to react like those from Legend 1997 or some of Budokan 2014 or previous to this year and Festivals that is out of reach from Amuse hands.
You won't have troubles uploading clean live compilations, most of the time of course, but by all means AVOID live compilations at least for first time watching, not saying all of them are bad but chances are you'll end up facing the bad ones bad edited, very confusing, switching costumes and distracting you from the performance and meaning of the song. Also avoid Glastonbury Festival performance, the sound is bad and the crowd isn't the usual fans.
Here's some examples of safe to react live performances:
    - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013) or Legend I (2012).
    - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters.
    - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at GuilhermeCait channel or live at MetroRock 2015 in Babymetal Reactor Resource channel under the title "CMIYC".
    - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014
    - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016.
There's no report to this day from anyone being blocked using BMRR watermarked logo so there you go.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist.
    *MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
This song belongs to their 3rd "Metal Galaxy" album, the concept is more mature than previous albums and is about an odyssey travelling all over the world and gathering different rhythms and combining with their unique sound, such Indian, Latin, European folk, Thai Rap and more.
In this case they're joining forces with a top artist and Thai rapper F. Hero singing a party summer festival song to celebrate the mixing culture between Thai and Japanese, just like a papaya salad, but as an allegory of life.

Welcome to the Babymetalverse! The music video you watched used the studio track version of the song for the audio but the band and vocals are live at the concerts. Su-metal (the lead singer) is an unbelievably stable vocalist even whilst doing the strenuous choreography. You really gotta see it to believe it. Most of Babymetal's music videos (even the ones shot at live concerts) use the studio track. One that doesn't is their song "Road of Resistance" th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html
It also features the band members a lot more who will also impress you. If the song reminds you have Dragonforce it's because they collaborated on that song together.

They used the same moving stage type that METALLICA used on their last tour. The girls are big fans of the band so it's not surprising they used the same stage set-up. Four double stacked scissor lifts (8 total lifts) on a Versa Mobilator track system with show control all supporting 25,000 lbs. of effects for BABYMETAL at The Forum in LOS ANGELES 10-11-2019. BABYMETAL dreamed of someday opening up for the legendary metal group Metallica that dream came true at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. As one might expect from the trio, they absolutely rocked the stage! Kicking off Metallica's Seoul show on January 11, 2017, BABYMETAL opened the night with an explosive 6-song set. NOTE- THIS VIDEO IS NOT FROM THE LOS ANGELES SHOW, BUT THE STAGE IS THE SAME SET-UP THEY USED AT THE FORUM SHOW IN LOS ANGELES...…

Ok watched you for quite awhile. Babymetal is legit metal. They have toured with Metallica, Korn, Avatar, Bring Me the Horizon and Sabaton amongst others. They have also performed on stage with the Metal God himself, Rob Halford. The band aka Kami Band is world class and tight as hell. Babymetal mixes all kinds of metal genres with pop undertones. Seriously power metal, progressive metal, Viking metal, black metal etc.. pa Pa Ya is a light fun concert song for them. I strongly suggest you check out the live performance of Ijime Dame Zettai from Sonisphere 2014. This was a huge metal festival in the UK with giants like Metallica and Maiden performing later that day. The girls were just taking off and Su was 16 and Yui and Moa just turned 15. Most of the crowd was curious or flat out skeptical of this “gimmick” band IDZ was the set closer and just watch the crowd reaction. Note you will also see way more of the Kami Band.

Papaya is a tropical fruit, this is a MV so it was the studio version over a live show, the lead singer Su-metal sings live always, sometimes the backing vocals are on a track but this is usually when Moametal the one with the two pigtails is doing physical dancing. The Rapper is F.Hero and is from Thailand, the girls are Japanese. Often reactors complain they can't see the band but forget they are watching an edited video, if you are actually at the show you can see the band for the entire show (they spend more time on stage than the girls do) The stage set up is designed so that people at the back can get to see the girls up close also not just the ones in the first few rows as most concerts are. The stage they are on moves forwards and back and also up and down, you may also notice the huge led screens behind them that also help visually. I hope this answers some of your questions, I am sure others will give you more info 🤘🦊🤘

Babymetal is heavy metal theater. There has been no one (maybe 70s Alice Cooper), like them and I doubt anybody can replicate their production artistry in the metal scene in a long time. Oh, and the girls started fronting Babymetal when they were pre-teens. If you can get past the fact that the girls, who are young women now, don't write their songs and just focus on the resulting singing+dancing craft and perfectly-executed musical production, you'll be blown away by how much these three teeny tiny ladies were able to achieve in their young lives.
Enjoy your trip down the fox hole!
PS.. Babymetal belongs to that special class of bands that must be experienced LIVE. So react to their live performances. You'll be richly rewarded.

I never had any interest in J-pop, but got into Babymetal because of Rob Halford. Stayed mainly for Su-Metal (the one in the middle), who is an amazing performer and fantastic at crowd control. (Not to take away from the other performers.) Definitely go live next time! Here's a suggestion that isn't one of their most-reacted-to songs: Syncopation. It sounds like a Fullmetal Alchemist theme song to me: th-cam.com/video/Odb9Zy0YdOc/w-d-xo.html

There is really no wrong place to start with Babymetal, but usually it is preferable to start with earlier tracks from the first 2 albums so you get the initial experience of the original 3, Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal - Lead singer, a.k.a. the Angel of Song),Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal, a.k.a. the Angel of Dance - not present in this video as she left the group in 2018 for health reasons) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal, a.k.a. the Angel of Love - Wearing the twin tails)
The third dancer in this video was Kano Fujihara, one of 3 rotating dancers called Avengers who were brought in to dance Yui's choreography, but do not sing and do not have microphones.
The girls were 10 and 12 years old when Babymetal first formed. To see how small and young they were, check out "Doki Doki Morning", Uki Uki Midnight" or "Iine!" (NOT "Line!" despite what the streaming services title it) or "Ijime, Dame, Zettai".
While Su and Moa were 19 - 21 in this video, Kano was still only 14 years old and was still a member of the school-themed Idol Group Sakura Gakuin that Babymetal was originally a sub-unit of until Su graduated out of at completion of Junior High school (the end of compulsory education in Japan) in 2012. Yui and Moa graduated out in 2014 at which time Babymetal was finally able to tour outside of Japan.
Yui celebrated her 23rd birthday this past June and Moa celebrated her 23rd this past July 4th. Su will turn 25 in december.
If you still want to see/her the newer songs, I recommend "BxMxC" (Bring Moa Chicken! , lol) but watch the Live version, not the official. They used way too much auto-tune on Su's vocals in the studio when it was completely unnecessary.
Also, there are the 4 "Black Babymetal" songs which feature Yui and Moa without Su, "GJ!", "Onedari Daiskusen", "Song 4" and "Sis. Anger" as well as Su's 4 Solo songs, "Rondo of Nightmare", "No Rain, No Rainbow", "Akastuki" and "Amore".
Whatever song you pick from their 50+ song catalog, always expect the unexpected and know there is not a single bad track or throw-away track among them.

    ⚡ 💕 / 🌶 🌞
The song had it's world debut the previous night, which was also their first show of 2019, both concerts at Yokohama Arena.
'PA PA YA!!' is a Summer festival party song. Matsuri Da! (It's a festival!)
I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand.
His rap was all in Thai.
The lyrics in the rap section mention Som Tam (spicy Thai papaya salad) and they incorporated some traditional Thai instruments during that part of the song.
This was a suggestion from the folks who were working on F.HERO's studio recording for this track in Thailand along with BABYMETAL's producer Koba.
Although record labels love to use studio tracks for music videos (including this one) lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or "Su") sounds great live.
She can sing while dancing, but if you watch carefully you'll see that the dancers beside her often have more strenuous choreography.

    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a third girl filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. This girls is known as an Avenger her name is Momoko Okazaki (18 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e)
    Headbangya
    Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018)
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.
Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all)
    Distortion
Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story if they claim it is they are 100% lying to you.)
Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020)
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
    Music Videos of this Era
    Pa Pa Ya
    Elevator Girl
    Shanti Shanti
    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.
COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021)
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows since COVID pandemic they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger.

      Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-Current)
The band is stepping back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. Don't let stupid fans fool you the band is not on hiatus or ending. They are idiots and deserves to be made fun of as they’ve been working on new material.
Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round.
BM's producer Kei Kobayashi also put out a biography in early September, and all proceeds will go to the Babymetal team not for himself. Once again don't let even more idiot fans fool you the band isn't going broke... This fandom is filled with a lot of them sadly. Recently since April 2022 they've been putting out very tiny snippets of 10 new songs in the works sadly these are just a few second clips.

    Welcome to the BabyMetal Galaxy.
My hope is that you enjoyed watching these young ladies and their world class backing band The Kami Band.
You will get many suggestions to react to song/performances and I am going to give you my direct and honest opinion.
React to them LIVE whenever possible. Only the most talented and professional bands can say this and their LIVE performances are next level, (some of the official MV’s are good - like Megitsune and Karate) but if you do react to an MV I would definitely react to the LIVE performance as well.
BabyMetal has over 50 LIVE song/performances….and every one is different. They are fearless, exploring new music genres and NAILING them. With that said I suggest the following LIVE performances for new reactors in no particular order:
    Headbanger LIVE
Road of Resistance Live in Japan
    Megitsune LIVE
Kagerou LIVE (with Kami Band intro)
Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band intro)
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK (60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls - safe from copyright block)
    BxMxC LIVE (kurokiitsunesama compilation)
These are just a few of many but they will give you a great understanding of who they are before exploring the rest of their music catalog. Compilations are great as they are rarely blocked (as long as you know what they are going in, so as to avoid confusion). I suggest that if you do react to a compilation you choose videos done by kurokiitsunesama. (Ferr also does a good job with BabyMetal compilations). Compilations are rarely copyright blocked and give you a good idea of the crowds/different venues and shows that no matter where or when BabyMetal performs they go full out every performance.
Avoid any LIVE performance from Glastonbury (the sound production by the BBC was incompetent)
Do not react to these until later:
All solos (including Rondo of Nightmare)
    Oh Majinai
    Tales of the Destinies
    BabyMetal Death
My opinions of course. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Definitely give more of their songs a listen to, this is later/newer stuff...which mixes a lot of different music styles (something they have done since the beginning). They experiment with different things, so there is a variety in their songs.
You should check their early songs and watch them grow. There is a lot to unpack with Babymetal, but it is worth it.
Gimmie Chocolate was their breakout song and video, what introduced them to the international scene. th-cam.com/video/WIKqgE4BwAY/w-d-xo.html
It is a studio recording with the original "band" in the bones costumes (they didn't really have a band yet).

As Moametal states, "Pa Pa Ya!!" has a fun performance, and is the first of their songs to feature a rap section.
    Composition:-
Similar to other Babymetal songs, "Pa Pa Ya!!" gathers influence from various genres while preserving the band's J-pop and electronic music. With its name referring to the papaya, "Pa Pa Ya!!" contains components of southern lands, Japanese festivals, and a chaotic tune, for a "hot upper tune" in the summer. The song is composed of an "infectuous synth line", "bouncy guitar riffs", and vocals repeatedly yelling "Pa pa ya", with the tune showcasing Su-metal and Moametal singing around each other in contrast to the chants and guitars. F.Hero raps a verse which provides elements of nu-metal, and applying "horror-esque synths" against the bubblegum chorus.

This video is the official video so it uses the studio audio. But the video is from a live performance and they do not use tracks for the majority of the music or the main vocals in live performances. There are plenty of live performance videos and plenty of fan cam videos. BABYMETAL fans get pissed if you imply that Su's lead vocals or that the primary musical performance is from track. The band is made up of some of the best musicians in Japan (and the world).

This song was a collaboration with Thai rapper F.Hero. They've done many collaborations which others will tell you about. BABYMETAL are the founders of kawaii metal, or "cute" metal, a fusion of J-pop aesthetics & metal. The band formed in 2010, when the girls were just 10 & 12 years old. Seriously. They are best viewed live as opposed to their official MV's with a couple of exceptions; "Karate" & "Megitsune". Their band is the KAMI BAND (KAMI means God, spirit, or divine being - as in gods of bass, drums, etc.). They are some of the best musicians in Japan, & for much of their career they often dressed in traditional Japanese burial robes & corpse or ghost makeup. And if you play bass you'll love BOH, master of the 6-string bass.
There is so much more to say about this group but its quite possible you're about to be inundated with comments containing further info.
My suggestion is "Headbanger" Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse:

    Nice reaction, thanks!
Well I'd say wrong place (kinda) wrong version (pretty sure). Because as you said, this is a music video and record labels tend to like to add the studio recording to them. The visuals are from the concert "BABUMETAL awakens. The Sun also rises" held in Yokohama in late June 2019 and it was the song's live premiere... well this footage is from the day 2 so it was just the second time :)
As it's already said, SU-METAL always sings live despite all the dancing... believe or not. They often use harmonizing tracks but it's not the point now.
I'll try to leave a couple of links on a reply since TY doesn't like us to post links and delete the comments...

    F. Hero is not japanese he is thai, the girls are japanese but f. Hero is thai the song is part of babymetal's latest album metal galaxy an album that is pretty much multi cultural kind of album.
Papaya is actually a fruit hahah. Babymetal is pretty much the 3 girls (now 2) but the band is kind of part of babymetal but they are called the kami band. The song means nothing actually hahah its a summer party song kind of pretty much, its about a salad in thailand or something similar to that and yea papaya is a fruit which if you are from america or euro you'd probably not know this

Great first reaction to BABYMETAL! All their songs are different, blending multiple genres with metal. They have been going for over 11years now (they started when they were 11 and 12....!) Please react to "Ijime Dame Zettai" (No more Bullying) Live at Sonisphere Festival UK 2014: a landmark gig for them, their first major breakthrough outside of Japan!)

Baby Metal was my first intro into Japanese rock/metal, a real eye opener to the music culture that has developed over there. From Baby Metal to Maximum the Hormone to now where I am a die hard MAIDIAC. There is a lot to sample and decide what fits your tastes. Sure is fun though.

This track is one of their more recent songs from their third album "Metal Galaxy", and the performance was done by what I've come to call "Babymetal AY" ( after Yui). And, yeah, I would have been PO'ed if I paid top dollar for front row seats just to be looking up at the edge of the stage. Also, two of the three ladies are Babymetal - the backing band is known as "The Kami Band". The third lady is an "Avenger" - which one I'm not sure. Yeah, there's a history here! LOL!
Where to start? How's about the beginning? If you want something mind-blowing, I suggest you go back ten years (!) and react to their first music video "Doki Doki Morning" ( th-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/w-d-xo.html ) and move forward from there; travel the path that they and many of their fans took to get to where we are today. You'll find good songs and ones that aren't so good, you'll find triumph (Sonisphere 2014) and tragedy (the departure of Yuimetal in 2018 and the unfortunate death of Mikio Fujioka, guitarist of the Babymetal backing "Kami Band"), you'll find Black Babymetal, and you'll find that although Babymetal started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal"), they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box. They have only a bit over fifty songs and you're sure to find them all most entertaining. Their TH-cam channel - th-cam.com/users/BABYMETAL
I would also suggest that you take in their music videos first, then explore their live performances - I'll be the first to say that Babymetal is best served live, but their many of their MV's are real works of art and there aren't that many (18)( th-cam.com/play/PLBjHl6w8pExmpUGRN7zsZyqZszJtsejKp.html ). And when you take in any live performances, I strongly suggest that you steer clear of compilation videos. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Watching a Babymetal compilation video is like eating prime rib after somebody else chewed it.
Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)

Papaya is not my first choice (It was a music video with a studio track) but kudos for jumping into the foxhole.
Most people start with 'Gimme Chocolate Official MV" for the shock value. th-cam.com/video/WIKqgE4BwAY/w-d-xo.html
I like to start with 'Megitsune Official MV'. Fierce song with excellent breakdown. th-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/w-d-xo.html
I then suggest 'Karate official MV' th-cam.com/video/GvD3CHA48pA/w-d-xo.html a work of art with guitars that rip your face off.
Then go to 'Road of Resistance Live in Japan' for an epic live performance. th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html 16 year old girl commanding a crowd of 20,000 metal heads.
Then jump into 'Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Gods Intro Live at Budokan' th-cam.com/video/tmMocP99QkQA/w-d-xo.html killer live performance that highlights the Kami band. This is the musicians choice most of the time.
Need to see 'Headbanger Live at Legend 1997'. Live band, crowd participation and fire extinguishers. What's not to love here? th-cam.com/video/YjjWZpf_jSs/w-d-xo.html
'BxMxC Official MV' This track sometimes leaves people speechless. th-cam.com/video/ng8mh6JUIqY/w-d-xo.html

Kawaii metal (Cute metal) not j- whatever. You made assumptions about BabyMetal which first timers usually do. But the more you watch them the more you see that they are for real, the musicians are real. The singing, the choreography, the audience interaction. Everything is real. In 2020 BabyMetal was voted the 10th greatest METAL band of all-time.

    Nice first reaction.
Babymetal started with a mix of pop and metal but expanded to mix more genres together so with about 50 songs in their catalog each one is unique and different.
You wanted to know where to start how about the beginning with their first song and video Doki Doki Morning when the girls were only 13,12 and 12
    th-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/w-d-xo.html
Or since you're a bassist I'd recommend their song Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of Gods intro this is a SU the lead singer solo
