Bridge Cables that span over the lanes will drop large amounts of ice and snow on the vehicles. This has happened in BC with the new Port Mann bridge. Their high tech solution is to drop rusted loops of chain down the cables to clear the ice and snow. This also involves constantly closing one lane in both directions for worker to deploy and reinstall the chains.. lets see what happens with this bridge during winter
Maybe true, but the trade between the US and Canada is far more important proportionally for the Canadian economy than the US, they took on the responsibility for funding the project so they could control it, because they didn't know if any subsequent administrations or legislatures in either the state of Michigan or the US federal government would bow to lobbying (by Manny Maroun or others) and withhold funds. Besides, it's basically a loan, they're going to earn the cost back on tolls which will be paid by whoever crosses regardless of what country they're from.
It was a smart negotiation on the Canadian part. Windsor suffers more from the truck traffic. Canada benefits more proportionately than the US from the bridge. But all that is besides the point. Michigan's budget was not doing well at the time. And while people wanted the new bridge, Maroun could have basically said it would cost too much and that Michigan didn't have the money to do this right now. Canada took that issue off the table. And if Maroun fighting so much concerning the bridge didn't let you know, the bridge will make plenty of money. Canada essentially loaned the bridge money, and will get it's money back.
@@jakeryan4545 Interesting perspective. Canadian feds stuck their nose in, where are US Feds? The disadvantage is that Canada ends up carrying the loan.

Uh, it's a bond financing endeavor.
We finance the frozen waste land enough.
@@DanielSlaughter-vi5hy this "frozen waste land" provides like 80% of your lumber. Would be harder to get shit done if most of your lumber imports just stops. Not to mention our other exports to the U.S

This video misses the key part of the story: the Ambassador Bridge is a privately owned business and its owners held up the contruction of public bridges for decades through politicking, politicking and, uh, politicking.
Heaven forfend anyone should consider the possibility of massive corruption.
LETS GOO
Bridge Cables that span over the lanes will drop large amounts of ice and snow on the vehicles. This has happened in BC with the new Port Mann bridge. Their high tech solution is to drop rusted loops of chain down the cables to clear the ice and snow. This also involves constantly closing one lane in both directions for worker to deploy and reinstall the chains.. lets see what happens with this bridge during winter
It barely snows at all in Windsor
Windsor gets 1” of snow each month. Maybe less. Not sure if your assessment is correct.
@@keithlabonte2547 Each month? Even in the summer?
@@kyle381000smart arse lol 😆
Winter with lots of snow in Windsor/Detroit!?? Not too likely!😂😂😂
That's not the 401 haha. Good video tho!

I'm Canadian and enough billionaires control us already. Take a hike.
Think you meant connecting the US to new India, dunno about this Canada place your referring to

Had to make sure no polar bears or beavers would be affected by this bridge, lol

The bridge is more like operation save Detroit.
Finaly we get rid of the competition who is a thief and takes advanatges of his monopoly.
is it done yet....
Buffalo could've had this but just couldn't get it done.
At some point in history, maybe, but right now the Canadian side of that crossing is an absolute mess, traffic-wise.
coulda shoulda
The RW Wingnuts tried to stop the bridge construction.
6.4 b money well spent
Correction/Fact Check. It's not the Canadian Government paying for the bridge. It's the Canadian taxpayers paying.
Also wrong. The bond issuance funded the bridge. Tolls will pay it off.
The mouron properties should have been taken under EMINATE DOMAIN.
Toll on both sides or on the american side because we already paid for 3/4 of it
6.4billion usd, gosh, if you call Chinese team to make it, their budget only need 1/10 of this price and they still can earn a lot.
Why is Canada stuck with the bigger part of the costs? Lousy negotiation!
Odd that the US side is north of the Canadian side.
Canada keeps the American share of revenue from the bridge until the bridge is paid off.
