Thank you Sharon. Yes, this Adele Sterling is beautiful and it is one of the few of my finds I can wear! Most beach goers clean up their area before they leave but many leave it behind. I always carry a plastic bag and pick up trash I see as well as for trash I dig out.

Great little hunt you had there! I too, live down the street from the beach, here in Florida... You never know what your going to find! This past weekend, I dug the same type of lid off a Pringles can of potato chips... Caused my detector to go crazy... When I scooped it up, I was like... what?!?!?!? LoL Enjoy the hobby, I sure am! Like you I love metal detecting but it sucks that I have to wait till spring to get out there because it's cold with snow on the ground. +KP2010 I started with the metal detector, mine is Teknetics G2. I got a deal on it as it was used for couple months. No problem for me, it still had the original battery in it. The weight of the detector is very important as it gets pretty heavy as you keep swinging it. Do some online research on different detectors, some do better in dirt or sand or in water. All depends where you will detect. Mine does well in sand & dirt. It is not waterproof so that's something else to consider. You will need a shovel (for dirt) and a scoop for sand. Dig all signals you find, you will learn what trash sounds like! Also, watch metal detecting videos, I learned a lot from watching others. Good Luck!
+Basia Today right now, the east coast aka The Treasure Coast. (I was told treasure hunter Mel Fisher has rights to finds on the beaches of from Jacksonville to Jupiter Inlet!!) But, I have a small place on the west coast in Nokomls! So, I'm going to be bi-coastal!! The best of both worlds! I have yet to see anyone detecting on the west coast beaches I go to.

i'm going to put something fairly precious into a small plastic bottle on our beach, porthccawl (30 miles away), with a laminated note from me inside. i will throw it into the water off the pier (new years day) as the tide is going out and the currents will take it into the irish sea. if it should miss the irish coast, it will be taken out to the atlantic. and who knows where it would end up. i'll include my email. let's see how far it goes.

Basia Today yes i will do a video of this. pembrey or bury port beach looks like a better bet. i've decided it's going to be two bottles. i'll go to a jewellers and get a heart necklace, where the heart breaks into two. put each of the halves into the bottles, with the same message. when/ if found, they can contact me. wouldn't it be mad, that the people who found it contacted themselves and struck up a relationship. now that's destiny.

Like you I love metal detecting but it sucks that I have to wait till spring to get out there because it's cold with snow on the ground. Congrats on that Kingsolver ring and I can't believe that someone would leave such a long kitchen knife out in the beach where a person can cut themselves really bad. You have saved sooooo many feet! I'd love to do detecting, but where do I start??
+KP2010 I started with the metal detector, mine is Teknetics G2. I got a deal on it as it was used for couple months. No problem for me, it still had the original battery in it. The weight of the detector is very important as it gets pretty heavy as you keep swinging it. Do some online research on different detectors, some do better in dirt or sand or in water. All depends where you will detect. Mine does well in sand & dirt. It is not waterproof so that's something else to consider. You will need a shovel (for dirt) and a scoop for sand. Dig all signals you find, you will learn what trash sounds like! Also, watch metal detecting videos, I learned a lot from watching others. Good Luck!

+Basia Today right now, the east coast aka The Treasure Coast. (I was told treasure hunter Mel Fisher has rights to finds on the beaches of from Jacksonville to Jupiter Inlet!!)
But, I have a small place on the west coast in Nokomls!
So, I'm going to be bi-coastal!! The best of both worlds! I have yet to see anyone detecting on the west coast beaches I go to.

Is the Tek G2 your go too machine. And is it solid in the sand? Looks like it is by your videos.
+rob lipiec Yes, nice and solid! I ground balance on wet sand, then run it on all metal! On sand it will pick up deep (14" or so).

i'm going to put something fairly precious into a small plastic bottle on our beach, porthccawl (30 miles away), with a laminated note from me inside. i will throw it into the water off the pier (new years day) as the tide is going out and the currents will take it into the irish sea. if it should miss the irish coast, it will be taken out to the atlantic. and who knows where it would end up. i'll include my email. let's see how far it goes.

yes i will do a video of this. pembrey or bury port beach looks like a better bet. i've decided it's going to be two bottles. i'll go to a jewellers and get a heart necklace, where the heart breaks into two. put each of the halves into the bottles, with the same message. when/ if found, they can contact me. wouldn't it be mad, that the people who found it contacted themselves and struck up a relationship. now that's destiny.
