I think my biggest issue with some of the asian stereotypes is how some will strip your credit. Like I'll hear a lot when I'm effective or good at something, they'll just throw out "yeah but its because you're asian". Which to me just feels like they disregard all the hard work I put into anything, and to me thats probably the most annoying one. Well tbh there aren't that many that actually annoys me but that one, because that one happens so frequently for no reason. Mind you I live in sweden.
+CardSearcher911 It takes about a day to render her water bottle into these videos. That's why we sometimes have to release the episodes a little later :/
I think driving intelligence and road knowledge comes after driving skill. Let's say we have two drivers, one very skilled, and an average commuter. We put them in a city they've never been to, and have them drive from one location to the next, with someone giving them directions on the fly. Obviously, the skilled driver will do it better. Now, we put them in their hometown, and have them do the same thing. Makes sense that, with good driving skill, and knowledge of the roads, the skilled driver would still be better. The only situation I see that an average commuter would be slightly better is if they have hometown road knowledge, while the skilled driver is being given directions, and even then, you could argue the skilled driver would still do a better job from getting from point A to point B. Just my two cents, haha
+Rashaun Reyes I was sooooo gonna talk about him!! He's the first one that popped up in my mind when they talked about asian men being emasculated! Thank you for thinking the same!
Love the Lunch break series!! It's always so much fun to see you guys interacting with one another. Another Asian stereotype you could have talked about: all Asians can play the violin/piano.
What I hate about the whole "You're Asian so you're good at academics/math." stereotype is that it takes away my hard work and places the credit solely on my ethnicity. It's so incredibly frustrating when people talk to me about my grades as if I don't work for it at all.
I agree that the word asian is also so limiting. As a Filipino, we sometimes get overlooked as just plain asian or pacific islander but we're not even an island. We're an archipelago. What about people in malaysia, India, thailand, Vietnam? Does asia only have fair to medium skin tone and small eyes? Or is asia only china, Japan and Korea? Our concept of Asia is too limited. Or maybe... Threes no need for boundaries anymore.
Chinese/Japanese-American: I'm only a freshman in college so, high school stereotypes. I failed trigonometry, and passed geometry with a 65. Algebra was a 98 though. Failed physics twice in a row and somehow graduated, passed chemistry and biology with sub-80 grades. Everything before high school was 90+. I'm a black belt in Okinawa Shotokan karate, took it for 12 years. People say I'm one of the most romantic people they know (when I'm with someone I want to be in love with). I live in a city with way too much public transport for me to consider driving at this point in life.
Taylor is hilarious. Aside from being in the videos, what is his role on the wongfu team? I feel like your website should have a "meet the team" page, which includes interns and such
I believe Christine IS the better driver...sorry Phil. P.S. I went to the screening at Ward Theatre. I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!! I really hope you guys...and gals enjoy it in O'ahu, Hawai'i and don't be afraid to come back again!
Because it is a stereotype but it is mostly true because I'm from the Philippines and I've never lived there but I know that rice is a cheap grain and that is mostly what people in Asia eats
+sedona cabrera Haha yeah that's true, I guess they were mainly trying to debunk some stereotypes and they couldn't debunk that one. xD I just found it sort of funny that they were talking about "the most popular Asian stereotypes" and that one never came up. :P
I am on the way to school now and I thought my day is gonna suck but when I look up at TH-cam, I saw an update from Wongfu and it's one of my favorite - Lunch Break 😍 Always looking forward to this ❤️ #LovingChristineBlondeHair
I'm the same with Wes in math. I started algebra1 in 7th grade, which at that grade was like pre-algebra 1. most my friends were in pre-alg2. but alg1 was for 8th grders, generally, and I was in there. but I was so bad I had to retake alg1 twice so I ended up being on par with my friends again, but regardless we were all still pretty ahead since we went into geometry as a 9th grader, and the lowest math class offered was alg 1 (which means technically that's where you're supposed to be entering in). But yeah I started deteriorating in math since then, despite being "ahead".
yes Phil, being a good driver means being aware of surroundings, other drivers, judging the speed of other cars, judging distance of cars around you etc. that means getting into accidents and getting pulled over for tickets means you're a bad driver. if you're aware of surroundings you can see where the cops are hiding and not break traffic laws. most accidents are from not looking around carefully at where the other cars are and how fast they're going in relation to yourself.
I'm not good in math, I'm a decent-ish driver (no tickets, two minor accidents, no sense of direction...), never took karate/martial arts, didn't play the piano, did play the violin but stopped after 2 years, aaaand that's all that I can think of at this point in time :)
They say Asians are only STEM focused the only extracurriculars they do are martial arts and orchestra. And since most of the orchestra is Asian, it's kinda true. But I'm one of 2 Asians in my drama program so I like to think i'm breaking a stereotype and helping Asians become more prominent in media.
9:39 i just had to say that 1/3 of america at least i think watches Kdramas and if you watch Kdramas you know to asain men are HELLA romantic (from my perspective) let me know if you agree
+Taylor Babino lmao it is def NOWHERE CLOSE to 1/3. And Kdramas are so incredibly fake. Asian guys in Asia are not any more or less romantic than guys in America, and Asian society is still rather sexist and misogynistic so noooope. Where the hell are you getting 1/3 hahahahaha that's ridiculous
I love that Christine and Wes went to battle over the whole driving thing while Taylor is instigating and Wes is just scoopin his avocado peacefully.. hahaha! P.S. I am always looking for people in movies/t.v that don't fit the stereotype society has given them ie. peaceful Muslims, educated black people, etc. and asian leading men are definitely on that list
Driving a manual does make you a better driver! As we call it here, reason number one if you have license for an automatic car here you cant drive a manual one, but if you have a license for a manual car here you can drive pretty much any vehicle (here is the UK), but the guy who stated what he thought about what driving is, has a point and i think he is right.
It's true what Wes said, when he focus on creative works his math ability gone. Happened to me, I lost my writing ability when I concentrate on doing finance works this four years.
Still good at math but I hate it, 2 accidents( 1 Santa's fault, the other was a pillar) and 3 warnings(rolling stop, dim turn signal, and bad turn at a unlit corner), I took Taekwondo for 2 yrs (Green Belt). I'm pretty on point with everything except im a decent driver.
Both my parents are bad at Math and so am I. I remember getting bad grades in Math even in just elementary school where it was basic time tables, addition, and subtraction. In high school I had to take Math 11 twice... And then that was the last of the math classes for me. Couldn't dream of taking Calc or Psych or Chemistry or Stats - that'd be way too hard. My strong suit has always been English and Socials. Also, no one in my family or extended family has ever taken martial arts. It has never been part of my family's tradition. Maybe because it was a more rural background for my folks. ---but the driving one is true for me, I'm not great at driving :/
I definitely hit two of the stereotypes squarely on the head.... I'm an Engineer (Math/Science), and I'm a black belt in Shotokan Karate (Martial Arts).... As for driving and feeling emasculated, not so much. Anyway, love your videos. Keep up the good work, been a big fan since my college days about 8-9 years ago when I first saw the "Yellow Fever" video.
I find it really intresting to observe Wes in Lunchbreak\First\WFW... cause it seems like it is the major thing he himself is doing during these videos. "i am here, but i prefer to see and listen". unless there are asian snacks and Phil around XD
My husband is half asian & very romantic :) also I do a lot of "basic white girl" things but I hate that term & I feel that all stereotypes do strip us of our individuality as Christine said so don't judge anyone by what they appear to be, we all deserve to be given a chance to show who we really are!
Driving kind of just jumped up on me. Two seconds ago we were all 10 year olds that had to beg our parents to go anywhere and now everywhere I look there are people in my grade popping up w their drivers licenses, taking their tests, or only have a few hours left. There are some others that aren't quite old enough like me but I haven't even signed up for drivers ed yet (also the cost and waiting list at some of these places is ridiculous) but I probably won't take it for like 2 years because I'll be an exchange student next year and I can't drive there so here's no point in spending the money or time right now if I'm only going to be licensed for a few months (and probably too scared to drive myself most of the time w my Asian woman-ness har har and the general unsafe feeling of driving in the hilly turny backwoods of New England anyway) I'll just bum rides off of my parents a LITTLLLEEE while longer
I'm 13 and I did 9 years of karate and I quit because you had to be fifteen to have the first black belt and I had the brown belt and I didn't want to wait 2 years of no learning new skill just the same stuff if it was 1 year of waiting I would have done it but i will go back on karate when I'm 15
Not going to lie, I'm half Asian & when my mom moved us to Monterey Park to live with sister, her insurance sky rocketed so much, and also her other sister lives in Alhambra and her insurance is also super high once she entered "high risk" zones. But I don't think it's all Asians, I just think it's people who just came to the US, and also those two cities have a high number.
this might be far fetched but are you guys cool doing a lunch break episode in Singapore, together with NOC, when you come visit SG soon? would love to see that happen! p.s. i subscribe to both your channels and I LOVE THEM!
I'm a mix of Wes and Phil, I got ahead in math from after 6th grade and I was doing okay, but my Pre-Cal teacher caused my fOr at grade lower than an A in Math
I took karate for...half a year?? Well, when I was 4 and then in 6th or 7th grade. Just because a couple of my friends were black belts haha ...And then I remembered something. I suck at sports. Every time I see some motivational tv show or superhero movie I get all hyped to be the best I can be or be some young athletic or prodigious awesome student but then I join, start and I freak out and think WHHYY DID I DECIDE TO DO THIIIIISSS!!!???
I think we all know that TED is the best driver, right Phil??!! LOL.. By the way, please do a PART 2 of this lunch break it was really funny and tooooooo short... your lunch breaks are always interesting.. thanks guys!
Team Christine for your argument about Manual drivers. Totally agree, so in my eyes you are automatically the better driver. My stereotype I get is, all Indian/Sri Lankan and etc smell. Most do, but i don't lol -_-
I have to disagree. It's not the type of car, it's how you drive it. Driving manual does not mean you're automatically a better driver. There are so many other things to factor.
i gave up on math freshmen year when i had to take geometry, it wasn't hard but it was just plain annoying. I decided to take Algebra 2/Trig Honors sophomore year and almost failed...literally, i got my grade from a F to a B though so i saved myself (should not have taken honors, quote my sisters that took regular "take honors the class is so easy")...I didn't want to take a risk anymore so i dropped honors junior year and took regular precalc...unlike phil, that class was so easy for me, not showing off but i was considered the smart on in my class but algebra2/trig i was the stupid one lol. Taking AP Calc AB this year #senior...easy so far but probably will get harder later. lots of ppl dropped the AP and went to College Calc...there is also AP calc BC...nvr in my life will i take that class i still need to take my road test, but my dad when he drives my sister to college upstate, he has gotten i think like 3 or so speeding tickets....my brother is a black belt in taekwondo...my mom said for him to quit in high school i think or when he gets a certain dan
I was homeschooled, so I can't say about advanced placement and all that. I didn't get up to higher calculus, but I'm better than my coworkers at calculating stuff in my head. I'm a terrible driver. Chinese people from China HAVE to drive incredibly aggressively to keep the flow of traffic. Japanese people rarely drive because the mass transit systems are so good, so when they come here and rent cars, they don't know what they're doing. I took a bunch of martial arts, but never got good at anything, but I feel like that's normal for middle class American boys in general, regardless of race.
Mind you I live in sweden.
that's a good one, and very true
+Dingleberry Sauce The people that believe and seriously use that reasoning, generally aren't the brightest individuals lmao..
+MF Doom I meant its very true that Asians are stripped of their credit (just in case of misunderstanding)
+Dingleberry Sauce Even colleges do it.
that's true
Wes is special. He gets a real bowl the rest get plastic containers
dave!
+DavidParody I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE. *on youtube*
DavidParody suh dude!
Wes always mixes his salad in that bowl😂
DavidParody i
The person who edits the lunch break videos deserves more credit! The edits are hilarious!
I love how Christine always puts Phil in his place 😂
Sometimes I eat with you guys to feel included
Yaaas!! What did you eat?
Haha yes me too!
+Uba Jam Me too! it feels nice :)
peachiechristine I actually had mac and cheese
+Uba Jam You should try it with First! It's a lot more competitive xD
I still have issues processing the reality of Christine's water bottle.
+CardSearcher911 It takes about a day to render her water bottle into these videos. That's why we sometimes have to release the episodes a little later :/
+bensonq that's unacceptable. Her fabulousness needs a whole month to render and perfect
+bensonq that's unacceptable. Her fabulousness needs a whole month to render and perfect
+peachiechristine Preach XD
That's a nice blue bowl you have there Wes
I was halfway through the video when I read your comment, and hadn't noticed, and then I had to go back to see when the bowl appeared hahaha
+Luciana Tiemi i did the same
+Christine😄😄 I thought so too! haha
I just realized it was on his lap the whole time. Lol
+Christine😄😄 I was confused towards the end because Wes finished eating, but then he was eating from his lap....
wes is just like, "can't we eat salad in peace. i brought a bowl and everything. :c"
I agree with Phil that all the knowledge about roads and your intelligence of driving is the most important factor!
Just my two cents, haha
When Christine said she found all Asian men sexy, all the Asian guys just went, "so you're saying I have a chance"? lol
am i the only one who says lunch break along with them? haha xD
+Angela Wang HAHA looooser..
jk :p
jajajaja
+Angela Wang I don't say the lunch break but i say the MORE at the start in Ted's voice.
+Angela Wang even i do say Lunchhhhh breakkkk along with them. :)
I tried to make it a thing at work. Blank stares all round!
Wes is so wise. I would love to have a conversation with him
2 years ahead in math.
2 accidental bumper love taps, 0 tickets.
5 years of karate, black belt with 2 chevrons.
My middle name is frugal.
anyone else agree that this is the best thing ever? I love Lunch Break!
Judging from the previous driving videos. I think Ted Wins the argument on driving
Totally with C & W on adding the avocados. Hilarious that Wes methodically preps his salad for the first 2min ROTFL!! Diggin the bowl and salad prep
Shoutout to Steven Yeun aka Glenn, being a straight up bad ass who's in a relationship with a white woman on the walking dead.
+Rashaun Reyes I was sooooo gonna talk about him!! He's the first one that popped up in my mind when they talked about asian men being emasculated! Thank you for thinking the same!
+Rashaun Reyes as much as i like glenn for being the boss ninja that knows every shortcut in Atlanta, we all know he's gonna die soon by Negan... :/
+vGambino I didn't know that.... fantastic.......
+vGambino why would you give a spoiler like that? Not everyone knew that, i didnt and thats not cool at all.
Rashaun Reyes heck Justin Chon's wife is a Russian model!
I think that Ted, Phil, Wes and Taylor are sexy in their own way because they all have different personalities.
lol poor Wes stuck in the middle while Christine and Phil argue about who's the best driver
I like how Wes was just sitting there, eating some salad and then takes it away like the fighting was messing with the food XD
Everything before high school was 90+. that moment when lunch break is uploaded when you're about to make dinner #EastCoastProblems
i watch lunchbreak before going to bed XD
that head animation creeping up at like 2:30 scared the life outta me!
I seriously wish these were longer than 10 minutes. I'd binge for hours
Lol I suck at math, I'm in the regular classes at school but I don't get whats going on.
Yaaaas girl yaaaass #hugggs
i think we should watch them drive before pre judging
the editing is always on point 😂
How did the rice stereotype not come up at all?
Because it is a stereotype but it is mostly true because I'm from the Philippines and I've never lived there but I know that rice is a cheap grain and that is mostly what people in Asia eats
+sedona cabrera Haha yeah that's true, I guess they were mainly trying to debunk some stereotypes and they couldn't debunk that one. xD
I just found it sort of funny that they were talking about "the most popular Asian stereotypes" and that one never came up. :P
Well its true. My parents give me rice with almost everything. Eggs? Have some rice. Soup? Add rice. Hotdogs? Chop it up and eat it with rice.
+Hasan Siddiqui haha true. and they also missed that asians "cant see" and always get all As
+Hasan Siddiqui Because everyone likes rice, it'd be a stereotype about everyone in the world. What's not to like about rice? :)
I love the editing on lunch break series hahaha
just purchased an awkward giraffe and a shirt from y'all :3 yay. have always wanted one of your merch and now i can!
i love the lunch break videos!
I am on the way to school now and I thought my day is gonna suck but when I look up at TH-cam, I saw an update from Wongfu and it's one of my favorite - Lunch Break 😍 Always looking forward to this ❤️ #LovingChristineBlondeHair
The effects in this video are so great.
More Christine Rants! Editin on point :p
Yay waited long time for another video!!

I like how Phil, Christine and Taylor are going full out about whose the best driver and Wes is just chilling and enjoying his salad xD
i was wondering when u guys will upload lunch break videos i was waiting for it thanks wong fu productions
+Nisha sharmin I made this for you
+bensonq bensonnnnnnnnnnn from wong fu productions wow this is awesome
yes Phil, being a good driver means being aware of surroundings, other drivers, judging the speed of other cars, judging distance of cars around you etc.
that means getting into accidents and getting pulled over for tickets means you're a bad driver. if you're aware of surroundings you can see where the cops are hiding and not break traffic laws.

My dad is asian and has never had a speeding ticket
Same here dude! My father has never gotten a ticket or have been in an accident. My mother on the other hand... Completely different story haha.
+samu suhendi cool bro, does he have a car and drive though?
+samu suhendi Nobody said they drive too fast.
+samu suhendi In my opinion, Asians are either really good at driving or really bad.
Christine can drive manual??? DAAAANNGGG GURRLLLL XD
Another sterotype "All asians play piano"
+jessicamai47 My brother played piano and I played violin...perpetuating ALL the stereotypes
+no14sure And then there's me, I play the piano AND violin..
Love how Wes totally ceased to exist the moment a debate happened.
9:39 i just had to say that 1/3 of america at least i think watches Kdramas and if you watch Kdramas you know to asain men are HELLA romantic (from my perspective) let me know if you agree
Not American but I agree!!
+Taylor Babino 1/3 is a very generous number.
Rissa i really don't know where i got that after i posted that i regretted it
i was honestly in a rush when i typed this so i did not know what the hell i was typing
I'm literally eating lunch while watching lunch break haha! btw, Asian girls are not bad drivers, cmon. I'm with you Christine! xx
Freakin' Wes ! I never noticed his bowl when they first released the vid ! LOL
It's funny how when they argue and keep talking, Wes is just there silently judging them :))
LOL. phil said hes the best driver but got into 3 'minor' accidents
The first time EVER in recorded Wong Fu history that Phil is the level-headed one in an argument XD
I'm like Wes, but instead in 6th grade I took 7 and 8th grade and when I actually got to 7th grade I was in algebra 1
It's true what Wes said, when he focus on creative works his math ability gone.
Happened to me, I lost my writing ability when I concentrate on doing finance works this four years.
love you guyssss wong fu forevs
Haaa!!!! Christine was reminding everyone she was a better driver at the very end😂
The fact that christine knows how to drive manual makes me love her even more.
Both my parents are bad at Math and so am I. I remember getting bad grades in Math even in just elementary school where it was basic time tables, addition, and subtraction. Each martial arts school i go to i always stop after second yellow stripe because then you have to pay a lot the more belts you get.
best driver competition...Wes sit between Phil and Christine was like, why is that important?
I definitely hit two of the stereotypes squarely on the head.... I'm an Engineer (Math/Science), and I'm a black belt in Shotokan Karate (Martial Arts).... As for driving and feeling emasculated, not so much. Anyway, love your videos. ANOTHER VIDEO WITH PHIL DRIVING MANUAL!!! ALWAYS SOOO FUNNYYY!! xD No offense to Phil. xD
when you guys were talking about driving.. i remembered you guys did an episode on Phil learning to..
I loved how Wes was just sitting there eating quiety
YOU GUYS ARE GREAT TOGETHER!

Christine VS Phil. Who's the better driver? I would pay to see that contest! Double for me to be inside one of those cars!
Christine's hair is so pretty!
that black on black tee is bombbb!
this might be far fetched but are you guys cool doing a lunch break episode in Singapore, together with NOC, when you come visit SG soon? would love to see that happen! p.s. i subscribe to both your channels and I LOVE THEM!
Wes' salad is my fave from TJ's!
You guys should go go carting together! Or some sort of driving game :)
did anyone else notice wes pick up his bowl and just kind of back away from the table once things started getting heated with the driving topic?
How do you just regularly do your hair like that Christine!? Please do a tutorial x
Can you do a video with the puppets from Wong Fu Weekends #53?
Can wong Fu have a whole team lunch break??? that would be awesome!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃
lol christine's face in the thumbnail tho xD
I think we all know that TED is the best driver, right Phil??!! LOL.. By the way, please do a PART 2 of this lunch break it was really funny and tooooooo short... your lunch breaks are always interesting.. thanks guys!
Can someone tell me what type or brand is Christine's water bottle? Thanks!
when Phil said Taylors Chinese salad was the worst one, I thought he was going to say that it was because it was Chinese LOL. And he's Chinese... 😂😂
There are so many other things to factor.
loved this video!!!
That edit of when Christine thought not all Asian men are sexy, that just killed me xD
PHIL SAME. I'm in precal right now. And let me tell you. It's about to be my first C ever
Dang, Phil is so assertive
i gave up on math freshmen year when i had to take geometry, it wasn't hard but it was just plain annoying. Taking AP Calc AB this year #senior...easy so far but probably will get harder later. lots of ppl dropped the AP and went to College Calc...there is also AP calc BC...nvr in my life will i take that class
i still need to take my road test, but my dad when he drives my sister to college upstate, he has gotten i think like 3 or so speeding tickets....my brother is a black belt in taekwondo...my mom said for him to quit in high school i think or when he gets a certain dan
Laughing so hard XD "Christine VS. Phil"
