This is always my favorite song for a Memorial Day service. It is also known as "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory".
Have a great Memorial Day, and thank you to all who serve or have served, and to those who paid the ultimate price.
When I hear this song, I see all the men and women who ever served not just the nation of the United States of America, but of others for the sake of preserving humanity to be its best against its worst. God bless you for this rendition of the song.
When I listen to this song, I think of what I feel like America was supposed to be. A beacon of light in the world, the shining city on a hill, a country founded on the principles of freedom and democracy.

I remember playing this on piano when I was a child, my father loved it an made me play it over and over, my father died when I was 14yrs old, this song always reminds me of my dad.

I really like how this is good simple arrangement. I mean sure I love the big complicated arrangements, but I love listening to the good simple arrangements a lot of the time. Nice job! So good to hear this song again! Used to hear it growing up in elementary school, where we would sing lots of patriotic songs and we'd also say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag every morning. We grew up loving our country and respecting the flag. We were proud of our country, and glad to be called Americans!

Very beautiful song, you play so gooood... i triied to learn piano and the most challenging part is learning to read the notes, it will be much easier if the notes have number on it, but i think we should not read numbers but the actual piano notes? Anyone has any tips on howe to read piano notes? I have tried again and again and still suck...
The best way to learn the notes on the piano is to learn your C major scale first. I strongly suggest that people who pick up the piano should learn to play their scales while singing the notes. I find that 90% of the time people grasp the scale quickly utilizing that method as well as the location of the notes on the piano. The next thing to learn is sharps and flats (the black keys) which can be done by remembering that flat= down and sharp = up. Flat soda makes me sad so it puts me in a down mood while stepping on a sharp needle will make me jump up . I hope this helps

The history behind this music is quite fascinating it has been copied and lyrics have been applied in various forms and guises. For religious, protest and military purposes. I believe the earliest known version was titled "John Browns Body" and then the tune was adopted as the 'Battle Hymn of the Republic', in the 1940's it was copied again for the lyrics 'Blood On the Risers'.

Weasel Words was originally battle hymn of the republic, as the republic was the union in the civil war, and this song was written and composed in 1861, and the civil war went from 1860-65
