Mudvayne's bass player was the best musician in all of nu metal. SOOOOO: I kinda called the two finalists, no argument with those. In fact, you and I align a lot on most of your comments. War of Art for me would be in the semi finals, that album is agonizingly overlooked. Choosing between Issues and LD50 is so hard... Korn overall are in my top 5 bands of all time, Mudvayne not so much... However LD50 is probably in my top 10 nu metal albums of all time. Slipknot, like you and many others, violently kicked open the door to my metal obsession when it came out, so I owe that album a lot, even though I don't listen to it all that much these days... Kinda inconsistent. I think for me, the semi finals would probably be Hybrid Theory, War Of Art, Toxicity and Issues/LD50 (You can't force me to choose). Great video. On Slipknot’s S/T I like 75% of material, while on White Pony and Hybrid Theory i like 90-100%, but i don’t really consider WP nu-metal, so many songs on this are more a Hum inspired shoegazy alt rock, even some trip hop vibes like on Rx Queen. While Hybrid Theory is straight up rap-metal/nu metal, so I guess LP is winner for me
The one I still listen to the most (whether you count it or not) is The War Of Art by American Head Charge. I still love that album so much. Edit - good

Chimaira's Pass Out of Existence is more nu metal than The Impossibility of Reason but both are pretty good I'd say Pass Out of Existence is the most underrated and overlooked nu metal album of all time
Personally i would say Korns issues or Slipknots self titled. Korns issues may not be as influencial as follow the leader but i think its there peak for a consistent brilliant album and packed with atmosphere and just back to back bangers. Slipknots self titled i would really consider there only full on nu metal album but still there best album front to back.
Also have to say im really surprised dopes album beat the height of callousness, where i am in The Uk spineshank had alot more exposure than Dope with songs like new diaease and synthetic, dope hardly ever got played here, big surprise one that one, actually feel spineshank are kinda underrated. Guess they got alot more exposure in the US than they did here.. wouldnt really put impossibility of reason as nu metal though, there first album 100% but for impossibility of reason they went out of there way to make sure it wasnt in a nu metal style, more heavy groove metal.. too many solos to many slayerish inspired riffs, if you would of put pass out of existence i would have understood that more
Korn's first album, Down with the Sicknesses Limp Bizkitz first few albums and Hed(PE)'s first few albums were amazing but to me the best Nu-metal album is Godsmack's Debut Album

They never were to me either. Like, I couldn't put on any of other albums in the video and then put on System and think "This sounds alike". SOAD were nu metal adjacent, but that's it.
Seems that they are retroactively no longer listed as Nu-Metal. Just happen to be metal band that formed and became popular during the Nu-Metal era, so always get categorized as one.
There are only two options Sevendust's first record and Static X's Wisconsin Death Trip. That should be the only two in the competition. It literally blows my mind that Korn has ever had a career or even really exists.
Most definitely haven't aged well but Incubus, PM5K and Static-X are still quite good. I'll also HM System of a Down's self titled even though not the album on here.
System of a Down was never nu metal at any point. I'll never understand why people give them that label beyond the fact that they came out around the same time. "But Serj does the whole talking fast thing. It's almost rapping." Maybe to some, but I never thought so. I can't listen to Korn, Limp Bizkit, 40 Below Summer, or any comparable band and then System and think "These things sound alike."
