Hehehe, that was actually half the reason I kept throwing in Space Marine jokes. I was hoping SOMEONE would catch it. ;) Yup, the Custodes are heavily based on the Swiss Guard.
Fun fact about small arms the definition of small arms is portable firearms including 50 caliber sniper rifles so the swiss guard could have had that training but that is highly unlikely
Modern swiss guard trains similar to other european elite police force/counter terrorism units. So its likely yeah they do train on that or atleast the hecate or psg
THEN THE 189 IN THE SERVICE OF HEAVEN THEY'RE PROTECTING THE HOLY LINE IT WAS 1527 GAVE THEIR LIVES ON THE STEPS TO HEAVEN THY WILL BE DONE Yes, The Last Stand by Sabaton is about the Swiss Guard, not the Crusades Really glad you brought that up in your video
I don't mind that people like to associate the song with the Crusades. It's one of the view songs out there that has a pious but military feel to it...about soldiers fighting for God. There aren't many songs like that out there, so for some people, it's as close as they can get. I don't know many songs about the Crusades out there. But yes, I do know it's not about the Crusades. It's about the Swiss last stand.
@@RavenKnightYT I don't really blame them either. I do agree about the whole righteous feel it gives off. Primo Victoria gives off a similar vibe imo. Glad you included Sabaton in this video though, I was so happy you did
As a Swiss, I see 0 connection betwen the Swiss guaed and the lawbringer. Historical inspiration seems closer to knights, especially Englush knighrs fighting on foot, war of the roses. Barron wars etc.
It would be cool in for honor of their was a more where you and your team has 42 lives and can only play as lawbringers, or holden cross, and fight a endless wave of wardens and peacekeepers for a amount of time while following the "pope". Like a April fools fight or something
Also it’s assumed that the Lawbringers’ special superior armor of which they keep their manufacturing methods secret are made of high(er) grade steel, meaning that they could be made much more durable, yet also requiring much more skilled craftsmanship and being much more expensive to produce.
So they should have more hyper armor but still get fatigued like they do. Also Poleaxes are supposed to use heavy armor for close heavy combat against other heavily armored enemies.
Well that might not be so far off apollyon herself is over 7 ft tall in actual Cannon and she took lawbringer armor and had it fit for her size which makes the lawbringer bigger than that and apollyon is to same height as every other Warden
I don't completely agree with them being mainly inspired by the Swiss but I can see the resemblence but the Poleax and Armor looks like he comes from the more Late Medieval Period as Poleaxes were commonly associated with Nobility while the Halberd is often more associated with the lower classes also Notebly absent are the firearms used by the Swiss Guard, the Swiss Guard though were very tough and adopted more modern techniques and were a strong, proffessional and iconic Mercenary force. (They even inspired the Holy Roman Empire to form their own Mercenary force called the Landskenects)
Ver Titus e seu iconico Thunderhammer foi satisfatório, geralmente jogo rpgs com armadura pesada e um poleaxe ou Alabarda e nomeio o persoagem de Titus.😅
I know I’m two years late but can anyone give me a source for his story off the Swiss guards taking up arms to defend against hitler and his panzers? I want to look more into but when I google it I can’t find anything…
Ahh the Last Stand is the song I play when my team goes into breaking and me and my friends hold one single point. DEUS VULT BROTHERS!!! FIGHT FOR HONOR! FOR GLORY! FOR THE KING! FOR THE ONE LORD THY GOD! GIVE NO MERCY! YOU WILL BE SHOWN NONE
You know I actually had a friend tell me lawbringers weapon is impractical and wouldnt work irl. Oh cant forget that it isnt a good one on one weapon sure there is better it still can work.
I honestly think that the choice of the poleaxe instead of a straight halberd was at least in part to put the focus on the actual axe, drawing inspiration from both places, at least imagery wise. Plus we do know that they acted as executioners in the lore too.
*THEY'RE THE 189, IN THE SERVICE OF HEAVEN. THEY'RE PROTECTING THE HOLY LINE. IT WAS 1527, GAVE THEIR LIVES ON THE STEPS OF HEAVEN, THY WILL BE DONE!!!*
I wasn't expecting a whole sabaton song xD
i wasnt expecting the execution right when the lyrics say in the name of god xD
So basically the Swiss guard during WW2 were the embodiment of the "Loads LMG with religious intent" meme.
Yes very much so
I just realized where the inspiration for the Custodes came from
Hehehe, that was actually half the reason I kept throwing in Space Marine jokes. I was hoping SOMEONE would catch it. ;) Yup, the Custodes are heavily based on the Swiss Guard.
THE CUSTODES ARE THE SWISS GUARD CONFIRMED
No the custodes are lawbringer.... Don't ask questions. Just accept.
The Golden legion.
The brotherhood of Demi-gods.
The Emperor First gen kin.
But to the galaxy they're the adeptus custodes.

Listening to Sabaton when playing as the knights is the best way to feel like a god
Goes for every faction
you are out here doing God's work brother, great video!
It is by God's grace and blessing that I am able to do what I do. Thank you.
Knowing the actual history behind the song made it infinitely better
A bunch of true fuking good references, and 1min30 of strait sabaton, you are a good guy, truly.
I think warden would be really interesting to hear about next
Also great video

Ah...well sorry to hear that. But I disagree. I do see connections and I laid them out.
I recently started watching these and this one is my favorite episode
Sitting here at work jusy finding your channel now im more motivated than ever 😂
6:10 The funny thing is that I met Sabaton and this song is because of a For Honor video with the song in the background
That song is what I imagine every lawbringer main listens to while pushing me off a cliff
The Swiss Guard are such a badass fighting force. If I was a European I’d join in a heartbeat.
Me to the only other lawbringer: Death to our enemies brother!
What a chad, playing practically all the song of sabaton, rather than putting just. Fragment
The shell of what was playing at 9:42 is interesting
new Lb theme song when i play. thanks. i love that song and that band but never knew the historical attachment.
Brb, making a space marine lawbringer loadout
......i think i just became a lawbringer main
Do you still play them? I loved playing him, I stopped playing him because I played warden more and Lawbringer was to hard imo
I wasn't expecting space marine jokes, but now I gotta figure out how to make a lawbringer look like an imperial fist or salamander
This is awesome
Just got the the ornament he has for my LB and now I look like a badass
Welp I have some new stuff to say when playing lawbringer besides just:
FOR THE EMPEROR!
These 40k memes are gold!
Dude, Space Marines don't exist... yet.
Feels bad that the sabaton song is used as a meme when it’s about the sacrifice of some absolute legends but hey memes
You were looking for an excuse to use that song weren’t you?
I listened to this song to bring my team to a comeback in dominon it’s was glorious with my
Warden
Raven Knight's favorite game series Warhammer confirmed

They must've been the most terrifying enemy to face during the dark ages or middle ages.

Wallet Warrior + For Honor + Lawbringer+ Golden Paint job + snazzy weapon = Custodes in Bretonnia! :D
Do the peacekeeper

Lawbringer reminds me alot of Chaos Warriors from Warhammer fantasy-age of sigmar,
If only he had two big horns as ornaments
Ver Titus e seu iconico Thunderhammer foi satisfatório, geralmente jogo rpgs com armadura pesada e um poleaxe ou Alabarda e nomeio o persoagem de Titus.😅
Do the raider next pls
Can you do a video on raider form for honor

so this was the first episode
No one expected the song lol.
love the sabaton
I love this series but something more important, how did you get your gui to show you on the orange team?
I made this back before they made that change.
That's rough, thx tho
Ant listen to sabaton without wanting to play Warden

I thought that lawbringer was just an executioner for the longest time I mean for me the signs were all there
Large axe? ✔
Tall and intimidating? ✔
Willing to remove a man's head from his neck? ✔
Wears a face covering? ✔
I understand the assumption
I honestly think that the choice of the poleaxe instead of a straight halberd was at least in part to put the focus on the actual axe, drawing inspiration from both places, at least imagery wise. Plus we do know that they acted as executioners in the lore too.
That enemy warmonger in your breach match was honestly kinda trash. It's embarrassing for a warmonger main like me to see that
I'm more impressed you got a pvp breach game
