Drummers have definitely adapted to BPM and rhythms of today's music. Compared to electronic music from the 70s (very fee drummers could do it, Harald Grosspkf could) and the 80s utilized drum machines. so you can tell that the times have changed.
+Lil Little do you have anything i could read about this evolution? it sounds interesting. especially cuz i really appreciate the electronic music that's come out as of late that uses live drums like shigeto or tycho. Any others you'd recommend actually? you familiar with Can by the way?
I'm sure a lot of people that watched/listened to the music video think its all done on a laptop. To play live and precise enough to sound like that is tops! I appreciate electronic music, especially when done with band and instruments.
ha. everything can be oversimplified to that. we all know it's not a masterpiece that shows the entirety of human development but it's an enjoyable piece that requires skill, practice and dedication to a significant degree.
i'm falling in love with Caribou...fast! can't believe i missed this album...and this performance blew me away...didn't think there was a real band behind the sound...the future of electronica...learning how to play it live!!
I agree with so many that the drummer is the focal point. I couldn't take my off him. I've also discovered that these guys are better live than on recordings. That accounts for something!
Alex James thanks, I had no idea there was a link to other tracks. I think there may have been another version that I’m thinking of (might not have been KCRW after all), but this is still great. Much appreciated👍
pretty good for a bunch of middle aged white guys.... actually it's amazing! I wish it was Brunswick, Victoria, Australia they are talking about! Go Canadia!
This song looks boring in perspective if played live in this set up. For me, it looks out of place. I think this performance would do better in a more party-kind of setting with all the lights and crowd.
Drummer is a well-oiled grooving robot.
Neil Kelly hahahaha he is indeed
+Neil Kelly hahahaha perfect description
I can't stop watching him, he's hypnotic - drummers are always the cool one tho!
Brad Weber aka Pick a Piper, that's his T Shirt that Dan is wearing.
always impressed with the drummers that play live for a lot of the electronic bands.

@@Zeokoz Check out The Presets. It's an Australian duo that always incorporates live drums with their music.
Check on friendly fires drummer, an absolute machine of nailing every beat on live performances
Same
The drummer is awesome. Great tune.
I was about to comment, I'm really glad many people are commenting about the drummer, fckin beautiful
The drummer is sick as fuck!
Incredible hi-hat--righteous sound...

+Hugh Clow An achievement equivalent to painting the lines on a paved road perfectly.

Drummer was on point
It really is a challenge to transform this kind of dance music format to live performance.
One of the finer things to come out of Canada: Caribou.
Dance music gains such a good quality when performed like this... more artists should do it hey :)
this is not "dance"
i mean, yea genres don't matter, but you cant say pop music on type o negative
Mihai Coltofean actually it is a form of dance music!
Lo-Room Records ok...my bad then
I love seeing dance or electronic music being played with instruments live
Ive really been struggling to learn the lyrics to this one
Our... and then something else. yeah, its tricky.
@@kurtdewitt460 I think it's "love". The second word, I mean. I could be wrong, though.
Great music, quality sandals.
Unbelievable. Music and album of the year.
Album of the year 2014!!
Drumming was so dope.

Stagecraft right there.
i'm falling in love with Caribou...fast! can't believe i missed this album...and this performance blew me away...didn't think there was a real band behind the sound...the future of electronica...learning how to play it live!!
Love this. transition into old school house and back etc. its a work of art. great drumming
CARIBOU...that sounds are My LOVE!!!
that, I think, is better than the album version.
Can't stop listening to this track. Brilliant

Anyone have a link for the version of “can’t do without you” for KCRW? Loved it and then it seemed to disappear 😔
The full session is available with that in. The link is in this video's description
Alex James thanks, I had no idea there was a link to other tracks. I think there may have been another version that I’m thinking of (might not have been KCRW after all), but this is still great. Much appreciated👍
HUGE!!!!
yep!
Genius
Is that Art Vandelay on the keys and vocals?
Other band members: 🧍🧍🧍 Drummer:💣🔥
Ultra cool..(Old skool House)
Mind: blown
This good.
and this guy has a PH D in mathematics from the Imperial College UK...
Most musicians are clever I find. James Holden prime example - professor in mathematics educated at Oxford University
great !!! :)
VERY cool :)
pretty good for a bunch of middle aged white guys.... actually it's amazing! I wish it was Brunswick, Victoria, Australia they are talking about! Go Canadia!
Anyone got the lyrics?
the drummer !!
prostě pecka...hmmmmm
4:51
MOAR GRAPEJUICE!
🧡
Good
I wonder what the inspiration was for these deep lyrics...
drummin is off the mo fukin hook!!!
Am I mistaken or are they using korg midi keyboards. Where is the laptop. Or did they rig it to they're samplers.
You can see the laptops at many points in the video, for example at 04:31
Do they have fun, or not?
Are the drums of the original sound recording or MIDI input?
Anyone know what this yellow box next to his midi keyboard is? Looks like he's controlling and manipulating the sound with it. How does it work?
+The Swirls SP-404
It's Roland SP-404, it's a sampling workstation with some build-in effects that he's using.
After 3:00. Maaaaaaaaan.
Does anyone know what keyboards/controllers they are using? I really like the keys/pads combo on them
+Mark Holloway Awesome, thanks!
Fantastic work. But the other members (besides the drummers) need to get more into it.
Who's olive? Haha
Is that Woody Harrelson on vocals?
What studio is that? It looks very familiar
sounds like a remix of inner city good life!
Disco beat fighting the sleep.......and losing.
What synth setup they’re use?
What kind of pad is the drummer using?
im freakin out... what software is the drummer?
drum bot 3000. its a newer model. very life like if you ask me. almost had me fooled for a second
What's the bass guitar?
What sytnhs are they using ?
It seems like they're not using any hardware synths. Only usb keyboards and sp404 samplers
Like controllers ?
is a korg Microkontrol.
Ulises Rodriguez they use 2 korg microkontrol(midi controllers) with ableton, and a roland sp 404 for fx
carlos garcia I HERD DAY USE 57 SYTHNS IN FL STUDIOZ AND IMPORT THEM TO VISUAL STUDIO 5 FOR DA MOST BEST SOUNDZ
Jajaj in the 5 minute sound's like the girl voice says "Dame Burrito" xD
What is the sample saying at 2.48?
Sounds like “Not Yet” when the beat stops.
this is new rave
ehhhhh is caribou's keyboard plugged?
he's playing the sub bass line...
caribou look similar to walter white O.o
nice shoes
We are not perfect.
This song looks boring in perspective if played live in this set up. For me, it looks out of place. I think this performance would do better in a more party-kind of setting with all the lights and crowd.
devo's nerdy nephews
Trance Bore,--- Warpaint is more to my liking.
