Mad respect for your work ethic. I’ve been in a similar situation (does eviction count?) and had to give up all my fish along with my massive plant collection. It suuuuuuucked! Slowly getting back on my feet (it’s been 2 years). QOTW: I bought a friend a fire extinguisher. He was de-lighted. I searched online for something to light a fire. It said, “No matches found.” On the inside of a fire hydrant, you’ll find H2O. What’s on the outside? K9P. A guy with flame tattoo sleeves walks into a building. Security stops him and says, “There are no firearms allowed in this building.” I watched a documentary about people walking on fiery hot coals. It was sole destroying. I’ll see myself out.

Well, I can tell you that I had a similar experience. I had a few tanks set up in my basement a few years ago. I didn't realize how old my power strip was getting. One night the fire alarm went off and smoke started coming out of the basement. My dad ran down and sprayed the whole area around my tanks with the fire extinguisher. Then the firemen came and sprayed it again just to make sure. The area around the powerstrip looked a lot like your window - the fire had started to climb up the wall. The leveling mat under my tank burned and melted. the edges of the nearby tanks melted too. We were very lucky we were home when it happened. Surprisingly, all the tanks and fish survives the ordeal. I was kind of impressed that the petco fish tank still held water after one side literally melted and deformed. I use glass lids on my fishtanks so the fire extingusher spray didn't poison any innocent fish. They didn't even seem that traumatized. I learned two lessons: 1. Powerstrips have a lifespan and need to be replaced regularly - particularly when used heavily (like for multiple tank set ups). 2. You can actually literally set a fish tank on fire

To decrease cichlid aggression you need to be sure there are plenty of nooks and crannies for them hid in. They'll claim they're own little patch of real estate and that is a great way to keep them happy. On a side note, it's horrible that people still breed severely deformed creatures like the ranchu goldfish who can barely live in ideal set ups.
We got some *absolutely* beautiful tanks here, what a way to start the Monday! And I couldn't agree more with your comments about how there's nothing we can do about badly bred fish other than try to give them the best care we can and, for breeders, make sure they're as healthy as they can be "Buying kuhli loaches because they're cute. Realizing it's the last time you will ever see them again." And *that* is why I probably won't get a bristlenose pleco xD Having a pet you'll never get to see but still have to clean up their mess. Great advice tho! Hope things get better for you btw!
Very sorry to hear about your house and your fish. I hope you´ll be able to build everything back up soon! You´re always so very fired up reviewing fish tanks and dissing the awful ones, your house really didn´t need to follow that example!
Chirs 😂 I really love these videos, you’ve taught me so many things…..please never stop! Also I don’t know how you’d make a city sky-rise without it being artificial lol buildings are artificial to begin with 😅😅😅
I'm so sorry to hear you had a house fire, losing your fish is devastating!! I'm glad that you and your partner are safe and okay! You're an absolute legend for keeping your video schedule despite such a horrible thing happening. I've never bought merch before but I grabbed a hoodie, it's not much but I hope it can help in a small way, stay awesome!
My 12 year old son watches fish for thoght every morning😅 he loves fishes and he wants and aquarium with guppies in it, but he only wants natural decorations and real plants😊 he is your biggest fan and he loves your videos❤ he woud love to get a reaponse from you😊
Sorry to hear about the fire. I can relate to the dark humor. My house burned down, lost everything. Still had to grab the bag though so I went to work at the club as usual. I was a DJ and decided to play *Burning Down The House* by the Talking Heads, *Disco Inferno* by The Trampps, and any other song with the word Fire or Burning in it. FYI. Get ready to have PTSD whenever you smell something burning.
A truely lit episode. Pun aside, good luck with everything, I can't imagine the stress and struggles you're going through. Don't forget to keep your head up!
Glad you are alright, and sorry to read about the loss of your fish along with the rest. My little brother and I started a housefire when we were very small (I was 6 or 7 he was 4 or 5) trying to scare the cat out from under the bed with a lighter. (I was the brains, he was the brawn... Learned from Bambi that animals were afraid of fire...) We were lucky, there were no injuries, and I noticed the fire shortly after the underside of the bed caught, so the damage was contained to the master suite (with extensive smoke damage across the whole upstairs level). It took my dad about a year to renovate the damage, while my mom, me and my siblings were relocated for a time. Not sure how much time you've had between then and now to go through and see what is salvageable. You might be surprised. Fridge/freezer contents are likely to be untouched. (we store important documents in the freezer for this reason) A cedar chest was untouched (and was stored either under the bed that caught fire, or near it, in the same room. Everything else was burned. Some things can be cleaned from smoke damage (like books and toys) with time. I still recognize the smell of a house fire, to this day. As for jokes.. Not really a joke, but something that was funny to my 6/7 year old mind was the way the floor squished when I walked on it after. Kinda like the bed.
@andreademirel5911 "...we store important documents in the freezer for this reason..." my respect for sharing that lesson 💖💖 Somehow I can relate even if I didn't have to. The most valuable lessons in our lifes seems we have to be taught by strict and merciless teachers
After getting rang out the house at 2AM by police and the fire department one night because our neighbor’s house was on fire and they were trying to keep the fire off our home- I can only begin to imagine what you guys have been through. It’s terrifying. I learned about fire blankets afterwards and keep them in our bedrooms and the kitchen. Works great with grease fires and moving people out of a fire relatively safely. I am so so sorry this happened to you guys 😓
I should get some fire blankets too tbh... better than using an extinguisher and getting everything so messy! our fire was around midnight as well, it sucked for sure
I’m so sad to hear this happened. The worst things always happen to the best people. I’ll keep you in my prayers as you recover from this tragedy. I’m so relieved to hear you and your wife are okay. Also, talk about commitment to your community! If my house burned I’d take a day off. I’m so glad your okay.
@FunkyFishy910 I guess, my therapist would answer to "the worst things always happen to the best people" by just stating: "that is belief. and you can always choose a different one." I guess, it's about time, good people learn to trust in good things :-)
I've been converted. I was a big proponent of confetti gravel, artificial silicon decor, blacklight-glow... I set up my first planted tank a couple months ago with a handful of cherry shrimp and a nerite snail. It's so gorgeous. I stare at it for hours. The shrimp are so happy (there are so many baby shrimp right now that was a shock) they swim around and climb the plants. Ugh it's heaven. I'm saving up for a bigger tank now so I can include fish in the next one.
I soooo f***ng feel you 😍😍 - yeah, though I never really felt attracted to confetti gravel and silicon decor, Chris still converted me to a better understanding for the soul and preciousness that lives in every being, no matter how tiny it may seem from our perspective 💞
Horrible situation... so I finally joined your patreon and paid for a year of subscription, figure you need it more now than later. Fellow fire survivor. Glad to hear the fish are ok. How are Millie and Ripashi? My birds survived the fire, but needed a lot of support after for smoke inhalation. The mice too. Hope you get settled somewhere new soon and safely.
dang am I a fire survivor now?! I didn't even think about that... wow I'm so impressed your birds and even mice survived. Glad to hear that. Milly and pash were at my parent's, thank the good Lord
I'm glad you, the wife, and your fishies made it out ok. How are your other animals doing? I admire your dedication despite the circumstances. Thanks for all you do! My poor attempts at fire jokes: - That Fire was over 9000! - Someone should sponser you a Waterbed stocked with Fire Gobies and Ember Tetras to remind you that you'll always be on FIRE - Your house got Roy Mustang'd
I have a large group of kuhlis and most of them are pretty friendly. We see them enough that we recognize the individuals (by pattern) and named them lol.
yup! Both are staying at my parent's house. Repashy would probably not even know there's a fire, but if milly was there she'd probably have died. either burned or have some serious lung issues.
Man, I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm a new home owner and my new biggest fear is my house burning down when I'm not home. I mean, it shouldn't...but it could. I'm sorry dude!!!
I’m so sorry!!! But, dang, I’m so impressed that you still got an FTR out- and with bittersweet humor. No fire joke- but you got to check out the song “Is That All There Is?” sung by Cristina (1980) Tasteless but wonderfully so!
So glad you and the wife are alright!!! That's so scary. Mad respect for not skipping FTR, I feel like if there was any excuse you could have used that would have been it because HOLY COW.
Pro tip for seeing kuhli loach: live in a stormy climate where the barometric pressure is always changing. I'm in FL and it's hurricane season, it's like a loach disco in my tank
Now, THAT's astonishing... @Brackish_Babe - okay, so, we just need some scientists and engineers to construct some kind of barometric biotope and let's go :-)
The buildings in the first one are some of the N-Scale or 1/144 diorama buildings that are designed for display with Gundam model kits. They're relatively expensive to acquire...at least in the US. I have a couple of those on my shelf...

And I couldn't agree more with your comments about how there's nothing we can do about badly bred fish other than try to give them the best care we can and, for breeders, make sure they're as healthy as they can be
"Buying kuhli loaches because they're cute. Realizing it's the last time you will ever see them again."
And *that* is why I probably won't get a bristlenose pleco xD Having a pet you'll never get to see but still have to clean up their mess. Great advice tho!
Hope things get better for you btw!
tyty!
You always make my Tuesdays better (I live in nz)
That tank in the back is beutiful
thanks it's just a recording of my tank on a computer screen haha
@@FishForThought 😮 as long as your wife isn't just an animation on a computer screen - no, still... damn, very sorry for your loss, Chris
"I survived because the fire in my ass burned hotter than the flames around me"
Very sorry to hear about your house and your fish. I hope you´ll be able to build everything back up soon!
You´re always so very fired up reviewing fish tanks and dissing the awful ones, your house really didn´t need to follow that example!
ahahaha fired up nice
Chirs 😂 I really love these videos, you’ve taught me so many things…..please never stop! Also I don’t know how you’d make a city sky-rise without it being artificial lol buildings are artificial to begin with 😅😅😅
I'm so sorry to hear you had a house fire, losing your fish is devastating!! I'm glad that you and your partner are safe and okay! You're an absolute legend for keeping your video schedule despite such a horrible thing happening. I've never bought merch before but I grabbed a hoodie, it's not much but I hope it can help in a small way, stay awesome!
aw ty! I hope you enjoy!
FYI. Get ready to have PTSD whenever you smell something burning.
oh gosh LOL
We are glad you're ok, take care pal. This video was fire.
hahaha ty ty
I'm so sorry about your home chris! commenting to boost!
tysm!!!
I also just learned that I can send money through TH-cam. Look at that… I am getting old 😂
@@kayfromtheg9846 🎆🎆🎇🎇🎉🎉❣❣
I should get some fire blankets too tbh... better than using an extinguisher and getting everything so messy!
our fire was around midnight as well, it sucked for sure
I’m so sad to hear this happened. The worst things always happen to the best people. I’ll keep you in my prayers as you recover from this tragedy. I’m so relieved to hear you and your wife are okay. Also, talk about commitment to your community! If my house burned I’d take a day off. I’m so glad your okay.
@FunkyFishy910 I guess, my therapist would answer to "the worst things always happen to the best people" by just stating: "that is belief. and you can always choose a different one."
I guess, it's about time, good people learn to trust in good things :-)
TH-cam, I demand you send me my FTR notification sooner. 45mins is unacceptable
TH-cam is a slow burn I guess
@@FishForThought It's simply unforgivable, the improvement of our Mondays is an urgent matter!
Chris, I'm sooo sorry to hear about the fire. I'm glad to hear everyone's okay including the fishies! (I hope Millie and Repashi are also okay!)
Horrible situation... so I finally joined your patreon and paid for a year of subscription, figure you need it more now than later. I've watched your videos every week for a while now so I want to support. Sorry about your fish. If you do take a week here and there off though, I wouldn't blame you. Take care of yourself.
My poor attempts at fire jokes:
- That Fire was over 9000!
- Someone should sponser you a Waterbed stocked with Fire Gobies and Ember Tetras to remind you that you'll always be on FIRE
- Your house got Roy Mustang'd
oh man xD roy mustang'd
Sorry to hear that man. Hope you guys stay safe and have a lekker day and year too.
tyty!
I have a large group of kuhlis and most of them are pretty friendly. We see them enough that we recognize the individuals (by pattern) and named them lol.
hey this house looks FIRE 🔥🔥🏠🏠
Sorry to hear abt the fire man. Hope everything is fine. Keep the positive vibes burnin
Did Repashy and your beautiful bird make it out as well? (fingers, toes, and everything crossed.)
yup! Both are staying at my parent's house. Repashy would probably not even know there's a fire, but if milly was there she'd probably have died. either burned or have some serious lung issues.
@@FishForThoughtoh I'm so glad... phew
@@suikatime wonderful, sorry even before you and your wife they were my first thoughts
Both of them are so much apart of our videos
That fish tank cam is fire
thanks!
Just glad you’re safe and sound. Video was 🔥
8:30 That looks like a baby dragon fly. They eat baby mosquitos among other critters. Full grown adults eat adult mosquitos and other flies.
Mad respect for not skipping FTR, I feel like if there was any excuse you could have used that would have been it because HOLY COW.
thank you!
My building burned down too!!! All my empathy...
wow... i rly hoped no one else was going through the same thing!!
That first tank with the plants and set up is giving Alice In Borderland
Pro tip for seeing kuhli loach: live in a stormy climate where the barometric pressure is always changing.
I'm in FL and it's hurricane season, it's like a loach disco in my tank
Now, THAT's astonishing... @Brackish_Babe - okay, so, we just need some scientists and engineers to construct some kind of barometric biotope and let's go :-)
Chris, so happy you’re okay! I hope everything is alright and thank you for your dedication to ftr. ❤
The buildings in the first one are some of the N-Scale or 1/144 diorama buildings that are designed for display with Gundam model kits. They're relatively expensive to acquire...at least in the US.
I have a couple of those on my shelf...
Oh my man, so sorry for what you are going through! Love the laughing through the hard times. I do the same. Just don’t have the heart to roast you, looks like you did that good enough on your own 😅
So sorry about the fire. Having lost everything in fires 3 times, I know your pain. It's not so much the furniture that hurts, it's losing things like pictures and sentimental items. (((((Hugs to you and your wife)))))

Holy crap! I am terrified something will catch on fire. I don't have any fire jokes, tho. Take care of yourself.
thank you!
Hey ftr i am so sorry to hear about your house. Hopefully everything turns around soon be safe you guys.
Glad you are safe. Sorry you have to go through the experience, Chirs.
thanks man!
Thank God you both are alright.🙏
