I cleaned them like I was supposed to, I didn't sleep on them, I only messed with them with clean hands so they wouldn't heal up around the earring, and was super careful when showering. so DO NOT GO TO CLAIRES. go to a professional!

But many people will go and do the same and as far as I've seen on my own ear and from friends most people get quite a lot of problems when it's pierced that way. The thing with the infections is that the gun can’t be sterilized with an autoclave. Doctors and dentists autoclave their tools, and if your paying for the piercing I don’t see why you wouldn’t want the most sterilization. Also there’s the blunt force trama of the jewelry going through skin which raises chances of keloids and cartilage practically breaking. I’ve had that happen, not fun.

Piercing guns are so bad. It shatters your cartilage and there is a higher risk for an infection since it doesn't give the piercings room to heal. Next time go to a tattoo parlor and get it done with a hallow needle, it's way better for your ear and since it takes out the skin it gives your piercing room to heal properly.
Abby Vorhees i have 3 peircings on my left ear, 1 of them so off that their chiping on my cartilage (where the cartilage bone starts) and the peircer is using gun. It hurts like hell, my cartilage is broken and it also get infection (i'm not touching it for about 6 weeks cause it hurts so much and I cant sleep on my left side) now the infection is gone but there are still lumps on it

Morgan Barger no. That's not true, don't touch them at all. Soak them with saline solution(or salt water pretty much the same) and don't touch them or play with them until fully healed.
I am a guy with 3 lobe piercings in left ear, 3 cartiledge in same and 1 lobe piercing in right ear. Have thought about joining up left ear but watching you has definetly inspired me to get right 2nd lobe piercing, still undecided about left. Thanks for video. Ear looks amazing.
While personally I think you should get everything done with a needle I can agree that any ear lobe piercings are fine to be done with a gun yea you may get infection but there’s not much that can go extremely wrong on the other hands never get cartilage pierced with a gun it can shatter the cartilage and cause serious damage always get it done professionally with a needle
Guns are not recommended for lobes either. Just go to a piercing or tattoo shop and get them done properly. Guns just shove the jewelry through the skin, whereas a tri bevel needle leaves a clean hole and doesn't traumatize your ear. Be safe and go to a professional. Claires or walmart or anyone with a gun isn't a professional. They dont train or anything. They just line it up and pull the trigger. Its fucked up tbh. Just go to a certified piercer. They know how to do it and the needles are sterile. You can't clean a piercing gun and you risk severe infections and possibly a migrating or rejecting piercing. Its horrible

you might not want to get your cartilage pierced there but I got two of my piercings done there and I've never gotten infection and both piercings healed well
I had my Cartlidge peirced 10 years ago with a gun. No issues at all. I spoke with a few doctors who said both a gun and needles are traumatic to your ears equally so 🤷♀️ do whatever. Whenever you get any kind of peircing you take a risk.

It makes me cringe when I see people getting piercings with a gun. Please don't! Piercing guns are dangerous and very un-sanity. I speak from experience. I have 44 ear piercings (90% were with a needle). It's cleaner to shove a tooth pick through your ear than it is to use a piercing gun
yeah one of my moms friends has about 20-40 (idk the exact number, sorry!) piercings in her ears because they're all small and placed beside of each other. they're really cute, not gonna lie!
honestly this was not a smart move AT ALL. the absolute worst part is that you got this done at the mall. those chicks are not trained properly. they work at a cheap jewelry kiosk. I wish you the best of luck!
I wouldn't even use them for lobes. They are still unable to be sterilised and are wielded by untrained "piercers". That and it is harder to line up the entrance and exit of the piercing with them.

I had my helix peirced with a gun at Claires over 6 months ago. It still gets infected and irritated. But then I got two other cartlidge peircings done with a hollow needle a month ago and although it hurt like heck when it went through they are doing fabulous!!!
You're honestly so lucky your cartilage hasn't cracked due to the fact you're using a gun. Cartilage is thin bone. It will crack. And that's blunt trauma. Piercing guns push the skin out of the way while a needle takes the skin out so that it won't reject or anything. This was so dangerous I don't get why you would do this to yourself. Cartilage is not thin bone, its a flexible rubber-like material that cushions joints and obviously makes up your ear. It will crack and shatter like bone but it is not bone.

i'm pretty sure they're still piercings because there is a hole in my ear with an earring. But, thank you for your opinion. I can't go back and redo them unless I let them completely close, and then re pierce the exact same area, which in my opinion would be pointless. My top cartilage on my left ear was done with a gun and it healed beautifully.

@Cuacualti Satiah 🌻 Hey, I originally got it done with a gun, and it scarred my cartilage. I eventually took the piercing out and even had to pop the area from time to time to get the puss out. I had a bump there, but last year, I got re-pierced correctly with a needle. Thankfully, everything is fine. My cartilage is just a bit thicker in that area!

I had my cartilage pierced with a gun at Wal-Mart when I was in sixth grade (I'm now a freshman in college) and I never had a problem with it. It never got infected or anything. I went and got my belly button and industrial bar done at a piercing/tattoo place and both piercings rejected and got infected a lot. It could have been my body not liking the metal, but I don't know.
I have 7 piercings and all of them were done with a gun (including cartilage!) They all turned out just fine and I've had them for over 3 years. It may not be the best way to get it done, but it certainly isn't the worst. Mine were all done at Claire's too :)

there’s a lot of negative feedback on the use of a gun, so i thought id add something different. i don’t like how the piercings are in a line. there’s different kinds of ear piercings where you could pierce inside. looks plain and boring to me.
Oh boy... they're so badly done. The placement is terrible and it doesn't really look good because of it (but you do you so as long as you're happy I guess). Next time go to a real piercer because it may seems like you have no problem with your "piercings" (lmao) but it caused so much damages inside, your cartilage is fucked forever.
Hopefully her cartilage is okay, the guns can shatter it and cause major damage. Guns make piercings more prone to infection as well. I added two piercings to my ears over a year ago at Claire's and used the "three week" cleanser religiously. Still use it daily, still healing. Had at least three infections on them shortly after they were done. Never again.

But just because yours was fine doesn't mean it will be for everyone? Theres a high chance of it getting infected. But if you have a needle and proper jewlery and care for it well, theres barely any chance of anything happening to it.

if you get it your 2nd lobe piercings done with a needle it will not hurt as its quicker and easier to get the jewlery in. As well as that, the gun uses the force of the earring being stabbed through the ear but the needle easily glides through. :)
From my experience there was no difference getting pierced with a gun vs. a needle. It’s kind of an old wives tale that it’s bad to pierce with a gun. But, everyone’s ears are different. I’ve had my ears done by a gun and a needle, and pierced ears at home and they were fine. I feel it really depends on how you take care of your piercing and where it is.
Both piercings I have had done with a needle grew a keloid and just would not heal. Some people have no problems with piercing guns. Both have their risks and a successful healing is not always guaranteed with either. Guns are perfectly fine on the lobe up to the fourth piercing, especially the new ones.

I had my Cartlidge peirced 10 years ago with a gun. No issues at all. I spoke with a few doctors who said both a gun and needles are traumatic to your ears equally so 🤷♀️ do whatever. Whenever you get any kind of peircing you take a risk.

I’ve got my cartilage pierced with a gun and it healed perfectly fine and I had no problems with it but I do prefer hollow point needles for piercings
It makes me cringe when I see people getting piercings with a gun. Please don't! Piercing guns are dangerous and very un-sanity. I speak from experience. I have 44 ear piercings (90% were with a needle). It's cleaner to shove a tooth pick through your ear than it is to use a piercing gun

I wouldn't even use them for lobes. They are still unable to be sterilised and are wielded by untrained "piercers". That and it is harder to line up the entrance and exit of the piercing with them.

I had my helix peirced with a gun at Claires over 6 months ago. It still gets infected and irritated. But then I got two other cartlidge peircings done with a hollow needle a month ago and although it hurt like heck when it went through they are doing fabulous!!!

You're honestly so lucky your cartilage hasn't cracked due to the fact you're using a gun. Cartilage is thin bone. It will crack. And that's blunt trauma. Piercing guns push the skin out of the way while a needle takes the skin out so that it won't reject or anything. This was so dangerous I don't get why you would do this to yourself. Thee people aren't trained to be piercing either omfg
Cartilage is not thin bone, its a flexible rubber-like material that cushions joints and obviously makes up your ear. It will crack and shatter like bone but it is not bone.

Reagan Froehlich I didn't realise that the needle makes a proper hole and the gun doesn't. I had mine done both ways and the needle was much better.

The grey spot may be from sterling silver jewellery, which can stain skin black permanently.

i'm pretty sure they're still piercings because there is a hole in my ear with an earring. But, thank you for your opinion. I can't go back and redo them unless I let them completely close, and then re pierce the exact same area, which in my opinion would be pointless. My top cartilage on my left ear was done with a gun and it healed beautifully.
BeautyBySamixox please I encourage you to at least switch to TITANIUM jewelry. They make all kinds of pretty jewels and types of them, it's safer for your body and you never have to worry about them deteriorating.

Watching this gave me a genuine headache😢 I had the one done with a gun and regretted it instantly. I wish I'd done research instead of listening to my friends because I've got a hypotropic scarring and it still hurts even after a year and a half 😭

@Cuacualti Satiah 🌻 Hey, I originally got it done with a gun, and it scarred my cartilage. I eventually took the piercing out and even had to pop the area from time to time to get the puss out. I had a bump there, but last year, I got re-pierced correctly with a needle. Thankfully, everything is fine. My cartilage is just a bit thicker in that area!

I’m lowkey just being paranoid LOL cuz I literally just got piercing kit from Amazon &+ did 2 piercings holes on my lobes myself yesterday (which I have 4 in total before adding extra 2 holes in each lobe] I even have both sides of my ear cartilage pierced as well from a gun. All my piercings have been w a gun never had a issue thank God. I’m just hoping I have no issues on my lobes.
@Cuacualti Satiah 🌻 when I pierced myself, I did it with the piercing needles on my lobes. But I always go to the professionals for my cartilage! Since I first commented 5 years ago, I've had my helix redone, and then had my tragus, conch, and rook 😊

I had my cartilage pierced with a gun at Wal-Mart when I was in sixth grade (I'm now a freshman in college) and I never had a problem with it. It never got infected or anything. I went and got my belly button and industrial bar done at a piercing/tattoo place and both piercings rejected and got infected a lot. It could have been my body not liking the metal, but I don't know.
I have 7 piercings and all of them were done with a gun (including cartilage!) They all turned out just fine and I've had them for over 3 years. It may not be the best way to get it done, but it certainly isn't the worst. Mine were all done at Claire's too :)
I have 2 Tragus piercings ( 1 on each ear ) and 6 lobes ( 3 on each ear) and 1 daith, they were all done with a needle

Oh boy... they're so badly done. The placement is terrible and it doesn't really look good because of it (but you do you so as long as you're happy I guess). Next time go to a real piercer because it may seems like you have no problem with your "piercings" (lmao) but it caused so much damages inside, your cartilage is fucked forever.

Hopefully her cartilage is okay, the guns can shatter it and cause major damage. Guns make piercings more prone to infection as well. I added two piercings to my ears over a year ago at Claire's and used the "three week" cleanser religiously. Still use it daily, still healing. Had at least three infections on them shortly after they were done. Never again.

But just because yours was fine doesn't mean it will be for everyone? Theres a high chance of it getting infected. But if you have a needle and proper jewlery and care for it well, theres barely any chance of anything happening to it.

I have a piercing in each ear that I have gotten pierced twice (the first time it closed up and got an infection), 1. Does stitching it up hurt? And 2, does a 2nd piercing right next to your single one on each ear hurt if anyone can tell me? Thanks💕
if you get it your 2nd lobe piercings done with a needle it will not hurt as its quicker and easier to get the jewlery in. As well as that, the gun uses the force of the earring being stabbed through the ear but the needle easily glides through. :)

From my experience there was no difference getting pierced with a gun vs. a needle. It’s kind of an old wives tale that it’s bad to pierce with a gun. But, everyone’s ears are different. I’ve had my ears done by a gun and a needle, and pierced ears at home and they were fine. I feel it really depends on how you take care of your piercing and where it is.

Both piercings I have had done with a needle grew a keloid and just would not heal. Some people have no problems with piercing guns. Both have their risks and a successful healing is not always guaranteed with either. Guns are perfectly fine on the lobe up to the fourth piercing, especially the new ones.
