Thanks for this review and keeping Justin’s songs alive with his fabulous guitar, you do a lovely job. I play his music also, what an artist he was. Thanks
Thanks Mark. I'm 70 and in Australia. Unfortunately I have only just recently heard Justin's work (and love it). I am terribly sorry I didn't get to see him perform live but thanks for your videos and information. Love your playing and renditions
Cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your awesome renditions of these JTE songs. And I share your admiration of Justin and I am devoted fan of his body of work. It broke my heart to hear his wife talk about how he retreated into isolation after his disappointment over the reception of his last record album. Thank you so much for putting this video together, and you did an excellent job with it, Mark.
Man I want one so badly, no chance getting in South Africa though. I was meant to see Justin open for Brian Fallon when I was in DC but then Covid happened and I had to come back home, kept saying I’ll get my chance to see him one day, was absolutely broken when he passed. You are a true legend for keeping his music alive!
The hardest part of learning this rhythmic pattern is "unlearning" the muscle memory. My right hand finger picking patterns that are burn into memory. As soon as I move my left hand pinky, my right hand switches into a finger picking pattern. I'll keep working on it! Practice, practice, practice. Thank's, I never knew of Justin until I watched your video.
Dude, I just bought mine earlier today and I can hardly wait the 3 to 5 business days that its gonna take to arrive at my doorstep. Watching your video just makes me even more excited to finally get my hands on it. Thank you SO much for taking the time to make this video. By the way, you really capture the essence of Justin's playing style, those were some of the best covers I've ever seen of his songs and I can tell you really love his music. Unfortunately I discovered his music a few months after he had passed so I never had the pleasure of seeing him live. I've been listening to his music everyday now for over a year, he was one of the greats in my book. RIP JTE. ❤
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found his music and I’m sure you’ll love the guitar. It’s unfortunate that you can’t see him live but check out his performances with Joshua Hedley here on TH-cam. They’re phenomenal!
Excellent playing, man! I've been thinking a lot about that "Ain't Glad I'm Leaving" song since he passed. Definitely my favorite as well. Please post more of these!
F#$king brilliant. This sort of stuff is so hard to cover, and you're killing it. I got meet him and hangout for half an our or so after a show, only maybe a couple months before he passed. I feel so lucky to have met him, but losing him was awful. A total song-writing guitar-playing hero for me personally. This material is great, keep it up mate! Well done.
Very much appreciated. It’s definitely not the easiest style and he’s a songwriting legend to me as well. You’re lucky you got to meet him, I never had the pleasure.
This is great, thanks for putting in the effort to record it. You really replicate his beguilingly simple and unorthodox playing techniques better than anyone I've seen try. UPS is supposed to get mine to me tomorrow and I can't wait to play it.
JTE was an incredible singer-songwriter. A giant really. Rest east JTE. You're playing was excellent. Could you post a video to show in a slower tempo how to strum like Justin? You've got it down and I'd love to learn how to play his music. I've been a long-time fan and that would be amazing. Thanks for this video!
I couldn’t agree more. One of the best to ever do it in my opinion. And your video idea is interesting. I’ll get to work on how to best approach making that video and hopefully have one out soon. Thanks!
Mighty interesting thing about the need for the quick decay. You got that Justin thing locked in. He really did have it going on and really was his own man. That thing he did of tailing off the lyrics into the next was so Justin.
I’m sorry for your loss. Please let me know how that show goes. I badly want to go but can’t make it. I’m sure it will be a great celebration of his life and music.❤️
Sorry for your loss bro it's bad enough such a talented young guy died but to find out it was because some douche sold him some amped up sniff makes it even worse. So avoidable I'll never figure out why anyone would put that deadly shit in there stuff to sell on knowing there is a 99% chance the user could die. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy but I really believe whoever sold him that shit should be hunted down and charged with murder cause it's premeditated so it's 1st degree in my mind. Tragic, tragic loss for his family and friends and the music world in general.
@@mrjasondylan thanks man . Apparently he barely did half a bump and that was it. From what I was told he had a couple laid out and that's all it took. That stuff is a chemical weapon as far as I am concerned . I am glad I am sober . This is crazy . Stay safe out there yall 🙏
Got mine this week. Really enjoy the guitar, I like the sound, but was dissapointed to see that, after less than a week of playing, the fret inlay markings (which I love, mind you) are already rubbing off. I mean, this is a cheaper guitar, sure, but I didn't expect this at all. I don't mind a beat up electric, but this thing looks so nice it'll be a shame when those details come off. How's yours looking, man?
Really glad you left your feedback! Now that I look at my guitar, there does seem to be a bit of wear on the inlay markings. I do have an older Recording King with similar inlay markings, and have had no issues in 5ish years of use. Thanks for listening, and if I see more of an issue I’ll let you know.
@@morningnewsmusic Interesting regarding your other Recording King guitar. Maybe just something with this model/production line, who knows? For me, it's my first guitar with painted-on inlays, so hard to compare against anything else I have.
Your missing a chord on ain't waitin. Try 20001x with a 20003x hammer as an alternative to the D but he does do the 000232 at the end of the song. Try it Weird but so justin... I learned it watching him play it live
Did Justin even know how good he was? I’m sure the government lockdowns played a part in his death😩 Can u believe his dad Steve my fav artist ever actually sent me a private message from his own channel with his email on after I expressed my being sorry to hear about Justin. I never did get in touch but it just shows what a good guy Steve is
That's a bit harsh the guy ain't Justin and he didn't write these tunes, that aside from the many covers I've heard of JTE over the years this guy has the vocal down as good as anyone else I've heard on here. Nobody is ever gonna sound exactly like JTE and nobody sounds like Lennon or Dylan we all have our own voice and the reason the writer sounded so hurt and soulful is cause he lived them lyrics every line he experienced first hand. That's why Justin was a world famous recording artist cause he had that x factor that can't be bought or taught it's real. The guy here is not bearing his soul he's just paying a tribute to someone he admired and imo he does a really good job at it.
@@mrjasondylan that's exactly why I prefaced the comment with no disrespect. Still singing an emotional song with no emotion just feels hollow and empty.
Thanks for this review and keeping Justin’s songs alive with his fabulous guitar, you do a lovely job. I play his music also, what an artist he was. Thanks
Appreciate that. I've been listening to him quite a bit recently. Still blown away by his talent and how under appreciated it was.

I very much appreciate that. We were so lucky to have Justin. One special songwriter.
Incredible
Looks and sounds amazing

Fantastic covers. Great stuff.. yes missing Justin Townes Earle, nice to know the music lives on and continues to influence and inspire.

Wow you sing absolutely beautiful
This is just fantastic
Wow...what a beautiful video...glad I watched
Good job, just saw Steve Earle and Emmy Lou on Candlelight tour. Sorry I missed Justin live😎✌️🎶

Well done. Both with the covers and highlighting the guitar ... Peace JTE...
Aw. Good man. Fantastic video and little tribute to JTE. God Bless.
This is probably the best review of this guitar I have ever seen and it is a perfect tribute to the man and the guitar.

Well played!! Nice technique from JTE too!
Well done! I really enjoyed this.
You did a great job. You and Recording King have a right to be proud.
Love your singing and playing.
great covers mate.
Yep. That’s the Justin Townes Earle sound all right. I’m checking one out at a local Music go Round tomorrow…
I like this...great stuff!
Awesome 🤘
Very nice! Enjoyed that
Excellent playing, man! I've been thinking a lot about that "Ain't Glad I'm Leaving" song since he passed. Definitely my favorite as well. Please post more of these!
Thank you!! I know quite a few JTE tunes so I guess I will. Appreciate the support!
Ain't Glad I'm Leaving is a Swindlers tune.
Excellent cover! Definitely did him justice
perfect, man.
Absolutely amazing, well done! It’s a real shame about Justin, also one of my influences.
☑️👍güdd song werk bro❗️ ..although i cannot say i know JTE music ; i have a huge passion in small bodied acoustic guitars ‼️🙃☻️🌙

great man, just picked up one for myself!
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
good for you, man
Have one....like the dry, raw sound.....figured for years been playing this style...
Awesome covers!

Killing it bro
Hell yeah. Jte was my cousin. I'm looking forward to his birthday at the ryman.

Any chance you could cover Lone Pine Hill?
I'll consider it! I have a few video ides lined up but I'll add it to the list. I'm going to be a making a sort of recap of his memorial show soon.
Is that a RA and the cards tat next to the Justin one?
Hey, don't suppose you know what Recording King Justin played and what strings he used? Have come across lots of conflicting info online!
I've also been trying to figure out what strings he used - if you find out, please report back :)
Picked one up recently…it was a lil dehydrated, but after a week of plastic bag quarantine, it is sounding sweet!
Great covers and singing.

Does anyone knows the song played in the intro?
That would be “Let the Waters Rise” off of JTE’s Yuma EP
Is that a red heeler dog?
Yep! That’s my Rosie

Awesome, I'll do just that. All of those little subtleties make his stuff so good.
Appreciate the feedback!
Are the markers painted on?
JTE tattoo

No disrespect but it's like hearing JTE minus all the heartache, pain, addiction, and strife in the vocals. Played smoothly, just no soul.
