- One of Donna Summer's best, but never released as a single, let alone an extended version. So, I made one myself, in homage to Disconet and Hot Tracks, the 1980s promotional remix services.

for all of us in our fast approaching 60, I can honestly say I feel sorry for those who were not around when this amazing women was at her height. well I know this may not sound cool but i loved disco. and this women owned it

This is the best sequence from the album. Can never get tired of listening on loop to this song.
I really wish Donna had made another album with Casablanca in mid 1980, it would have been of incredible quality. Wanderer was not quite pure disco.
I think it was a revolutionary sound for 1979, I've discovered these albums in the middle of the 80's
It was indeed revolutionary.
Once you free your mind of the concept of music and harmony being correct you can do what you want.
wanderer album should have omitted "i believe in jesus" and by mid 1981 she should have released another dance album with casablanca.
...what I've always loved about this Song, is it's 'open-ended'-ness; The Woman took a chance on a one-night stand, in hopes of a lifetime Love, but cherishes the 'moment' MORE, than the outcome...I, as Gay Man in his late-50's, I know ALL TOO WELL of those missed 'opportunities' that may have had different outcomes...
....THAT'S why she was Queen of DISCO, Kids....and if YOU'RE 'lucky', you'll go for a ride....take the CHANCE.... ; )

It is a pitty that this number is not included on the very best of- album. It has the same drive as ' I feel love' and great synth loops. I remember listening this track over and over again when I was a kid. The music still stands out, a timeless masterpiece. This remix sounds amazingly good, well done.
Now really, this record was released over 40 years ago, still sound so fresh like yesterday, so that means i'm old, and i am, 60 in july. Still love Donna..

I think artist back then ( including musicians) made music from the heart. That’s the difference from today’s music.
There was no road before her. Her voice was so natural and gifted. She paved the way for Disco. She is and always be remembered as the Queen of Disco. RIP Mrs. Summer. You where so loved and admired. ;-)

Coming out 40 years ago, I related much to this song. A great dance song but sad inevitable lyrics. Thus the club scene then. Lucky came easy. Lucky was the chance. But If you were lucky, you'd go for a ride...if only for a moment in time.

Probably. She inspired New Order’s Blue Monday with “Our Love.” Also Michael Jackson’s “Black and White” with “Cold Love.” Donna Summer was, of course, super famous, but she didn’t get her due for laying the blue print of so many genres of music.
Yes, after listening many times I would agree with the similar sounding synth riff. Love is a Stranger is also inspired by David Bowie and Bryan Ferry.

I think Hot Stuff should have been #1 for the year 1979, and #1 in sales for many consecutive weeks. It sold over 2 million copies. The whole Bad Girls album was phenomenal. Live and More was really good, as well.
First listened to the 4th side (Full fledged Electronic Disco) in mid 1987. It blew my mind away. Continues to do so.
Yet (that year) she lost most of the Grammys to Dionne Warwick. That's when I stopped watching the Grammys.

love her. I was actually at Universal Amphitheater when they recorded DONNA SUMMER LIVE AND MORE. I was 15. All the songs on the album were sung FULLY ( not a medley like on the album ) There were a lot of songs sung that night that didn't make it on the album... like I REMEMBER YESTERDAY, WINTER MELODY and a bunch of others ( if you are interested i can tell you which ones. BAD GIRLS had not come out yet so no songs off that album were sung that night. She also had her daughter MIMI there and there was a HUGE HUGE fireworks display. The temperature that night was very warm ( it was in the summertime when Universal Amp. didnt have a roof on it , so it was "outdoors". I'd be happy to answer any questions..

I saw “Bad Girls” concert st the Universsl AmPhitheater. It had not yet been enclosed- was like the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek. Summer ‘79 I think. Warm. So nice under the stars.
