...what I've always loved about this Song, is it's 'open-ended'-ness; The Woman took a chance on a one-night stand, in hopes of a lifetime Love, but cherishes the 'moment' MORE, than the outcome...I, as Gay Man in his late-50's, I know ALL TOO WELL of those missed 'opportunities' that may have had different outcomes... ....THAT'S why she was Queen of DISCO, Kids....and if YOU'RE 'lucky', you'll go for a ride....take the CHANCE.... ; )
for all of us in our fast approaching 60, I can honestly say I feel sorry for those who were not around when this amazing women was at her height. well I know this may not sound cool but i loved disco. and this women owned it
...May-Oct. of 1979 (Dec., too, with Barbra)... "Bad Girls" (& Donna), OWNED 1979...I was THERE, and, I still cherish that time....glad YOU did, too..... ; )
Now really, this record was released over 40 years ago, still sound so fresh like yesterday, so that means i'm old, and i am, 60 in july. Still love Donna..
I don't know where I'd be in life if it wasn't for Donna Summers rockin my world at the age of 17... I'm almost 60 now, and appreciate her music and sound so much more.
This is the best sequence from the album. Can never get tired of listening on loop to this song. I really wish Donna had made another album with Casablanca in mid 1980, it would have been of incredible quality. Wanderer was not quite pure disco.
Donna Summer created a legacy which cannot be destroyed, forgotten nor dispareged. She laid the foundations of modern dance music.RIP Sister and DEEP RESPECT
It is a pitty that this number is not included on the very best of- album. It has the same drive as ' I feel love' and great synth loops. I remember listening this track over and over again when I was a kid. The music still stands out, a timeless masterpiece. This remix sounds amazingly good, well done.
There was no road before her. Her voice was so natural and gifted. She paved the way for Disco. She is and always be remembered as the Queen of Disco. RIP Mrs. Summer. You where so loved and admired. ;-)
Donna once said in an interview, "Bad Girls" was her favorite album to work on. Of all the songs on the album, which there are a total of 14, "Bad Girls" became a worldwide success, peaking within the top-ten in seven countries. In the United States, it spent five weeks at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100, from the weeks of July 14, 1979 to August 11, 1979; and sold over two million copies."Hot Stuff", her most successful single, was the second-biggest song of 1979. The "Bad Girls" album reached multi-platinum status in the US. Lucky, Our Love, and Sunset People are my favorite, and are masterfully mixed.
I think Hot Stuff should have been #1 for the year 1979, and #1 in sales for many consecutive weeks. It sold over 2 million copies. The whole Bad Girls album was phenomenal. Live and More was really good, as well.
This mix makes you slowly close your eyes, turn up the music and lean back in your stupid old office chair while the headphones punch out mind blowing sounds that lull you into a head bobbing trippy excursion on the dance floor and ..."if you're lucky You'll go for a ride For a ride For a ride ......" ..... I sure do ... Every time ... I love this song and this version is boss ...
This was my secretly best loved song from her" bad girls" album-with this number she got back to her high singing, that brought her fame from 1975("love to love you baby", "try me, I know, we can make it","I feel love") to 1977!
This song perfectly captures my Hawaiian vacation when I was 18..went to a club called Hula's and met the perfect dude...i'll never forget that night or the few nights we had after that...everything was possible, life was great..and then, and then, and now...thx for the memories man!!!
Never a disco fan or even that crazy about Donna. But this entire side, and this song I loved since the first time I heard it! It’s lost none of its appeal! As a matter of fact, it sounds even better because it brings back memories
In a 70's disco! A ride in my new convertible with Donna blasting on full volume speeding down a dessert highway! Now at age 65 let's go for another last ride my Queen 👑. 💋❤️💋
Just liisten to that sweet angelic voice of Donna Summer''s & that incredible beat!! This sounds so extra beautiful & heavenly wonderful!! Donna Summer made this into a dream come true!! Way to go, Donna Summer!! I absolutely love this!! Donna Summer had such a sensational, one of a kind voice!! We are so blessed to have had the forever Queen of Disco to share her amazing voice & songs to liight up our llives!! You're in our hearts forever,Donna Summer!! Thank-you so much for all that you did for us!!
This Song has something I can't explain Well..... moves me so deep since it was released so long ago ... I can't get enough listening it . Great extended version. Thanks for posting. (from Fortaleza - Brazil)
One of the sweetest songs recorded...it's deep bcuz it kinda gets into the mindset of a lady of the evening and supposes that she might fall in love and actually likes the guy...you kinda don't know who's the "lucky" one LOL (The guy of course but still it's she who asks him to stay and she who seems to not want to say "goodnight") it's a really sweet song under all ...this song makes my whole body feel good and only Donna could give shamelessly a character like this the sweetness of heart necessary...just a genius on many levels and so missed!
I listened to this endlessly in my bedroom as a kid (17 or so) and created mental images of Lucky and Donna. Those were such sweet and care free times and I'm glad I was able to experience it. Love you Donna Summer
One my favorite songs by Donna...I am so privileged to say I got to see her in concert 3 times in the Chicagland area especially at The Mill Run Playhouse in the round...R.I.P. sugar lips 💋
Coming out 40 years ago, I related much to this song. A great dance song but sad inevitable lyrics. Thus the club scene then. Lucky came easy. Lucky was the chance. But If you were lucky, you'd go for a ride...if only for a moment in time.
I think this rings true even now. A large swatch of Gay culture is still very much focused on going for a ride if only momentarily. The trauma continues
love her. I was actually at Universal Amphitheater when they recorded DONNA SUMMER LIVE AND MORE. I was 15. All the songs on the album were sung FULLY ( not a medley like on the album ) There were a lot of songs sung that night that didn't make it on the album... like I REMEMBER YESTERDAY, WINTER MELODY and a bunch of others ( if you are interested i can tell you which ones. BAD GIRLS had not come out yet so no songs off that album were sung that night. She also had her daughter MIMI there and there was a HUGE HUGE fireworks display. The temperature that night was very warm ( it was in the summertime when Universal Amp. didnt have a roof on it , so it was "outdoors". I'd be happy to answer any questions..
I saw “Bad Girls” concert st the Universsl AmPhitheater. It had not yet been enclosed- was like the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek. Summer ‘79 I think. Warm. So nice under the stars. Everyone was up and dancing. Fab-U-Lus!! Check out my story about this mostly fabulous Donna Summer Summer- the summer I came out- on Medium: link.medium.com/9q1Dk8u4E9

I fell in love with this beautiful talented lady at the age of 16 I rushed out with my first wage to buy the 7in single LOVES UNKIND been a fan ever since RIP Donna sadly missed 😢
Donna had surely claimed Disco and some of the scenes followed by songs like this and Our Love but still had a few great numbers in the 80s as well. She changed what she did but it takes so much to keep a diva down and she never stayed down. R.I.P. Mrs, Sudano!
Nossa como dancei essa música nas tarde dançante de domingo até me emociono de falar nessa época linda fico feliz em ter feito parte dessa geração de ouro saudades
Great job on this excellent song - have always loved it in spite of (or possibly because of) the synthesizer that sounds like a fart the whole way through!
💟 Fantastic music from The Dinest Lady Summer .......one of her very best 💮 ....lyrics which have touched many lives since Spring 1979 when the legendary "Bad Girls" album hit the international streets ...I'll never forget It. Thank you soul much for this extension mix 🌞 💓
Probably. She inspired New Order’s Blue Monday with “Our Love.” Also Michael Jackson’s “Black and White” with “Cold Love.” Donna Summer was, of course, super famous, but she didn’t get her due for laying the blue print of so many genres of music.
Yes, after listening many times I would agree with the similar sounding synth riff. Love is a Stranger is also inspired by David Bowie and Bryan Ferry.
A disco club mix classic, beautifully executed ,& well done .Simply marvelous ! We will never forget the Queen of Disco .We love you Donna Summer for ever!💃👌💃👍💃🏆💃😘

You. Better. 😮😮
I think artist back then ( including musicians) made music from the heart. That’s the difference from today’s music.
I don't know where I'd be in life if it wasn't for Donna Summers rockin my world at the age of 17... I'm almost 60 now, and appreciate her music and sound so much more.
I'm 65 & fondly remember this song & immediately new I was the LUCKY one. 🤗
Pareil pour moi Katlaine

And Me Miss Her So Much xx
Giorgio and Donna are Genius!!!
Dona Summer and Giorgio Moroder, the best pop music meeting ever.
STILL breathtakingly haunting after all this time. LUCKY indeed.....we miss you Donna.
This is the best sequence from the album. Can never get tired of listening on loop to this song.
I really wish Donna had made another album with Casablanca in mid 1980, it would have been of incredible quality. Wanderer was not quite pure disco.
I think it was a revolutionary sound for 1979, I've discovered these albums in the middle of the 80's
It was indeed revolutionary.
Once you free your mind of the concept of music and harmony being correct you can do what you want.
wanderer album should have omitted "i believe in jesus" and by mid 1981 she should have released another dance album with casablanca.
I love this song... great creation from Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte also, the beauty voice of Donna Summer
The most underrated Donna Summer song.
jevitigre
Our Love too, it wasn't even on youtube for years
SharkSport I love Our Love - simply more than awesome
I agree with you ! Fortunately it could be found on the album Bad Girls.
I love it more because of that
they should have made it longer
Donna Summer created a legacy which cannot be destroyed, forgotten nor dispareged. She laid the foundations of modern dance music.RIP Sister and DEEP RESPECT
Words truly fail me now, at 52. This song is a masterpiece.....pure perfection.
It sure is
Yes gawd!!!
I'm agree
@@jamesmckee329 Oh, doesn’t it? I close my eyes and the present starts to fade!

Never tire of this classic Donna Summer song. ICONS LIVE FOREVER!
One of the RARE fortunes in this world is QUALITY MUSIC PRODUCTION and CHANCE to HEAR IT. THANK DEAR GOD !
There was no road before her. Her voice was so natural and gifted. She paved the way for Disco. She is and always be remembered as the Queen of Disco. RIP Mrs. Summer. You where so loved and admired. ;-)

First listened to the 4th side (Full fledged Electronic Disco) in mid 1987. It blew my mind away. Continues to do so.
Yet (that year) she lost most of the Grammys to Dionne Warwick. That's when I stopped watching the Grammys.
This mix makes you slowly close your eyes, turn up the music and lean back in your stupid old office chair while the headphones punch out mind blowing sounds that lull you into a head bobbing trippy excursion on the dance floor and ..."if you're lucky

Timeless, an analogue electronic masterpiece from the 70's . "So much was said, but nobody spoke a word."
this was a later album from the 80's , I remember chopping some snow on the album cover the day I bought it, the 60's meh, the 80's Yeah.

One of my absolute favorite songs by my Empress of Dance music, the Bad Girls album is a classic!!!
Great job on this excellent song - have always loved it in spite of (or possibly because of) the synthesizer that sounds like a fart the whole way through!
My thoughts too. It would be perfect without it!
Amazing seing this live for the first time 1979...it was wonderful
Fab original b side of no more tears (enough) is (enough) having bought it then . Just awesome. 😀❤️

I owned many of her vinyls in duplicate because I played them so much!
id bet this inspired The Eurythmics with Love Is A Stranger
.

Yes, after listening many times I would agree with the similar sounding synth riff. Love is a Stranger is also inspired by David Bowie and Bryan Ferry.
Bloody good point! I can't believe that never hit me before
Quando essa música começava nas discotecas a galera enlouquecia, dançei demais esse Hit que era a maior febre dos anos 80.
This song would be great playing at a night club with a disco ball spinning in the ceiling!
