So cool! Your blue one looks like icy landscapes. My older brother had a pink one, and yes, glowed in the dark; I recall a soft green glow. I'm sure Ace Frehley's solo album was playing while tilting the window, softly cascading. Also cool seeing your 6 million dollar man figures (I had one), your DnD books (I had the same), and your Stop Thief board game! WoW, Crazy Cars, too?!!? Ohhh, I'm def gonna watch that!
One year for Christmas, must have been 1978, I was ten...I asked for a yellow remote control van from Radio Shak, a TOMY Digital Derby Auto Raceway game, and a red MERLIN Electronic Wizard Handheld Game by Parker Bros. Best Christmas ever because I couldn't believe it... I received all three toys! Love your channel, Jon! Keep up the good work!
Found this video after trying to find the name of the Magic Window, my mom's aunt apparently use to have one my mom would play with. She remembers the movement being more milky looking but as we watched this video she realized at certain points the minerals moving around can look a bit milky. The conversation kinda happened cause she bought these frames with water & sand in it that make nice designs when the sand land at the bottom of the frame. Her partner got her a fancy round one for a gift a few years back & mom decided to buy some smaller ones that came in the mail recently. Pretty cool to see the toy that led to these moving sand art frames being in the house, never know what interesting things you'll find when looking around. That & learning about items my mom had or was around as a kid.
Hi. I don’t remember the magic window and never had one. My dad has a lot of my toys still. He believes everything is a collector item, lol. I still have the original Chewbacca and R2D2. I’d love to see more of your set. Please do more of these. Cool video. 👍👍👍
Wow! I had that exact one! I forgot all about it! I think we had a pink and white one too. Such a great show you have, Jon! 🎉 Thanks for the nostalgia, and please keep the great content coming! 👏🏻
This one really hits home because I have NOTHING from my childhood. I had one of these and a million other cool things (many of them on the shelf behind you) growing up in the 70's & 80's and have none of it. I'd give anything to go back and have the foresight to keep at least some of the stuff I had. Same thing goes for my first few cars. That's why we have boxes of stuff from my two boys who are now teenagers. Hopefully they'll appreciate getting a piece of their childhood back years from now like I would have.
I always kind of figured it was due to crystal density. The white "sand" is clearly much more feathery & lighter, so the blue/black "sand" shoves it to bottom when trying to fall. Defeating that behavior by adjusting the angle can make for some pretty remarkable (yet ephemeral) art pieces.
I never quite noticed that on the set behind you! My cousins had one and I always wanted one. Jon, I kid you not, I was searching Google just a few weeks ago to find more information, but I didn't know the *name* of it so my search didn't turn up much. So I super appreciate you covering it. ❤
So, what I'm going to say is a little emotional, but seeing this video tonight was quite a surprise because this (as I would call it) "artistic toy" was something that one of my brothers had as a child, which is rarely - if ever - featured online. I remember playing with it at a young age in the house I had grown up in, which feels like a lifetime ago at this point. Since l had a creative mind from the start, apparently, it was especially relaxing and enjoyable for how the Magic Window worked through the imagination. The sad and horrible thing of it is, my brother, unfortunately, had an incurable form of cancer and passed away not long after that time at only seven and a half years old. I was just over five. That toy was then kept in a box with other belongings for quite some time, though I would associate the memory of it for years and years and would even think of it when looking at clouds. I still often do, actually. Understandably, any time that I see or hear something in reference to my brother's - either grammatically, numerically, or sentimentally - I take it as a significantly good sign of that connection, spiritually. So, without meaning to, your video provided a moment in relation to this, and I appreciate it. Thanks as always for the channel.
That was cool. I'm not familiar with the Magic Window but it does seem like a great little toy for kids or adults. It would probably go over well today what with the fidget spinners and those popper things. Anyway, nice video and yes I do hope you'll do more like this.
@@GenXGrownUp They looked amazing at night. The best way I would describe that experience back then I’d say it was like looking at moving lava inside a volcano. 🌋 It was that amazing. Both windows were like night and day. The Blue gave sceneries of the ocean and mountain peaks while the pink wasn’t much to look at in the daylight but oh when the lights went out. ( just hold it near a bright light bulb for few seconds and what a show.) Good luck on finding a pink one. 😁
I got mine for Christmas to0 -- around 1971 I think. I think I sold it at a garage sale or gave it away. Sigh. later on they made a glow in the dark one too.
Nice! Thanks for sharing your past with us. Reminds me of mine. Hey I haven't seen any of the original GI-Joe action figures over there. Do you have one or if not, planning too? I remember getting them with my brother and playing with them, but lost them during a move. We moved a lot, so lost a lot of my stuff each year, but that's how it goes. I really enjoy looking over at your stuff because it brings me back to those times, so please keep posting videos of what you got on your set. God Bless you and your family!
How funny. I literally bought a very similar one at Five Below today. When I saw it I automatically said, it’s just like magic window!! I had to buy it because I had one when I was a kid
Who the hell is Chad?!?! I’d love to see more. What about the Planet of the Apes thing? or the Face changing 6-million man figure? Love seeing toys and ephemera from then! Great story attached to your WHAMM O…another totem of your experience.
loved it! yes do more😊
I didn’t have one, but played with others and thought it was beautiful. 👍
They had one of these at the library in the small town near when I was growing up in Indiana. Very cool toy! I never knew it was made by Wham-O!
Thanks for sharing, always love watching classic toys and games
Thank you for this, I had one of these growing up and forgot all about it, cool video.

Epic Christmas! Thanks for watching, Buzz! 😀
A very simple toy that was truly magic. This was my Nintendo Switch in the 70s
Heh. Good description. I still love mine.
Haha I got name dropped. Love this video. Didn't have this but I remember playing with other people's. Please do more of these
Thanks for pointing me over here Jon! Now I REALLY gotta find my old Magic Window! Loved it!
Some of the simplest things can bring the most joy! 😁
Ours was Pink and glowed in the dark !
Very cool Jon! Thanks for sharing. Never had one but still drums up memories of the cool stuff we had in the '70's!
That is so cool
Love the 80s culture which brings back childhood memories
Never had that but it’s super cool
I don’t remember ever seeing a magic window like this when I was a kid, but I really enjoyed this video. I’d love to see more like it! Thanks Jon!! 😃
Great idea Jon! I think JCJ could be a winner for you :-)

Thanks Jon! Respect. 2XL gives me flashbacks😂

Umm, definitely do more! It’s such fun to learn what others had and loved. Thanks for sharing, Jon!
Man, I wish I had it. 😝

Such a great show you have, Jon! 🎉

Cool! I've never seen the pink/white one in person, but I think that one glowed in the dark. Is that right?
@@GenXGrownUp You know what, I think it did!
I like these short videos of your stuff, please do more!
Ooooo… I didn’t have one, but I had a friend who did, and I kinda coveted it. 🤪
I love that you kept playing with it at the end of the video. 😄
It is covet-able. 😀 It's not easy to put down, so continuing to play with it came naturally.
Do more of these, Jon! I love all of our old things and would love to compare what we kept

I soooo remember that toy. But I have no idea how that was even remotely entertaining back then 😂
I get it, because I find it pretty darned entertaining even TODAY! 😉
Always amazed they didn’t just mix together in one solid color basically.

I lost mine somehow. I had the pink and white glow in the dark one. Loved it.
Sorry to hear that. I never saw the pink one in person, but have seen old ads for it.
My grandma had one!! Wow, what a trip back. More stories on the stuff behind you PLEASE! Does your 2-XL Mego robot work? If not, I bet I can fix him!!
Awesome, John! 😀 My poor 2XL is non-functional, sadly.
That was cool. I'm not familiar with the Magic Window but it does seem like a great little toy for kids or adults. It would probably go over well today what with the fidget spinners and those popper things. Anyway, nice video and yes I do hope you'll do more like this.
I had one. The older it got the more it lost that smooth flow.
My sister had the pink one. Have you seen those before? It glowed in the dark.
Neat. I've seen the pink glow-in-the-dark, but only in photos; never in person.

Right! I seem to recall the glowing one had pink sand in it.
I just bought one today at the thrift store for $4! They're going for quite a lot on eBay
Four dollars?! Wow! Did it happen to have the stand with it?
@@GenXGrownUp no stand, no box. i bought it before I looked up anything about it. thank you for the background on this!

I had the pink glow-in-the-dark one. I've noticed there are a lot of similar things on Aliexpress nowadays; no idea if they're any good.
Awesome! I rem wanting one of those so bad but never ended up getting one. Can I have yours? lol
I had one of those! wish I had kept it, they are $100 on ebay now.
Such a cool little gadget!
