Victoria Hill is an interesting place; we stop by whenever we're heading through for a walk whenever we stop in Bendigo. The New Australasian mine No 2 has been a less frequent stop, usually after a visit to the Creswick Mills. Sovereign Hill sits on top of the original Red Hill Mine, and was one of the first places I took my wife when she emigrated from the USA to be together, and though we have gone back again, she still talks about that trip as a kind of defining experience.
Great video to promote awareness of some of these sites.

I grew up in the commission area just under Victoria Hill. It is fantastic the council has preserved the area. In the late 70s,I remember taking a shortcut home from Violet Street Primary and would stop and dig out quartz crystals on the side of a short drop that was close to energetic st. The streets in the commission area are named after mining companies. The Hercules and Energetic company for example. The start of Poppet St. had poppet-heads opposite the Manchester Arms on Eaglehawk Rd. and the blocks didn’t get built on until around 10 years ago.

Thanks for another very interesting video. I would love to see clunes in the 1800s that would of been a awesome sight.

I believe Creswick sits atop of the Loddon Lead. Which is a large underground river that flows north. The region Ballarat-Creswick has a fairly high rainfall but there doesn't appear to be sufficient surface streams to carry away the water.

I think it is way past time for a super pit in the middle of downtown Ballarat, just like Kal, only bigger, deeper and richer by a country mile. Press like if you agree.

How come there's 150 year old pictures showing massive Egyptian obelisks at a couple of Vic goldmines? Are you telling me goldmines spent millions of dollars on limestone obelisks?

Well, you can only spend so much money on food, booze, new equipment and whores!
Without fancy cars to buy, how else are you going to show off your extravagant wealth?😂

      Great question
It’s because ‘mines’ are actually destroyed buildings from the civilisation before us
      The gold is melted technology
The obelisk is a free energy device

@@deborahtheredbrickchick468 To be honest, I see comments such as yours again and again in comment threads but the people posting them never provide any evidence. Literally never. So, what evidence do you have?
