Is Heaven the Goal?

Protestant ministers, Roman Catholic priests, and Pope Francis have all claimed that heaven is the goal for Christians. But is that what early Christians believed according to scholars? What does the Bible teach? What is the plain truth about what Christians, heirs to the promises to Abraham, are to inherit? Did Egyptian, Greek, and Gnostic pagans teach that heaven was the reward of the saved? What was the goal of Mithraism? Could Emperor Constantine's sun-god religion have affected the Greco-Roman Catholics and later the Protestants? What about the 'Beatific vision' that Thomas Aquinas and others have promoted? Is God so egotistical that He made humans just to praise Him? Does God have a plan for everyone involving giving love? What about keeping the Commandments? Did early Christians teach God is reproducing Himself and that we are to be born as sons and daughters in His kingdom after the resurrection? Was the kingdom of God the goal for early Christians? Why will the kingdom of God be so wonderful? If our reward is in heaven, does the Bible teach it will come down to the earth? Are the meek to inherit the earth as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount? Will eternity be boring or exciting? Is your purpose to give love in a unique way in order to make eternity better for yourself and everyone else? Will multiple billions of resurrected and converted humans each be able to make your eternity better?
