I’ve been taking online classes and doing my research on the industry for two years now. I had just started acting before Covid and I haven’t been on an audition in years. I’m so excited to start again but I want to be smart about my moves within the industry and I definitely want to get to know the business side of it first. I am compiling all my materials and I was just thinking about what to put on cover letters. Thank you for dropping the knowledge 👩🏾🏫💗💐
It's like you know exactly what I need whenever I need it! I'm working on updating my website and getting my materials together to start reaching out to agents for the first time! Of course, Heidi comes through with the exact advice I need!
I have a question. When writing ✍️ a cover letter do you write ✍️ different to different agencies? and casting directors or one for all? Thank you 🙏 you are a godsend. Many blessings 😇💐🌹. I am a HWC member 🤩❤️
Excellent video! Thanks again, Heidi. What advice (or videos) would you recommend for an actor creating a youtube channel about (a day in the life of) or (my auditions)??? I am working on mine. Perhaps you would be so kind to take a look if you have time. Thanks again!
Thanks! Great question but a lil too big to reeeeally dive into for a comment. But I will write it down for a future video topic. My biggest advice is answer the question: What's the goal of my channel? Are you trying to grow an audience? Just have a BTS look into your actorslife for people in the industry after they view your reel? If it's the first one- the biggest mistake I see with channels like this is they don't think about the WIFM- factor of a youtube channel. What's in it for me (the viewer). Make sure you're focusing on topics (and esp titles) that are searchable- that people are actually looking up. If not it will be very hard to find and grow an audience. Best of luck!
@@sharonsquires3556 You're welcome! I usually put all apps/resources/videos mentioned in the description of my videos for easy reference. Have fun with Boomerang. I love it and use it every single day!
Hi Heidi, can I write an agent if I'm still at drama school? I have two years left from four years in total. And I want to move to a different country and look for agents there (I'm from Germany but i wanna move to the UK). Would you say I should wait at least another year or do you think I can apply although I probably won't be able to work for probably two years because of school?
Hi Tofy! Thanks for watching! You should reach out when you're ready for representation. I'm not familiar with the market in Germany/UK but in the states here you need to be a local hire in the cities your submitted. That means you can have an agent in NYC if you are in LA but you need to have a place to stay in NY and the means to hop on a plane overnight if needed. And if you reach out to an agent now that also means you are looking to start auditioning right now. Every drama school is different with their attendance policy and that may not be possible. Yeeeeears ago (in my acting days) I went to NYU for acting and they had a strict attendance policy that made auditioning impossible except for the summertime. For you, it sounds like working on your craft, building that resume at school and reaching out when you're ready to audition in the UK might be the best bet :) Your drama school may even have some connections for you when you're graduating.
To get an agent you'll need to have experience or connections. The first step is not getting an agent. The first step as an actor is training, then getting headshots, building your resume (through self-submissions) and then reaching out!
I mention in the video- lean on training- Mention what acting class you're taking. If you aren't taking class and aren't working then you may not be ready for that agent... just yet. If that's you- don't sweat it! Get in class and here are some other marketing materials to work on in the mean time: th-cam.com/video/j7OQpBBGYWc/w-d-xo.html Best of luck Wendy!

Can you make it as a great or famous actor or get a response without having any experience? Can you please tell me

What if you never work? What will you put in your cover letter
