Hi Reney. Great job reviewing this book. I think you are right on target in your theory about why Florida is going after Stephen King. It doesn’t sound like there could be anything objectionable in this book. As we know, though, those who would ban books rarely read the books they claim to be so offensive. Terrific discussion.
Brilliant. That article is great. The more I read banned books and reports of book banning the madder I get. I’m glad to be part of this small corner of BookTube drawing attention to this complete ridiculousness
@@RaynorReadsStuff isn't it crazy? I think I'm beyond angry now - just disgusted. But yes, I'm proud to be one of the booktubers who are drawing attention to the issue.
You know, I'm just glad that publishers have finally gotten involved because all these bans have been ridiculous. At the least, I'm hoping it'll set a precedent. I do think what you stated about King's books being banned is accurate. Because honestly... this book seems normal/mild? Nothing you can even stretch into the realm of bannable. Awesome review as always!
Ive always wanted to read this book. From the current trash that I've seen on TH-cam of current school library books how can justify banning any books! Who gets to say what is good or bad? This is The United States of America and banned books really gets my blood to boiling,! Jerpers! -James
I shocked this book we be banned, it’s super tame for King. It’s not even in the top 3rd of his works in terms of quality, at least in my opinion (and I have read all his works). Glad you are bringing light to this ridiculousness by Florida.
@@kevintowle9665 I found this book in a thrift shop almost a year ago - never heard of it - just picked it up because it was King. I looked up some info on it - threw it on my bookshelf and forgot about it. Then came the Florida ban! I looked to see if it was one of the banned not expecting to find it on the list. I was shocked! I had to keep looking to be sure it was the same book! Crazy times!
Banning books is so very sad! Apparently, someone in Florida really dislikes King. I can't imagine him having any political power, though 🤔. Because I'm a scaredy cat, I have never read any SK until recently. The Gunslinger (first book in a fantasy series) was not scary at all, but it does have lots of violence and an uncomfortable undercurrent of anger. It reads as if written by a very angry young person who has extreme contempt for society. I am glad that it was not frightening, but am disappointed with the quality of the writing. The edition that I read had been re-edited by a much older King, so I assume that he is happy with it. He did write the original as a teenager. Should it be banned? Never!! Will it be my last SK? Probably - LOL.
Well, you tried! That's all anyone can ask! King has moments of brilliance, but it can be a slog to get there! He can be a favorite and least favorite author all in the same book!
The sheer number of bans and the exponential increase in them has just been astounding. I totally think you're on to something.
@@DrCrankyPantsReads I always learn something with these banned book reviews - although not necessarily something I really want to know!

@BookChatWithPat8668 thank you! I think it would be an entertaining book for the right age group, actually ... 🤔

A possible 98 books? That’s nuts! Well, even just one is bad enough.

Nice thoughts on why his books are being banned. Interesting video

This is all getting out of hand now, isn't it?! Keep up the good work.
Yes, as we knew it would!
Oh. I do believe that I've read that? I'm pretty sure I've read that. But I can't remember exactly when? I'm not sure but I remember the story.
