YES! Contour SHOULD BE COOL TONED!!! It is meant to sculpt and create SHADOWS! Bronzer is meant to warm up the skin and MIMIC a SUNTAN! However with CERTAIN skin tones bronzer can work in that way but on MOST people it just looks muddy when they use bronzer to contour and it drives me nuts!

Yes please do powders! For a more dramatic contour look I’ll layer a powder contour over my cream contour. And then on days when I wear a very natural “no makeup” look I’ll just use powder contour. I prefer cream contour most of the time but both cream and powder contours have an important place in my makeup bag! This video was so helpful!❤

The nyx wonder stick is a great contour color I think for fair skin. I am the fairest/lightest shade in EVERYTHING and it looks beautiful on my skin, and it's so easy to use!! P.S. Jenn hope ur son feels better soon, my kids have been "sick" for weeks it seemed. Come to find out it's their allergies, it's killing them this year. If you haven't broken down and tried Nars blush shade "Orgasm", it's time to try the OG - it really is a natural flush. I keep returning to it year after year. Nothing compares on my cool fair skin, blue eyes and blonde hair
I'm not sure what color you prefer in blush but a few higher end ones I recommend are the Dior Backstage in 001 Pink (a beautiful pale pink that can be built up), Makeup by Mario in Mellow Mauve (a light neutral pink) and Nars liquid blush in Wanderlust (a soft lilac). Also, for me as a light cool-tone the key to a great blush is a great blush brush! 😅 it's true, when you're fair (I am in Winter) the brushes that you stamp on blush don't work as well as a soft sweeping one. My favorite is Sonia G Soft Cheek brush. But I'm sure there are others like it. If you don't mind spending a little too much 🙄 I found the Gucci blushes to be very sheer (Rosy Beige). If I think of others I'll come back. Oh and Nars Orgasm is a gorgeous blush, I just look better in a matte (or satin). 🤍
Tarte had a powder contour that was perfect! It was in a duo (highlight & contour) named. "don't be afraid to dazzle". When I sawb it was being discontinued, I bought backups, which I never typically do. They were very generously sized pans and I finally hit pan on it... Well on the contour. The highlight is beautiful but I use the contour almost every time I do my makeup. It was just the perfect cool toned contour that didn't look muddy.
I looove the milk makeup contour stick. The NYX is too waxy (preference thing) and the flower beauty one was soooo patchy. I was so disappointed in that one!
I like the Patrick Ta duo in She's Sculpted. It's advised for Medium skin but seeing it in store next to the other options I grabbed it. I have Fair to Light skin. The cream part is good but the powder is just okay. I liked Too Faced Cocoa Contour in the cardboard packaging but they discontinued that version.💜
For the milk and elf contours….. I feel like the darker shades get incrementally less cool toned? I feel like I’m always the second shade after the light but those are always warm 😒🥲
Two other products that also have cool toned contour shades are E.L.F.'s putty bronzer in the shade, 'Feelin' Shady' and Essences 'Baby Got Bronze' stick in the shade 'Moon Dust' Both have actually worked great for me! Would highly recommend them. Although I will add in that the E.L.F. one is highly pigmented so a little bit does go a long way! Be careful with it! Lol
To be fair, contour vs. bronzer does baffle me a bit. As for tones… I do not like the cooler tones on me. I don’t think they go with my skin and tend to make me look ashy. I would go for one of the warmer toned ones, and I’d probably just use it as both, since I don’t really get the difference.
Contour picks out the natural indentations in your face or makes them for you and that in turn gives a shadow effect so when you move your face the light picks it out and bronzer warms your face and up to you where you place it on your face shape. Personally I'm looking for high end cool toned, the nearest I got was notorious by chanel.... Bring it back pleeeeaaaassssse
Do you know if the medium shades of these better options would still be cool toned? I find that proper greyish contour shades only exist for fair-light skin tones so i cant use them as they dont show up enough and look weird on my medium-tan skin tone ☹️
I want to say deffinatly cool toned but i'm a medium skin toned and everything i can find is warm the only hope now is ct charlotte holdcroft the content provider i follow her winter medium tone is from ct when she uses other than that i give up xx

I feel like no contour works for me. Every cool toned shade I try ends up being too warm on my skin. They look brown ish/bronzer like and very noticable. I have a cool undertone though so idk why it won't work.
That's actually not true. I used to think that.. But my skin is warm and using a warm shade actually compliments me better and doesn't look muddy and dirty

Thank you. I’m naturally tanned but have cool slightly natural skin so a bronzer or darker highlight will work instead of giving me a harsh effect

Once I found Elf’s putty bronzer in Feelin Shady, I stopped looking. It’s perfect as a contour because it’s cool toned. Cheap too. LOL

I have very fair skin with a pink undertone. I prefer cool-toned bronzers...warm bronzers make me look like an Oompa-Loompa.

If you think about it real contours on your face aren't really gray, they're just a deeper version of your own skin tone they're not gray!
I mean, yes but shadows are grayish colored so I think it's trying to mimic a shadow where there isn't one. :)
