- In this painting, I continue my LOOSE painting series BUT in painting flowers. The looser you paint, the better your paintings will be. In my humble opinion of course. I share three full paintings.
I am using Golden Full body paints, High Flows, Acrylic Inks, charcoal and a new paint, DIY Clay Paint.

Love the abstract florals.
Painting realistic florals is so stressful…. This makes it so much more enjoyable and satisfying.
Thank you for sharing this ❤
It was my pleasure creating this video and I’m so happy that you loved the florals penny abstract flowers to me is so free and satisfying so I completely understand your comment about realistic floral being so stressful
I love it. Loose abstract flowers are beautiful!!!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! I appreciate it so much!

Thank you! I love painting them, too! 🥰
Love your style and process. I also appreciate your comment about your retired husband being home while you're painting.
I can relate! 😅
Thank you for sharing your talent. Blessings!
thank you so much for watching my video and taking the time to comment. I love my quiet time!!! at first I thought I was selfish, but know it it just normal!! haha
@CherylWilsonArt love my quiet time too : )
Absolutely enjoyed the looseness of these paintings. They are gorgeous! Perfection to me!
I appreciate your comment and for watching! Loose painting takes practice!!!!
Love it! Been looking for this way and idea a long time!
I’m so happy I could help inspire!!!
Wow!! Fabulous... your art is exquisite ❤
Thank you so much 😀 thank you for watching
❤great floral.
Thank you so much! 😊
Love love it! You are amazing! So enjoyed watching you create flowers. So needed right now! I’m going to try this tomorrow! My flowers are wayyyy too tight!
I’m so glad the video was helpful being in tight is something that I still have to work on myself. It is not easy to just let loose, but if we can do that and actually let the painting help direct us then the results will be something really beautiful. I truly believe this.
Thank you. Love it.
Thank you too for watching and making the time to make a comment, I appreciate it so much
I love watching artists splashing paint around ❤ wonderful paintings
My husband seems to get noisy when I film too 😂 no worries you’re all good 👍
Husband are great aren’t they!!!! Thank you for watching!!!!
@ haha 😂 I will still keep him around
You are so cute!!! I’ve been married 42 years so don’t wanna train a new husband I’m pretty happy with this one!!!!
@ haha 😂 I say all the time 1 and done. Congratulations 🍾 that is unheard of these days being married so long. We been married 28 yrs and together for 31
Congratulations to you too. My husband and I are so different from each other so I think humor is the one thing and of course God in our lives that keeps us sane.

Exactl;y what Joan Mitchell said! She painted gardens she remembered. Stunning work. Best r
Wow, thank you about Joan Mitchell!! When I try to paint from a visual, I get too stiff. I know at some point I will get there and paint looser with a prompt, but I know why Joan Mitchell did from her memory, it creates a freedom that I can relate to!!! THANK YOU for watching and commenting. Nice to see yo again.
Lover! These pieces! Love the color choices and your line work! Thanks
Beautiful 😍
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! I appreciate it so much

Love the flowers especially the last one.
I love the last one too!! I don't have a favorite but the last one has some great color and movement.
New subbie! I landed here at the perfect time and can't express how much I enjoyed painting along. I'm only halfway through the video but had to pause to thank you 🌸❤️🌿

Hi Cheryl~!! Oo these are beautiful!! I too love the last one best. The scribbles in each one are soo Yummy!!
And I loved watching you do some of the petals with your finger!! Thank You Dear One!! ~❤~
I just cannot help doing the scribble!!! haha
Fabulous, love it!
Yes to spring! 😊
I’m so glad you love it! Martha thank you so much for your continued support to me and my channel. It means the world to me. Thank you for leaving a comment.
So much fun to watch you create!
Thank you so much Kay!!!!
Beautiful. TY
You're so welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Love your flowers! Flowers are definitely one of my favorite subjects. But i find it hard to do something ‘new’ with them and so I don’t try to paint them myself so often. And then I watch you and see it is possible! Also fun to hear the noises of home and husband (you get to know each other all over again)🍀💖💐😀
Paining loose for me is the key for flowers once I get stiff they start to become I guess the word is too trite and painting loose is not as easy as you might think. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I’d love someday to see your flowers.
I paint watercolor portraits..what a welcome relief this was to my brain.. my portraits are tight.. I’m going to attempt your style.. FREEDOM
It is so freeing to just let go of the details. Glad you enjoyed it!
Cheryl, you have some beautiful moves with your paintbrush.
You are so kind, thank you for watching and for your comment! it means so much to me
I JUST found you! The 3rd one is definitely my style too!!! Can't wait to watch your other videos. I've been doing abstracts but not flowers. They are my new thing now. hahaha😍 thank you for haring!
Welcome, I'm so glad you found my channel! It's fun to paint flowers loosely, I hope you enjoy the rest of my videos.
So pretty! I love painting florals and trying to paint more loosely…thank you for sharing….beautiful work!
thank you for watching. Painting loosely is something I had to learn and keep practicing. But I love the results. THANK YOU for taking the time to leave a comment too, I appreciate it
I remember when my husband retired, it was horrible. It has only been 6 years but it feels like many more years than that. He also is not supportive of my abstract paintings. He loves the landscapes I used to paint. He told a man that was in the house fixing something, “yeah you have to be half bent to like this stuff”. Oh well.
Oh Mary, I am so sorry but many spouses do not support the others love of painting. After years and it was when I started selling did mine appreciate my paint. I never ask for his opinion anymore. I love him, but when it comes to my art, I do my own thing. Hang in there friend!!
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much
Just found you and subscribed! Every thing about your flowers and process I love. I want to try these large scale....I hate the constraints of realism😅
I am so glad you found my channel, welcome! And thank you for subscribing. I have a speech coming up this weekend and I talk about the first time I ever painted and I painted a realistic base with flowers and sat there and was so sad cause it was like I didn’t feel anything, and then the next pain I painted was an abstract And I felt the surge of emotion come over me so I completely understand constraints of realism if you’re meant to be loosen abstract like painter then go in that direction is so freeing
If only I could get half that loose, I’d be happy. Beautiful! What is the paper you are using in this demo please?
Strathmore Watercolor Paper Pad 12"X12" and I get from amazon. YOU CAN be loose, it takes almost a childlike let loose approach. I do get tight once in a while and have to just change to my non dominate hand or just talk to myself to loosen up. www.amazon.com/dp/B0027A5BSW?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamz001091f-20&creativeASIN=B0027A5BSW&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.392DWM8N9HSRU&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_d_asin
I start with layers in a background and wait for flower shapes to ‘appear’.
That’s a really neat way to approach it!
Cheryl these are gorg!!! I have been struggling but I think I need to remember to be more loose. 😊 I was thinking about oil painting. I find that drying acrylic looses its vibrancy. So this new paint you use do you find it’s as vibrant as oil paints?
I do. I still have to mix in like Golden Magenta and other acrylics. It dries sorta mat, I would say the clay. I have not used them enough alone to do a total judgement, but is does seem like they are truer to the color I put done and not dry duller!! Have you put a gloss medium in your paint> I do not paint with gloss but that might brighten the colors for you.
@@CherylWilsonArt I normally put gloss after I am done painting but I will try mixing it in. I think I have seen other artists mix it in their paint. I bought a sample kit just now of the new paint. I love trying new things. 😊
I think you will like it!! I am trying a series of COLOR, so these were good for me as the colors are so floral!! There is a Golden Glazing medium you might mix in with the other acrylic paint to see if that gives you the look you want. I love mat, so do not like extra gloss, but some of my liquitex paints are duller
Oops, it's gone. Lol
simile face!
Aloha Lady, I'm south of you, if you ever get down here to visit Ann Marie gardens, which you should 😂
I'd love to take you to lunch on the island.
I love gardens, I’m going to have to come visit the island and check out Ann Marie gardens!
My husband just retired so it’s definitely not easy with him being home a lot. It’s going to take me a long time.
It takes a lot of adjustment for sure!!! I'm glad you're finding your art time.
Love your process. It would be more fun to not see the completed painting on the side. I like a surprise! ❤
I can definitely see how that could be more enjoyable. Thank you for the suggestion!
My husband has interrupted while I was in my painting zone and couldn’t get my mojo back. Frustrating
It’s just very different having someone home after all these years of being alone and he loves to watch car shows and roam around the house. I have to just laugh because I have to almost put up a sign and schedule a time now to do my TH-cam videos, but it’s OK. It’s just another adjustment as you are learning yourself.
