I worked on these looms at JP King just before they were replaced with German Dornier looms. Draper looms with their pickle sticks and shuttles. Something like 1200 Draper looms as in this video were replaced by 60 Dornier looms. The Dornier were so fast. Many memories seeing this old Draper in the video.
Also a Loom fixer at the former Keystone Weaving Mills. A Supy once asked me how to improve production on the Dornier looms ( I was on the X3) I told him to hire loom fixers and get rid of the Dornier technicians.
This is truly a dying art in the western world. man i would love to have a few of these old gals working in in a weaving shed. I don't know why I am so drawn to these old machines. I'm searching for some old looms to resurrect, and start a vertical artisan weaving shed.
Something to show the Grandkids that once we used to make everything rather than bringing it from Asia , they would be shocked as they would by now believe that they invented everything and make everything .
