That's what I call treating each other with respect. Some people don't want to be seen on TH-cam, but they respect your hobby. And you respect them by making them unrecognizable. Nobody is angry with each other because there is simply respect for each other. I like it a lot. An exemplary behavior as it should be around the world.

Please thank your fellow Hutterites for allowing us a glimpse into your life. We really appreciate that! It's so inspiring and encouraging. The world feels so disconnected and lost and at times even toxic and these videos show that yes, imperfect human beings *can* and do thrive in a like-minded community. We need to get back to that.

    Dear Giselle,
As a Bavarian I understood every word of the German wedding song - it sounded similar to our Bavarian church songs.
It is so fascinating that you kept your traditions and your Austrian dialect until today.
All the best to you, Philipp
PS: My brother has a good friend and his family name is also "Waldner" 🙂

Hutterish and Bavarian German are so similar to Yiddish. I have no problem understanding them. It’s quite fun to see how different and yet similar these dialects all are!

Thank you for sharing that. I loved learning how the Hutterites do weddings. There's definitely a difference and I really like that. I like that the Hutterite way seems more peaceful and easy going so that all can enjoy and it doesn't have all the stresses and expenses as the other way. It also keeps things equal from one couple to the next where as the other way always seems to be a competition with dresses, food and venues etc. I think I would prefer your way more.

    • @joycel242
      @joycel242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I agree. Low key allows the MEANING of the wedding to be the focus. Too many of the secular celebrations are expensive entertainment for the new couple, leaving them and their parents in debt. There is very little emphasis on the Biblical aspect. Giselle's colony does it well and with proper focus.

@D C: The houses usually follow the same plan and design as others in the colony. They are not usually small because that would limit their usefulness if they have a large family, or if relatives need to stay with them in the future, etc. Hutterite life is not centred around the individual or couple, but around what is best for the community and planning to be ready for the future.
Depending on the time of year, and which type of business the colony uses to support themselves, the wedding could happen at an otherwise busy time of year such as time to plant or harvest field crops, when they are just too busy to stop and build; or it could be during winter when the ground is frozen, when it might not be a good time to build a house. They will discuss and plan such things with the church leaders.
If the engagement is short, if there are not already any empty houses waiting, then they will live with his parents until there’s a good time and season for their own house to be built. It will happen in good time.

Giselle, thanks for explaining about weddings. This was very informative and I learned allot about weddings in your culture. The singing was amazing , so beautiful, calm and relaxing. Thanks for this extra vlog it was amazing. Speaking of marriage, I found this great quote from Ecclesiastes 4:9
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."
Meaning: Having someone to lean on through good and bad times is a sacred gift.

When we bond with our spouse it’s a similar set of events to usher in the signing of a Ka’Tuba Contract With HaShem, the Universal G-d of creation! Many hymns, prayers, blessings are song, with celebrations on both side to culminate to the actual wedding day! When you truly find your soulmate, which we call Bershirt! Life is grand!

I have been to Indian weddings, Jewish, Italian and Greek, all very what you would call over the top. I have also been to other weddings, and one only had 12 guests, I was one of them. It was a beautiful wedding. It was simple and plain. A wedding is personal and each culture and person has their own style. None of them are wrong.

I am Catholic went to a wedding in Colorado, in Lyons. What amazing place, it wasn’t religious or anything else but love my cousin and his new wife were married on Thursday. Even though I said prayers to thank God they found their other halves to make them whole. Love needs no boundaries. Whether you’re Catholic, Amish, Hutterite, , Jewish, Baptist, or whatever you choose to follow. God shall always follow you.Thank you for sharing your weddings with us.

What a wonderful way to include all those important to the Bride and Groom. A joyful gathering not tarnished with excess. And the music is so beautiful. From the heart.

I love your blogs about your life as a Hutterite. I grew up around them but never understood their life style

Thank you so much Giselle for sharing so much with us. I love the way your weddings are done so unlike ours that cost thousands of dollars. You are so much ahead of us that way.

I think such a wedding woukd cost a similar amount of money as a small wedding in the world. Just consider the amount of food they need. Luckily the Hutterites produce many things still on their own.

Both my husband and I are absolutely delighted to see a Hutterite wedding ceremony. The choir is top notch and we would love a CD of your choir singing. Sending all the love and blessings your way to you and yours!

There are websites you can search to find Hutterite/Hutterian youth choirs. It will not allow me to paste the websites in, but there are several. I hope you can find them!
