we don't have many huge moments in starcraft these days but rogue running in the corruptors and ultralisks with the dark swarm cover and obliterating the protos deathball was awesome
My favorite part is that he was super aggressive with the Corrupter Hydra Lurker forcing a bunch of High Templar and Archons but no Immortals because they would be torn apart and the suddenly Classic had fully upgraded Ultralisks in his main when he never realized that Rogue had an Ultralisk Cavern. I’m very impressed by the fact that throughout all of that chaos Rogue was quietly macroing out his +3/+3 Chitinous Plating and Ultra speed so that by the time the Ultras were ever deployed it was two fully upgraded Ultras in the main base and more on the way.

I really like Rogue's Zerg style, has a real campaign feel to it with the constant nydus worms. What it really is is him attention taxing his opponent to death from every angle possible. If you fail to pay the tax, there's suddenly 20 lurkers chewing up your main.
Yup! Love to see it. Like Lowko said, very similar to lore-accurate zerg: a constant flood of critters coming out of everywhere at the same time, tearing in from all angles, devourign and consuming until the defenders collapse under their onslaught.
I agree - the playstyle in game 1 is just too boring. Too passive. It might be efficient, but it's boring as hell to watch. The nonstop aggression from Rogue, however, is amazing to see.
I like to imagine Dark telling Rogue and Shin to play in everything when he takes a break so Lowko will continue to have a supply of Zerg Games to cast. I hope that this Ultra strat becomes meta. This unit deserves its time to shine.
I am not playing this game , but i was always thinking why ppl not playing phoenix instead of voidray . My thoughts was exactly what classic did to lift queen and oracles can start shooting drones . It also eliminates mistakes like beam into queen with oracles because its extra drone you could kill . Also when you open with phoenix you have better scout options or you can follow the aggressive play style to do phoenix into 2 oracles into mass phoenix and mass shading guy and pretty much destroy whole economy and win game on the spot (blink upgrade 6-9 gateways and all in with third nexus as option)
swarm host needs to be buffed. People are just afraid too because they have PTSD from the past SH iteration. But now toss and terran have so many more tools to deal with it that it makes no sense for SH to be as weak as it is anymore. Needs either a supply cost reduction/CD reduced.
There've been no pro level Terran mech turtle games post patch lol. Not only do they harass constantly, pushing into the opponents map & sieging up is not "turtling" lol.
Nice point. But there's no need for swarm host to be 4 supply again. It's better in an interesting way. Actually, can we combine hydralisk upgrade. It's a little bit too much for a single unit. And give swarm host an upgrade too? I don't think swarm host is weak. But infestation pit becomes more useless nowadays. And microbial shroud doesn't work well for the units that's always combined with infestors. Like ravager maybe? Every unit, especially hive unit always has a great companion to work with. But microbial shroud doesn't work well on them. I know micrpbial shroud is a really strong spell that can turn the tide of war. I just say it doesn't work well with its companions. It looks so separated for infestor
As someone who hasn't played starcraft competitive in a decade and never particularly well, I would have won that game at any time from 10 minutes onwards. Repeatedly getting dropped by the same overlords?! Not reacting to Nydus at all? No attempt to shut down the zerg economy? Even just all armying the north side of the map and deleting the zerg economy after every bad recall.
9:24 I thought Protoss didn't struggle when they got to late game. More like they just struggled to survive to late game. In that sense they were better off before than the Zerg is now post patch. At least Protoss still had a chance at winning late game pre patch.
The official balance stats post patch show Protoss is very strong & winning most tournament maps right now, particularly in PvZ.... so you've got things backwards.

As rare as it is to see late-game wins for ZvT, the ultra/corruptor surround really is a thing of beauty.

I do feel like Rogue is figuring out late game Protoss really well. It takes work, but it’s getting results. Really liked Rogue’s G1!
