Sugi0lover got 9100 on his! These have been up to 8600 but not on a Z790 Apex, so I have a hunch they could do better than 8600 on one! Cant wait to watch your progress on them!
How are you getting on with your 13900KS and these on the Z690 dark? I have a z690 dark on my bench but also have a z790 dark i have been messing with. Im running 8200 C36 20k kahru stable on the z790, i would like to push it higher but the issue with these dark boards is the VDD2 needs to be near the Vdimm voltage which is concerning how much voltage you have to push through the memory controller, i would like to get an apex to play with as i understand they don't need to run 1:1 Vdimm/ VDD2.
So I actually ended up getting an Z790 Apex and put my 12900k in that. I haven't swapped into my 13900ks yet, its still sitting on the shelf, but the plan is for it to be done this week!
@@B3n85_ Nice where did you source your apex from they haven't been in stock stateside for months i wanted to grab one to test out. How do you like it compared to the dark?
@@B3n85_ Yep i am going to return my Z790 Dark, you have to run too much VDD2 on these boards (MC voltage on the Apex) as it usually has to be 1:1 to VDD to be stable and is set that way by default. The Bios team and support working on the Z6/790 Dark is pretty lackluster and i don't see it getting to much better with Kingpin having departed. The ASUS boards also support TVB which is nice, with the 2+ boost bins you can get 6.2 single all day, Plus more active bios development. Hardware wise these are beautifully built however i have had Z790 darks one had bubbles around the Cpu socket in the top layer of the PCB the second had caps that were not mounted flush to the pcb. My Z690 was flawless but the Z790s have not been so. The extra layers on the Z790 mean nothing if i have to crank my VDD2 so high it will degrade my cpu over time meanwhile apex guys are using 1.425-1.45 to run 8800. Always been a big EVGA fan and wanted to have the last Kingpin board but the experience has been lackluster, maybe when they go on sale at a later date if they make some leaps and bounds in the Bios department i will revisit it.
@@B3n85_ Was going to order an Apex from OCUK also but was worried about getting hit with an import tax and return postage fees if i get a bent board, how did yours arrive? I have seen a ton of bent Apex pcbs all over the forums.
Probably, I honestly don’t remember but that’s usually how it works so I assume I did. I put a 120 fan directly on it and never had temp issues even at 8200 cl36 daily.
i have the icemancooler ram block and direct die block, cant say one bad thing about it. i just used thermal paste in between the metal pieces where you put in the screws and the waterblock @@B3n85_
my greenies arrive in a couple days.. if you know, you know :)
can't wait. cool vid!

@@Jolinator I got it from Overclockers UK. Im a Kingpin fanboy, but will admit the Apex is better especially for memory OC's.

Did you use the same 1mm thick pads on the PMIC as you did on the RAM ICs ?

damn these are not bad, i got the icemancooler ones instead
