    Hi everyone! I hoped you enjoyed the video. Please like the video if you found it useful and subscribe for future content.
    PLEASE let me know in the comments who of you have done the bios mod and what your experience have been? Also let me know what GPUs you favor for mining ETH.
    Thanks and be safe!

      did u test the pallit bios on the evga 1660s ?

      @@QuaK3RRR Hi, great question. Yes I have tried the Palit bios on my EVGA cards. It works, although I found that the MSI bios is more stable. I will make a video soon on how to flash it within HiveOS, as the process is a bit more simple than in Windows.

    I have swapped over to the Palit Bios after testing both the MSI and Palit base - too many issues with the MSI version which could be specific to the cards I have ( PNY )- Hive OS - good stability with memory @ 2400/2500 - 2600 and I get occasional resets - I have seven of the PNY version of this card with hynix and one Zotac - they all appear exactly the same now as :
    GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 5944 MB · NVIDIA Hynix GDDR6 · 90.16.59.00.28 · PL 0 W, 0 W, 0 W 36.09 MH 56° 0% 85 W 90/1065/2600/85
    No issues pulling 36.01-36.84 daily at relatively high ambient temps. I do get resets on Nbminer / Bminer occasionally at higher memory speeds but I'm willing to tolerate a miner reset every few hours and loose 15 seconds of mining for this extra speed.
    ***
    Update - 10/25 - HiveOS Current, 470 Driver - stuck with palit bios - I can run memory speeds of 2600-2750 depending on ambient temp. 2700-2750 causes resets once in awhile. 2600 - mines all week long with no issues. F-75 Core-1065 Mem-2700 PL-110 ( My ambient is in the low 60's). Temps and wattage seem more reliable on HiveOS now but they still drop out occasionally ...

      Thanks for the detailed update. Yes, although this bios mod looks promising, it does lack stabity, which kind of disqualified any future testing for me. Stability is key over the long run, so i actually reverted back to the original bios. That's what mining is all about!! Build stuff, test stuff, break stuff, rebuild stuff.. lol
      Thanks for your input!

    Great video. I’ve tried both the Palit and MSI bios with 32.5 at best but it’s very unstable. I forgot to back up my bios first and since installing the one from techpowerup I can only get 20 mh/s!
    I don’t suppose you managed to save the bios that was already on your cards first? We both have EVGA GTX 1660s SC Ultra - yes?

      Hi, thanks for sharing. It is very important to always backup the existing bios before doing a bios mod. I might still have the old ones stored on my SSD.

    The info on gpu-z doesn’t show sometimes when you have an outdated driver and/or the windows native driver, instead of the actual unbloated driver from Nvidia.

    I get 32.2 with stock bios and +1250 on memory oc, -60% power consumption at 52c with 30c room temperature my model is Asus with Samsung memory.
    I haven't tried to increase the ram more since it's pretty stable ATM.

    But if it has some problems or stability issues, can i put the older BIOS ? Or if i do something wrong, i Will get a non working gpu?

    • @ThreeFoxCo
      @ThreeFoxCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flashing any bios is always risky. If not done correctly you could end up with a non-functioning GPU.
      I have actually reverted back to my original bios.

    • @ThreeFoxCo
      @ThreeFoxCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danyalnoorani6012 if you open GPU-Z on a windows PC, if you can see all the particulars of the GPU then it is fine. You can always re-flash the GPU bios to the standard one and see if it fixes the problem. If so, then the issue might be with HiveOS on your machine. You can also flash the bios within HiveOS, but I have not yet a video on that process. Hope this helps.

    a single card worth to mine eth, or joining alt coin with this 1660s

    • @ThreeFoxCo
      @ThreeFoxCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At this moment it is a tough question, given the ETH merge on the horizon in the near future.
      This card is profitable on other coins also, but less profitable than ETH.
      I am currently mining ETH and RVN with this rig on a schedule. Watch out for an upcoming video about my mining scheduling, and my reasoning behind it.. Be well!
