I recently started maining lucio, he's fun. Unless they have a widow I'm generally with my team unless we're setting up for ults where I can boop them into it. On some maps I DO go backline lucio and go for kills but I never solo beat unless I need to live (and it guarantees a capped point)
I would say the kiriko is even more boosted to be honest, at least lucio has the balls to push his limits. Maybe go in with lucio and get a pick and back out, honestly that didn't even look like a diamond support player, she barely threw kunais.
throwing a kunai or two between your heals is so helpful! even if your aim isnt great, just throwing them at a choke or towards the tank will help with poke damage and getting kitsune faster
You can fit 2 kunai between the heals and not effect the "between" healing times by a large amount. You can see it if you hold down both buttons, but obviously that's not good for aim.
Ye I find that sneaking one kunai between the ofuda is ideal if you still want to at least aim your kunai towards the enemy. On console this can prove very difficult tho.
If i had a nickle for everytime people enter Winton bubble and isolating themselves... Also, i know they are focusing on trying to solo heal, but they dont try to do any damage between healing ofuda
something I kept seeing is that on kiri she wasnt doing as much damage as they should have, kiri's headshot damage is really high for a support and if mixed in with the healing could have provided more pressure to take off of their tank for them to live longer

100% true, though to be fair to this player im assuming that decision was probably due to the lucio being rouge and not supporting much throughout the entire match, so they most likely felt they had to overcompensate with more healing output than damage IMO
I didn't realize Lucio could ult in gravitic flux until yesterday when I was playing Sigma and I picked up the enemy Lucio and he just casually used his beat. That logic does clash with Lucio jumping to lower ground and it taking longer or jumping to higher ground and the ult coming out faster though.

Even on Kiriko if your teammates aren't being smart about using cover and high ground, I find you have to heal bot to keep them alive in S9. And yeah on Ana I always wait for suzu to follow up with nade or sleep dart interchangeably

I like being aggro, finishing kills for my team and helping my team make pushes, but I also try to bail them out of bad situations with speed, heals, or beat depending on the situation. Reddit Lucio is the most fun part of the kit, but balancing that by also helping the team is the best way to win games without tilting everyone lmao.
I'm new to OW2, but played the OG. Correct me if I'm wrong but it feels like role wise Tanks are there to make space and control flow, while supports seem to be the enablers of the team (play style/plays).
19:50 This entire exchange is just killing me. I get that they want to stay in LOS of their tank, but the enemy team is clearly diving the rest of Kiriko's team. Ramattra can survive quite fine on his own there. In fact, I just really don't like Kiriko's positioning here in general. Yes it'll be much more difficult to heal the Ramattra from the highground, but you don't necessarily need to unless the enemy team all focus him down. If instead the enemy team dives highground like they did here, the Ramattra is fine. Even if they clear highground and THEN go for the Ramattra, there is a very easy rotation to drop on the other side to heal him. There just really is no real reason to play on this lowground. But whatever, they decided to play lowground. What really just sent me is the fact that they just stared at their dying teammates just refusing to TP and heal them. I mean, sure, you don't know if it's safe to TP there. But that's just another reason why playing lowground was bad in the first place. You wouldn't have to choose between whether to TP into a potentially deadly situation or to sit on lowground doing literally nothing. And then, when the Junkrat finally drops down, the Kiriko doesn't recognize that the Junkrat is about to die, and doesn't Suzu them...
I am plat/diamond kiriko player and I do throw kunai I just can’t hit shit. I will end up with MAYBE 4K damage in a full game. I try but I’ve had teammates bitch at me for not damaging enough lol. Like I’m trying I just suck
have you tried the workshop code VAXTA? it's a super helpful aim training code. bots of various heroes walk around and use movement abilities and you can pick any hero and just practice hitting shots. it's been super helpful for me. don't get me wrong, my aim is still bad but I have a better idea of how various movement abilities work so I end up hitting more shots. it's great for getting used to stuff like tracking a LW when they use dash, Bap when they use boots, Sojourn with slide, etc. and at the end of the day, Kiriko has the kit to do everything well, and it comes down to play style. absolutely you want to be doing both damage and healing but if you prefer to err on the side of healing, that's okay, just like it's okay to be the kind of Kiriko who focuses more on DPS. what matters is that you're always working on getting better at what you want to do! basically, don't listen to teammates who try to micromanage you. you need to focus on your gameplay and they need to focus on theirs.
@Lo0serx3 hitscan vs projectile. Bap and scoped ana are hitscan, Moira is a cone trigger for lock on(I think) Kiri kunai is projectile so if you usually play hitscan, it can be difficult to adjust
How do you get 30% healing accuracy with an auto target healing ability? That paired with almost no dmg. Mercy main at their core. All supports just need to heal when they have to and dmg when they don't.

this is really a "it depends" thing. if a Lucio can get legitimate value from an aggressive dps play style and not just feed their brains out AND that's how they want to play, that's fine with me. if a Lucio is in the backline getting picks, that means there's less pressure on my tank and there's less pressure on me as the other support. but Lucio is also really good when the player has a more team based play style. that's definitely the kind of Lucio I prefer to play with, I won't lie, but if someone is making something work, then they're making it work. the key here is the Lucio needs to actually get value from being in the backline. they need to be getting picks, they need to be distracting and diving, they need to know what they're doing. that is not always the case when a Lucio player wants to do this kind of play style lol however you are right they need to be playing with the team, and when I say that, I don't mean grouped up with the team. I mean that the Lucio is going in at the same time as the rest of the team but they're going in from a different angle and usually on their own. the team should always be playing at the same tempo, but the team can definitely play split up at times

It was seriously killing me watch this kiriko trying to heal through barriers. If you have nothing to heal on your screen then do damage! At least throw some damage at the barriers that are blocking your heals! Don't just throw your heals and hope "Maybe they'll walk out of the bubble and get the heals". Don't rely on that! Even if you aren't going to be able to break bubble in time and you are planning on just walking inside the bubble, the bubble is not just a nuisance to your own heals, but a nuisance to your teams damage as well! Help pop bubble, at least until the bubble isn't in the way of your heals!
I dunno if it's just me, but I just don't think Kiriko is the right hero here. yes everyone here talked about the ofuda unable to heal through the bubble barrier, and that was a real issue, but also they don't travel very fast, limiting their range on healing allies in time, like Pharah, Sombra, or Reaper, for example. That and Kiriko can't break the bubble hardly at all with her slow 40 damage knives. I might be biased but I'd pick Lifeweaver here, he can heal at very long ranges reliably, pull back allies who are too deep, heal over the bubble, even more easily break it (the thorns are good at stationary targets), and as I have recently learned even just lift the bubble out of the way with a platform, rendering it ineffective for Winston to take advantage of it.
Sometimes I watch these spectating and I think how the hell am I in gold/plat limbo hell. Like think I’m on the same level as this guy and on Xbox. I should easily be diamond idk man

Lucio was trash, but let's not act like the kiri played well. Bad positioning; way too open most of the time; panic teleports and wasting suzu to try and save 1 teammate that will most likely die regardless.
Tbh id rather a lucio that goes in and feeds like that than a kiriko who applies no pressure and healbots the whole game. At least with a lucio you can synergise with his aggro, a healbot kiri is only good for farming kitsune but none of those kitsunes were good.
Pls don’t just stay afk behind your team and healbot. Just play Lifeweaver at this point if this is your playstyle. Throw at least some kunais between your heals to put out some pressure or otherwise you literally do nothing.
Hot take: the Lucio did more this game than the Kiriko. Only times Kiriko did anything was with rush or a couple cleanses, overall they just kinda spectated and hoped that their team did something
Hot take: remove the Kiriko and no one gets healed including the Lucio. I get what you mean, to be proactively doing other things, but the Lucio being almost zero help and their teammates constantly taking damage didn’t give the Kiriko much of a choice.
And I dont know if you only watched the first half, but the last half Lucio was constantly dead every fight and wasted ults. They did nothing except provide ult charge for the other team.

I don't believe it's a diamond support. I'm plat 5 and well I play far better. This person doesn't bother to dps while healing on Kiriko, tries to heal teammates through shields and out of range/behind obstacles, tries to heal enemies, walks into a wall, teleporting into an enemy ultimate; positioning and movement on Mercy is poor to say the least, persists healing stream on a antied teammate instead of boosting him or healing someone else. Blaming others is also a sign of low-elo player as well as weak mentality and dwelling just on other people's mistakes absolutely ignoring your own gameplay. I'm not trying to flame here, just stating facts and what I saw but I think Lucio is more challenged and skilled player. I would've thought this match is from silver something, definitely not diamond. I mean people in gold knows all these things and playing pretty ok to be honest. P.S. I might be exaggerating due to my own rank and envy others but I do not blame my teammates and while I'm playing before all I focus on is myself just like Emongg says.
I think this is a moment to remember that people in higher ranks can have bad games too where they're just not in the right headspace to play or something. so many things can throw you off and make you have a bad game. the fact is, if you truly deserve a higher rank, if you actually do play better on a consistent basis than people in a higher rank than you, then you would get there. you have to earn the rank you feel you deserve and the rank you feel someone else doesn't deserve. did this person make mistakes? yeah. I don't think they main Kiriko or don't play her consistently enough to be consistently competent. it's possible they felt pressured to play the hero because Kiriko is strong or she's the hero the player felt the team needed - and sometimes we all do that, we will pick a hero that the team needs even if we're not great at them and then it messes with us for the whole game. but back to my original point - focus on getting to diamond first and then say someone else doesn't seem to belong there. like I said, people have bad games sometimes and they play significantly worse than they normally do. you have games like that, I have games like that, everyone does. also? we all fucking blame our teammates sometimes. you're absolutely lying when you say you don't lol you're not a saint. you have games when you get frustrated and complain to yourself about what your tank is doing or what your DPS or supports are doing. we all do. i DO believe you don't express these thoughts when you might have them, but that's not the same thing. we all have moments of weakness and frustration. the key to improving is knowing how to process and let go of the frustration and blaming others and turn your attention to yourself once you're done feeling what you need to feel.

The problem is I do not think I deserve diamond. I belong to plat in this patch at least and I like it here, people are playing very well too as I was saying so no objections with that. But yeah it would be so cool to get higher with time since I play competitive only for 3 seasons with breaks. I know I can't get there right now and understand that. The thing about focusing on myself is that I always think I could play better there rather than thinking about how my team is playing poorly. And of course I absolutely may think my teammates are struggling whenever I am trying to figure out the reason we are losing at the end of the match but is it really blaming? OP was far too used to Mercy's "Hold click and spin around until you hit something" beam, to the point that every time Winston put down a bubble it basically took Kiriko out of the game. You'd be doing yourself a favor by going into QP for a few games with every hero just to learn the basic gist of each character's kit

For me lucio is a throw pick. I have never once said, I wish we had a lucio. I don't really want to tell people how to play so I just take the loss. But really bugs me sometimes
Lucio is a really different support compared to someone like ana, there isn't really an easier support that when you learn that one, can prepare you for everything lucio does. I personally think he has a lot of value, he's just so different to play from other supports, that many players struggle with him
Theres no “throw pick” in overwatch you’re just not playin with people with the skills to play those characters likely, because for most of this season lucio has been one of the top picked in the meta among most ranks
As a Lucio player I love having lucios. Speed boosting me as bastion is great or just diving in with them. When you play long range characters you're probably not very fond of Lucio.

What? The Lucio was literally feeding all game, and wasted almost every beat. Lucio gets value in one of two ways: winning 1v1's and speed boosting/beating the team into engagements. The Lucio literally did neither. The kiri was forced to healbot because the Lucio didn't do anything right. Sure there were some opportunities for Kiri to DPS but you have to huffing copium to believe the Lucio did anything. Not to mention the Kiri switch was obviously forced by the crappy Lucio play, making the mercy switch off her comfort pick.
Did you watch the video? They swapped from Mercy to Kiriko after using Valk. Yeah they probably shouldn't have started on Mercy/Lucio especially when their tank was Rein but they only played Mercy for like 5% of this game. Also they had a Pharah. Mercy isn't meta but she can work with a good dps to pocket. Not with Lucio and Rein though.

I’ve been learning Lucio, and trying to find that balance between going Agro Frogger style, and leaping back to support team.
50-60% speed boost, 40-45% heal boost. Find a happy balance.
Once you get really good with wall riding, the urge to go in deep can be overwhelming. Because when it works, boy is it fun.
Just noticed, this Kiri has the option to stop throw fudas disabled, which could be helpful to enable

I wonder how much healing the kiri got, i feel his pain because lucio players who think they are frogger are the worst, you can be lucio is ok but PLEASE play as a team
this is really a "it depends" thing. if a Lucio can get legitimate value from an aggressive dps play style and not just feed their brains out AND that's how they want to play, that's fine with me. if a Lucio is in the backline getting picks, that means there's less pressure on my tank and there's less pressure on me as the other support.
but Lucio is also really good when the player has a more team based play style. that's definitely the kind of Lucio I prefer to play with, I won't lie, but if someone is making something work, then they're making it work.
the key here is the Lucio needs to actually get value from being in the backline. they need to be getting picks, they need to be distracting and diving, they need to know what they're doing. that is not always the case when a Lucio player wants to do this kind of play style lol
however you are right they need to be playing with the team, and when I say that, I don't mean grouped up with the team. I mean that the Lucio is going in at the same time as the rest of the team but they're going in from a different angle and usually on their own. the team should always be playing at the same tempo, but the team can definitely play split up at times

It was seriously killing me watch this kiriko trying to heal through barriers. If you have nothing to heal on your screen then do damage! At least throw some damage at the barriers that are blocking your heals! Don't just throw your heals and hope "Maybe they'll walk out of the bubble and get the heals". Don't rely on that! Even if you aren't going to be able to break bubble in time and you are planning on just walking inside the bubble, the bubble is not just a nuisance to your own heals, but a nuisance to your teams damage as well! Help pop bubble, at least until the bubble isn't in the way of your heals!

I dunno if it's just me, but I just don't think Kiriko is the right hero here. yes everyone here talked about the ofuda unable to heal through the bubble barrier, and that was a real issue, but also they don't travel very fast, limiting their range on healing allies in time, like Pharah, Sombra, or Reaper, for example. That and Kiriko can't break the bubble hardly at all with her slow 40 damage knives. I might be biased but I'd pick Lifeweaver here, he can heal at very long ranges reliably, pull back allies who are too deep, heal over the bubble, even more easily break it (the thorns are good at stationary targets), and as I have recently learned even just lift the bubble out of the way with a platform, rendering it ineffective for Winston to take advantage of it.
Sometimes I watch these spectating and I think how the hell am I in gold/plat limbo hell. Like think I’m on the same level as this guy and on Xbox. I should easily be diamond idk man

Lucio was trash, but let's not act like the kiri played well. Bad positioning; way too open most of the time; panic teleports and wasting suzu to try and save 1 teammate that will most likely die regardless.
Tbh id rather a lucio that goes in and feeds like that than a kiriko who applies no pressure and healbots the whole game. At least with a lucio you can synergise with his aggro, a healbot kiri is only good for farming kitsune but none of those kitsunes were good.

Pls don’t just stay afk behind your team and healbot. Just play Lifeweaver at this point if this is your playstyle. Throw at least some kunais between your heals to put out some pressure or otherwise you literally do nothing.
Hot take: the Lucio did more this game than the Kiriko. Only times Kiriko did anything was with rush or a couple cleanses, overall they just kinda spectated and hoped that their team did something

Hot take: remove the Kiriko and no one gets healed including the Lucio. I get what you mean, to be proactively doing other things, but the Lucio being almost zero help and their teammates constantly taking damage didn’t give the Kiriko much of a choice.
And I dont know if you only watched the first half, but the last half Lucio was constantly dead every fight and wasted ults. They did nothing except provide ult charge for the other team.

I don't believe it's a diamond support. I'm plat 5 and well I play far better. This person doesn't bother to dps while healing on Kiriko, tries to heal teammates through shields and out of range/behind obstacles, tries to heal enemies, walks into a wall, teleporting into an enemy ultimate; positioning and movement on Mercy is poor to say the least, persists healing stream on a antied teammate instead of boosting him or healing someone else. Blaming others is also a sign of low-elo player as well as weak mentality and dwelling just on other people's mistakes absolutely ignoring your own gameplay.
I'm not trying to flame here, just stating facts and what I saw but I think Lucio is more challenged and skilled player. I would've thought this match is from silver something, definitely not diamond. I mean people in gold knows all these things and playing pretty ok to be honest.
P.S. I might be exaggerating due to my own rank and envy others but I do not blame my teammates and while I'm playing before all I focus on is myself just like Emongg says.
I think this is a moment to remember that people in higher ranks can have bad games too where they're just not in the right headspace to play or something. so many things can throw you off and make you have a bad game.
the fact is, if you truly deserve a higher rank, if you actually do play better on a consistent basis than people in a higher rank than you, then you would get there. you have to earn the rank you feel you deserve and the rank you feel someone else doesn't deserve.
did this person make mistakes? yeah. I don't think they main Kiriko or don't play her consistently enough to be consistently competent. it's possible they felt pressured to play the hero because Kiriko is strong or she's the hero the player felt the team needed - and sometimes we all do that, we will pick a hero that the team needs even if we're not great at them and then it messes with us for the whole game.
but back to my original point - focus on getting to diamond first and then say someone else doesn't seem to belong there. like I said, people have bad games sometimes and they play significantly worse than they normally do. you have games like that, I have games like that, everyone does.
also? we all fucking blame our teammates sometimes. you're absolutely lying when you say you don't lol you're not a saint. you have games when you get frustrated and complain to yourself about what your tank is doing or what your DPS or supports are doing. we all do. i DO believe you don't express these thoughts when you might have them, but that's not the same thing. we all have moments of weakness and frustration. the key to improving is knowing how to process and let go of the frustration and blaming others and turn your attention to yourself once you're done feeling what you need to feel.

As I understand it, I was overcome with a feeling of outrage, how can this person be a rank above me? But you've brought sense to me. The problem is I do not think I deserve diamond. I belong to plat in this patch at least and I like it here, people are playing very well too as I was saying so no objections with that. But yeah it would be so cool to get higher with time since I play competitive only for 3 seasons with breaks. I know I can't get there right now and understand that.
The thing about focusing on myself is that I always think I could play better there rather than thinking about how my team is playing poorly. You can not play perfectly, everyone has his own mistakes, like you stated. And of course I absolutely may think my teammates are struggling whenever I am trying to figure out the reason we are losing at the end of the match but is it really blaming? I personally don't think so.
OP was far too used to Mercy's "Hold click and spin around until you hit something" beam, to the point that every time Winston put down a bubble it basically took Kiriko out of the game. You'd be doing yourself a favor by going into QP for a few games with every hero just to learn the basic gist of each character's kit

This lucio is trying to play a style and is not doing very well but neither of you really is using your kit so it wasnt just them, I get when alot of damage is incoming not getting a chance but between every 5 ofuda throw 2 when in those situations any random poke damage you get helps
For me lucio is a throw pick. I have never once said, I wish we had a lucio. I don't really want to tell people how to play so I just take the loss. But really bugs me sometimes
Lucio is a really different support compared to someone like ana, there isn't really an easier support that when you learn that one, can prepare you for everything lucio does. I personally think he has a lot of value, he's just so different to play from other supports, that many players struggle with him
Theres no “throw pick” in overwatch you’re just not playin with people with the skills to play those characters likely, because for most of this season lucio has been one of the top picked in the meta among most ranks
As a Lucio player I love having lucios. Speed boosting me as bastion is great or just diving in with them. When you play long range characters you're probably not very fond of Lucio.
@bleachkid44 thats exactly what a throw pick is. They are picking a character they don't have the skills to use. If I pick genji. I'm throwing cause I suck with that dude. I know lucio isn't bad, and I just get bad lucios. But my win rating with a lucio on my team is abysmally. That's all I'm saying
@@doakesanddrax But the character itself is not a throwpick. Also you are saying that you get bad lucios at lot but sometimes you have to adapt your playstyle to them and not the other way around. As a lucio player I lot of times I have to switch my playstyle and adapt to my team to win a lot of my games. very little do I get to play how I want to play lucio. Communicating with you lucio to speed boost you and dive the enemy team is a big part of having a lucio on your team
hes losing so much value from not attacking inbetween heals you have time to throw a kunai and you wont lose any time inbetween heals you just get more value and he looks so lost on kiri he probably got carried to his rank by mercy

Where were the kunais from Kiriko? Where were her headshots? Her flank potential? Thats not a support, thats a full healer
What? The Lucio was literally feeding all game, and wasted almost every beat. Lucio gets value in one of two ways: winning 1v1's and speed boosting/beating the team into engagements. The Lucio literally did neither. The kiri was forced to healbot because the Lucio didn't do anything right. Sure there were some opportunities for Kiri to DPS but you have to huffing copium to believe the Lucio did anything.
Not to mention the Kiri switch was obviously forced by the crappy Lucio play, making the mercy switch off her comfort pick.

Did you watch the video? They swapped from Mercy to Kiriko after using Valk. Yeah they probably shouldn't have started on Mercy/Lucio especially when their tank was Rein but they only played Mercy for like 5% of this game. Also they had a Pharah. Mercy isn't meta but she can work with a good dps to pocket. Not with Lucio and Rein though.
