please, Newsroom Afrika, rather interview City of Joburg honchos & the Premier, ask them what are they doing about this crisis. They must not sit in offices and ponder, get out there & look for the leaks, drive around & use loudspeakers to educate & warn residents to reduce! People are still using hoses during the off limit times eish!

ANC doesn't have a clue on how to fix this problem which has been years in the making.
Gauteng residents are going to have to wait until next elections before they can vote in competent people and even then , it will take years before the situation is turned around.

Why is it always the rate payers getting punished? This sounds the same as what happened with the electricity. As someone who pays for water, i dont use more than i have to so to keep costs low. The "leaks" aka illegal connections are the problem. The same thing was happening in Alexander, where we saw people running 4 heaters in one place while being connected illegally. While i couldn't afford to have on one heater this winter because the costs are so high. Now we hear the money we are actually paying for water isn't going where it should be. The same thing was done with the money we are paying for electricity also not being paid over to eskom by these municipalities. Causing eskom to take on loans to keep running and because of them needing to repay these loans, they now have to increase the price of electricity by 34%, making it even more uncomfortable. This is crazy. Maybe we should all just stop paying and connect illegally. Atleast we wont get punished.

How did you communicate this ? On SABC ? No-one watches SABC. Municipalities will have to use SMS or email to communicate this to customers. I am saying this because many people in my area are still watering gardens. You can just drive around and see the green lawns to know who.

Vandalism is nr 1 cause, followed by corruption, incompetence, and careless arrogant water consumers. Recipe for total collapse, followed by unrest & chaos. RIP SA, end is near.

And Panyaza, Julius, Herman and whoever else would rather play politics than serve their constituents. Hallo to the economically freed South Africa, 30 years in the making.

If there is enough water draw from Sterkfontein why are there residents in GMM (Secunda, Trichardt, Bethal, Charl Cilliers) who some of them are on 18 days no water? Low lying areas have water. High lying areas have just been left to suffer?
