    How great would it be to be able to ride a bicycle safely cross country.

    I'm not currently a biker but I'm becoming increasingly more interested in it, especially after discovering the Great American Rail-Trail. I'll be following Wander Women on their upcoming 2022 adventure on this trail. They're two older women in their mid 60s, they just completed hiking the Triple Crown (Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and the Appalachian Trail) in 2021, now they're switching it up to cross country bike touring on their Surly Disc Tracks.

    Ride a bike to work, school or for fun.
    Bicycles make life better for you and the planet.
    Fossil fuels free transportation. Take Climate Action by riding a bicycle.
    Bicycles need to be a bigger part of all communities transportation system.
    Trails and protected bike lanes encourage more people and children to ride bicycles.

    It will be lots of road walking to connect existing trails.

      That may be true while we work towards building out the entire trail, but there are over 2000 miles of trail already built.

    Although the video says the first thing that pops up when you click the ArcGIS (interactive map) is an explanation of the map navigation; what pops up currently is a prompt to enter the user name and password. But, I don't see how to create an account. I can noodle around and get to a map, but it doesn't have the trail on it. What am I missing?

    The one question I had wasn't answered. What about the white empty boxes. Is there a trail there? What about the gaps?

      Great question. Each year we provide an update on the route assessment. Here's the like to the 2022 report: www.railstotrails.org/greatamericanrailtrail/#update

    Is there a fee for this?

    • @RailstoTrailsConservancy
      @RailstoTrailsConservancy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're asking about TrailLink, you can use the website for free but there an "unlimited" version that you can pay for offline maps and more. As for the Great American Rail-Trail, generally no fee to use trails but each trail is managed individually, so you should check the local trails to learn more about their rules and possible fees. Here's a list: www.railstotrails.org/greatamericanrailtrail/route/
