If you know anything about art you can get smooth strokes from the wrist as well being a designer myself I know you can get smooth lines from the wrist
You can draw from your wrist when doing details like headlights or the rim designs. But your sketches will never have the right look by ONLY drawing from your wrist.

If you have to do a history report, ask you teacher if you can get extra credit by doing a drawing of some moment from the history you are studying. Design an awesome cover for your report. Whatever class you are taking try to bring some art and creativity to it so you can use it for your portfolio. Car design colleges want to see a broad range of work, not just just stuff. And practice drawing cars whenever you can.
hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out car pencil drawing made easy online try Skyarza Car Sketching Star (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got amazing results with it.
I don't think what he used to draw (his hand or shoulder) changed much, but he shaded more places in the shoulder drawing. Although, drawing from your shoulder does help you make lighter marks and more fluid movements, which you would want to use for making guidelines to erase later and/or for shading.
I’m 22 have I got potential. I’ve been drawing for 6+12 months and have gotten pretty advance in concept art (I’m dabbling in the styling aspect of automotive design.) Have I still got time to be an automotive design?

Just follow the same thing in the area you're gonna draw the wheels. Remember, the length of square = diametre of circle ^^
As a beginner you should work on developing your line quality. If you're not drawing from your shoulder it doesn't matter what views you are drawing your cars in. Look at organic things like human form, animals, sea life. If you live near a zoo or aquarium, visit it and bring a sketch pad and sketch the animals and fish. Look at the forms and the gestures. Put those into your car designs. Good luck and thanks for watching.

If you're 29 and you've been doing other kinds of design and you now want to transition into car design, then you have a shot. I worked with a designer at Chrysler who was hired in in his early 30s. This is about where you would be if you went back to a top design school and got a degree. He had spent his 20s designing jewelry. So he had talent that he could apply to becoming a car designer and it worked for him. He offered Chrysler something they didn't have on staff, someone who could really do the details. If you're serious and you want an honest assessment of where you're at, send a few samples of your best work to michael@howtodrawcars.net. I'll let you know what you're next move should be. Then how one should get hired as a car designer.... Coz i don't want to be stopped just because of some numbers called age and some papers called degrees.... Plzzz answer
It depends on what your definition of "get into car designing" is? If you have a buddy who is a builder and needs someone to design a shape for a one off build he's doing and he asks you to do it, you're now "into car designing". Is this what you mean? If your definition means getting hired at a major car company like Mercedes Benz, Ford, FCA, VW, etc, the only way for it to be possible is if you graduated from a degreed design program at 19 and were at the top of your class. That's it. You get hired as a car designer in the second example above by attending a major 4 year design program at a top school. It is during this time you will be involved in projects sponsored by the major car companies. Moreover, the car companies have summer internship programs where you work for 8 weeks as a designer in a real studio. It is during these types of programs while you are in school that the car companies become aware of your talent. I did a post-graduate internship which was the first ever offered at Chrysler, to land my spot on the staff. Five years later, I had designed three production cars. They obviously saw my potential. They keep you on their list and upon graduation, make you an offer if you have the talent. This is how it's done at the top level. You can call it what you want or not agree with it, but for every person who complains that there is something wrong with this method, there are a thousand want-to-be designers who have no problem with it waiting to take your place.
When you move the pencil over the page, you do so by moving your shoulder. Your hand and arm are like you are in a cast from a broken arm. They stay locked. The movement of your pencil comes from moving your shoulder. A simpler way might be to just try and recreate the lines you see in the video. You cannot get long, smooth lines from drawing from your hand and wrist.

If you live near a zoo or aquarium, visit it and bring a sketch pad and sketch the animals and fish. if not, look at pictures of animals and fish in books. Look at the forms and the gestures. When you set up a shot to record someone doing a drawing you have a certain area of the page that is framed in the shot. If the drawing goes outside the frame, the video quality suffers and the video has to be redone. By doing a "pre-sketch" that I can slip under the top sheet that will keep the drawing perfectly in the frame I know I will get a quality video to post each and every time in one take. This is the drawing you see underneath. It's there to make sure the drawing is framed in the camera so I only have to do one take.

I am using an earlier sketch to make sure the drawing fits in the camera frame which is a different proportion than the pad I'm working on. The information being shared wouldn't be of any value to those who were trying to learn something if it was outside the camera's view.

I learned that the number one rule is to never draw from your wrist and always your shoulder you showed this well
