I'm proud to say that I helped change some show floor rules of E3! In 1997, I was marketing a title named "Uprising" for Cyclone Studios (a division of The 3DO Company). We didn't have enough budget to be on the show floor, so I turned to guerrilla marketing techniques. I printed up thousands of glossy color posters, and continually affixed them to every wall, escalator, elevator, pillar, door, and restroom stall I could find. The posters were affixed with tape (so that surfaces would not be damaged and the posters could be easily removed), and I was careful to not cover up anyone else's paid signage. I only targeted unused, "neutral" public spaces. The end result was that despite not having an actual E3 booth, "Uprising" received a massive amount of E3 buzz, industry press, and a fairly strong product launch that fall. E3 quickly implemented rules, so that any company who tried to copy this guerrilla marketing technique would be levied with massive fines. While it was a little desperate on my behalf, it broke no rules at the time; and I did what I could to help make our game a success. Je regrette rien.

Why were people getting so up in arms over not knowing about Wayne's world in the comments? The audience that saw it weren't really pleased by it (and probably didn't care)

The Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order interview at E3 2018 should’ve been there…made even worse by the fact that mobile games were the focus of EA’s conference
E3 2010 was a special time to be watching live, it was like the gaming-business world had collectively gone crazy and most of the people watching were laughing their asses off. Konami's especially was almost an avant-garde attempt at subversive humour, my favourite part is just before the anime girls trailer came on screen, they wheeled out someone to describe the game and sell it before the trailer plays and to his credit he did a really good job and it all sounded fine, then the trailer starts and the anime girls appear and you just go "oh no...." and feel instantly bad for the guy that they forced out there to promote it
The worst i've ever seen was the presentation of the Xbox One, when they talked about the features and the DMR. The crowd was absolutely silent and the opposite of excited. The applause and and whistles came from speakers. No body moved.
sorta surprised that one dude's "ever wonder what and avatar's shoe looks like" bit from one of the microsoft conferences didn't end up on here somewhere
for me its Aisha Tyler in every E3 she's ever been apart of. it feels like she played a video game once and has been pretending to be a gamer ever since as a way of boasting her already non-existing career.
To be fair, the PS3 had wireless networking built in and, depending upon where you lived, the 360 WiFi adapter was $60~100, so the price balanced out. I say this as someone that bought the 360 first.
Ravi Drums is a skilled drummer. But that Wii Music presentation really did a bad job of selling both the game and drummer's skills. Actually not a bad music game if you just want to mess around.
