Only one thing can be better than hearing my favorite song...that is hearing it live, companied by Pieces of a Dream, and Dexter Wansel, with GWJ himself introducing every band member against the opening groove. This is awesome.
Pieces of A Dream were so talented and so young in this video. All still in their teens here. Grover gave them a chance out of Philly and that classic Philly smooth sound. Will Smith "Summertime" a classic Philly sound.
Grover Washington’s death created an enormous void in music and in the live performance of that music. God Bless you Grover and thank you for the many live performances you presented to me and my friends.
Amen to that! I'm a huge Grover fan. Been listening to him since I was a little kid back in the mid 70's. My mother listened to him a lot ... I was first introduced to his music when I heard his "Live at the Bijou Theater" album in 1976.
I've watch three times through and i just cant see how my professor or anyone can compare themselves to someone with that much skill and talent. Grover is truly remarkable and his tone is just too great i only wish i could have seen him live when i had the chance.
Dr. J made his name in NY with the ABA Nets (sorry Sixers fans) but that in no way diminishes the connection between 2 unbelievable dudes; Grover and The Doctor. They both revolutized their respective fields!! We miss you Grover!!!
Ooooh I'm sorry I can't believe I made that mistake...My dad would have a baby for getting that wrong...so I hopped on my other computer real quick once I thought about...It's on Time out of Mind cd.
@MrNampihs I use to think that about Kenny G...but Kenny can play...You may not like his songs or his style, but Kenny can get deep, when he wants too, he's just found a style that brings him massive success and I can't blame him for not going away from it...
can someone tell me what the song back in 1991 from grover feat. phyllis hyman is called? im lookin for that track. the chorous says "dont you know that we share a blessed love ooh ohh, dont u know that we have it all" thats all i know but it was my song. if some one can help me i would greatly appreciate it.
Kenny G said he practiced everyone note he played by starting and stopping the records almost note for note...If you notice the only time he sounds good is when he tries to sound just like Grover...
He played so flawlessly. I was blessed to have seen him perform live. Grover was the man.
Let It Flow and Summer Madness are both perfect music for any occasion or no occasion at all.
Great Cedric Napoleon on Bass!
Grover and Herb Alpert are my two top favs in smooth jazz and instrumentals

I witnessed this GREATNESS in September 1983 when they performed at the Orange County Civic Center in Orlando, Florida. AWESOME! OUTSTANDING!

F**king outstanding.
grover was a bad man-- rip
Pieces of a Dream and Grover Washington together??? Would have paid $500 to be at that concert...…….

At 1:53 Curtis Harmon was gettin' it in!
Kenny G WILL NEVER Reach Grover's Skill level.
All your best JAZZ comes from Black Artist.
for the good doctor!! =D
🏆

does anyone know which mouthpiece he uses?
@GDelva2003 NEVER EVER!
Buffalo
kennyG has the skills, but he don't have the feel. kG plays with his lungs & brain. Grover played with his heart/balls
