My first manga was Naruto. When I was 10 years old I saw one of my friends at school reading Naruto Vol. 15 and he let me borrow it and I have been hooked ever since (I'm 24 now). Now I have all of the Naruto manga, Deathnote, Bleach, and many more series in my collection.
After 4 months I have around 25 total light novels and manga volumes. Includes: Sword art Online (1-7, 19-21, Preg 1.) Demon Slayer (7-12) Boruto (1) Full Metal Alchemist (1-6) Tokyo Ghoul (1) It is definatley a hobby you should get into especially if you already like anime.
When I started reading manga I started with Naruto, Death Note and Bleach. Could not get into them. It took me a few months to get what I liked to read. The first manga that kept my interest was Fruits Basket followed by Tokyo Ghoul. I have a variety of different mangas from Shoin to Yaoi/BL. My favorite manga so far has to be Attack on Titan, I am very behind in the series then everyone else but I'm still waiting for the bigger volumes to come out instead of the singles. I make a list of new ones I'm interested in and look them up online. I can't afford to get manga that much. I maybe get some every four or so months, whenever I can save up. Even longer. It's a rush picking out new or manga you need to finish, just learn to pace yourself and have fun.

@@mikeyskick6092 Usually for mangas that have an anime adaption, I’ll watch it, but if people say the manga is better(ex tokyo ghoul) I’ll try and read it. I don’t buy all my manga because I check out from multiple libraries, so my collection ends up being very small.
My first manga was Zelda, but wasn’t really my thing. It may take a while/a few attempts to find what you really like. My first series I really enjoyed was Spice and wolf, my 3rd manga I read, and then JoJo’s bizarre adventure. All parts are great of this one, from Phantom Blood, set in the 1880’s to Diamond is unbreakable, set in 1999. My collection is very mix and match at the moment with different volumes and all in different amounts. My goal at the moment is to finish Spice and wolf and gather the remains of Made in abyss. This hobby has brought me a lot of joy, horror, tears and love and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an amazing community.

recommendation: if you like shojo manga but you think you're to old to understand teens, try Josei titles such us: Princess Jellyfish, Paradise Kiss, Delincuent Housewife or Happy Marriage
I been buying a bit too much manga lately. Luckily most of them where dorohedoro volumes which I am really into and will finish quickly. But I have the first volume of BLAME! The 2 in 1 of all you need is kill and I will receive the entire black lagoon series soon. Time to hold of on buying more since I also need to get back into Vinland saga. So if I buy more in the foreseeable future I'll make sure it's from a series I'm already reading.

Also cherish and rearward the current manga you have don’t just read one series then move on to the next. Rereading manga especially more complex ones like Berserk will make you fully understand what’s going on.

First manga was One Piece, started the anime, then switched to the manga, my fav all time fiction series to this day, i own Bleach along with Naruto as I got box sets for those too
My manga is dominated by Akame ga Kill (also prequel + sequel) and the Shield Hero manga. Also looking at Chainsaw Man and the 3 in 1 books for the last story arc of Bleach.
To be honest I wouldn’t tell anyone starting a Manga collection to start reading the big three for their first manga because they all have over 30 volumes and that’s a lot of money

I'll watch the anime first. If I really love the story, I'll do a research on how many volumes there are in that series and how much it'll cost roughly if I can't find a deal anywhere and have to buy new. Beastars by Paru Itagaki is the first manga series I've been collecting. Really enjoyable series. I currently own the first 8 volumes in English. I'm currently making a list of other mangas that I may want to collect in the future. I'm kind of in a crossroads of choosing between some Junji Ito works (Gyo, Uzumaki, Tomie and No Longer Human) MAYBE Tokyo Ghoul or Parasyte. I'm new to collecting manga. Check out Our Dining Table! I just finished it and I loved it so much. It's one volume and I read it all in a day. I couldn't put it down. It's a great one if you like romance. Very heartwarming
I have a trick but it requires a LOT of discipline. If you have a credit card that has perks/points you can redeem your points for gift cards at Barnes and Noble. HOWEVER, fo this to be worth it, you have to pay off your balance every month. I usually end up getting a 40-50 dollar gift card every two months or so.
Where's the cheapest place to get Inio Asano mangas? It looks like you have all of his stuff and he's definitely the mangaka I want to collect for first.
I DID GT I’d depends where you live. Try eBay or world of books for second hand stuff or Book depository/ wordery for new. If you live in the UK forbidden planet have 3 for 2 deals on all manga too but obviously the stores are closed atm. Hope this helps 👍🏻 Great choice btw

Price match in retailers save as much money as you can the cash stacks up over time

The box sets are a nice cheaper option for the big three if you can find them. I will always recommend Bleach…it’s just awesome

There are two Tokyo ghoul box sets which make it quite easy to collect at the moment. All of those are great choices though 🤘🏻
