Hello Jenna [ Koality Reactions ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.
I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "
For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community

Thank you Gabriel!! (I love that the Nightwish community is so tight-knit that everyone knows you're the bringer of Nightwish info.) Ahhh symphonic mental... this makes a lot of sense now. It did feel much more symphonic than what I was expecting. So cool that they worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra!
Thank you for the warm welcome and all the band history. So lovely you're doing it in Ann's memory. I'll definitely be listening to more Nightwish, so thanks for the recommendations (and the links). Appreciate you! 🤍

@@KoalityReactions Now it's 11 PM here, and I found some time to review your reaction. First observation: the one who recommended Nightwish to you as an introduction to the Metal genre has all my respect, because this band has proven over time to be a real gateway for non-metalheads into a new musical universe. This is my situation as well, until a few years ago I listened to other genres of music, but only after listening to Nightwish did I feel that I had truly arrived at home, that my horizons had opened.

Yes! I'm a big fan of reactions channels and i'm always looking for such youtubers like you. We (Nightwish fans) know exactly that the band is super, dope, cool, etc. but we expect from reactors to tell us why they think like that and that's what you did in yor reaction. So, welcome in the amazing world of Nightwish and symphonic metal. It;s combination of two very close to each other music genras (clasic music and metal). Nightwish (IMHO) is the best band in this genra and Floor Jansen (lead singer) is the best vocalist on this planet. Gabriel Bardac will give you list of the suggestions. I agree with most of them so I won't be writing here my own. Best regarts from Poland, your new subscriber.

She (Floor Jansen) is definitely professionally trained. She did the Rock Academy in the Netherlands as well as Music Theatre and Opera at the Conservatory. As for her capabilites: With this song you are just scratching the surface of what she can do. Check out the other songs at this concert. 15 in total and they are all bangers. Or wait until The leader of the Nightwish army arrives in your comments. When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites:
    Energize me: th-cam.com/video/fjm4BrNAf6s/w-d-xo.html
    Monolith of Doubt: th-cam.com/video/3TmKHkQx45U/w-d-xo.html
    Dreamflight: th-cam.com/video/73-_F9prx4I/w-d-xo.html
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). Here is a link to a part of a TV show (with english subtitles) of the reunion of the class of the Rock Academy with mostly backstage footage of the Tampere concert of Nightwish in 2015: th-cam.com/video/B3NIfu0qvtg/w-d-xo.html
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples:
    Misery’s no Crime: th-cam.com/video/SNPesLFTnUg/w-d-xo.html
    Disdain: th-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/w-d-xo.html
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see:: th-cam.com/video/bAiPeSsqD-4/w-d-xo.html
A suggestion to a christmas song sung by Floor. Here is a link to a performance in Finland with a special guest with the best seat you could imagine: th-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/w-d-xo.html
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa:, th-cam.com/video/QqdvFPBGN0c/w-d-xo.html
and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini: th-cam.com/video/UeTyAZtV5wI/w-d-xo.html
As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered TH-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish:. th-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/w-d-xo.html
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon.Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughter Freja (turned 6 years last march), and another on its way, a horse and pony, a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.

@@KoalityReactionsplease keep "The Greatest Show on Earth" and "The Poet and The Pendulum" on stand-by, at least for a little while (even if they are frequently requested): I think you will appreciate them better, once you have some other Nightwish songs under your belt (there's plenty of them: all bangers, every one is a journey of its own, no one is similar to another).
I liked your reaction: yes metal has a lot of sub-genres, so everyone could find his/her cup of tea...
Tuomas (founder, keyboardist and main composer of Nightwish) doesn't like harsh vocals, while Floor (current singer) did like them when in her previous bands (After Forever and ReVamp).
If you want to dig deeper into the vocals topic I suggest you another rabbit hole: try "Pisces" by the band Jinjer. Like the zodiac sign the title refers to, there is a certain... duality in this song's vocals.
      Definitively worth a reaction!

Nightwish is from Finland, the current female lead, Floor Jansen, is Dutch, from the Netherlands. Rock opera is close to, or partly, what Nightwish is about, but the genre is called symphonic metal. The original female lead vocalist, Tarja, was more operatic than Floor, the 3rd female lead of Nightwish, you just heard her. She can sing from operatic to growling.
The pipes are just for looks. There are 3 keyboards behind it. Synthesizers and piano. They also have a backing track recorded by a symphony orchestra, because there's a limit how much Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist, can do live on stage. He writes vast majority of Nightwish songs.
(He can play pipe/church organ. He was given the chance to play one huge organ in Helsinki Music Hall.

I thought it must be some kind of keyboard with the pipes just being for looks (because it didn't sound like an organ), but it looked VERY cool. I love that they worked with an orchestra, it definitely adds to the sound! Symphonic metal is very cool... never knew this was a thing. Excited!

Nightwish is incredibly good and versatile. Floor is otherworldly in her talent and skill. She can do it all vocally, her stage presence is phenomenal and she evokes emotions like no one else. I recommend checking out everything she did on Beste Zangers 2019, as well as the songs she posted on her TH-cam channel.

I don't consider myself a Nightwish fan like the majority of the folks you'll find here. I'm really a fan of Floor's and her solo projects, which, after seeing her solo performances from her appearance on the Dutch tv show Beste' Zangers solidified my fandom of Floor and she introduced me to Nightwish. So, to promote Floor I'm going to take the liberty of posting a selected playlist of live performances that I consider the most enjoyable for me from her catalog of solo projects.
    2019 - Beste' Zangers
Solo cover of "Shallow" (Lady Gaga) - th-cam.com/video/M68pe4a_9zk/w-d-xo.html
Duet cover of "Phantom of the Opera" w/ Henk Poort - th-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/w-d-xo.html
2021 - solo Amsterdam Concert **You will find these are from her channel and the entire concert is there, professionally taped provided by her fans through crowdsourcing**

    "Nemo" - th-cam.com/video/Uebh4TuP_Xg/w-d-xo.html
2022 - Singles from her 2023 released solo album. There are music videos of these singles but I prefer the more organic live versions. All six venues provided excellent acoustics
    "Fire" - recorded at HLF8 - th-cam.com/video/rqwHMgo_DdQ/w-d-xo.html
    "Storm" w/orchestra - th-cam.com/video/8dAP8Mjgh_E/w-d-xo.html

    "Daydream" - Live at NPO Radio 2 - th-cam.com/video/nNNs2lodBYI/w-d-xo.html
"The Calm "- this is the only one I can find live th-cam.com/video/D2adj1GipMA/w-d-xo.html

I would also recommend an often overlooked song that is sung by Floor but outside her solo work. This was for a TV documentary, it is called in Dutch 'De Beelden blijven' th-cam.com/video/e6-6NVsbg6U/w-d-xo.html. But don't worry if you don't understand Dutch, it's message is so important that it was subtitled in 40 languages in a community effort. For those who still prefer English, there is also 'The fight goes on' th-cam.com/video/aaqFvdoLCIc/w-d-xo.html, but without video of Floor singing.

    • @MrCharon1965

You really can't go wrong with any of the Beste Zangers. The theme is a number of artists from the Netherlands get together and each gets a day where the other sing songs in his or her style. Metal is not big in the Netherlands and Floor was practically unknown even by most of the other singers. She opened the show and literally stunned everyone. She went on to stun everyone each week. IMO its best to start with the Opener for Henk Poort ( Vilija Lied ) and IMO best to use the English subtitled episodes that really give you a feel for her and the others. I am a huge fan of Nightwish but this show really showcases her talent and the fact she could dominate any type of music she chose to focus on. Really a generational talent, and although I am a fanboi I believe an objective statement.

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive).
this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream"
this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

Since that first moment my productivity went down to zero. I can not stop listening to all of her songs en productions. Whether it is with Nighwish ( second to none), her covers that she recorded at home during Covid ( second to none either), or her solo project ) . Everything she touches turns into gold. NW aren't really like ANY other band, metal or anythng else you care to put a label on..even in this genre (so called "Symphonic Metal"). Finding NW is sometimes a life changing experience, it was for me, and Ghost Love Score is often the doorway down into the rabbit hole. Hope you do some more reactions to NW, I don't think you'll regret it! Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish and the genre Symphonic Metal. It is indeed a deep, deep rabbit hole!! Nightwish Wacken 2013 was one of those moments when a band completely clicked, every single song from the entire set is a banger, and its even more impressive when you know Floor had only joined the band about 10 months earlier while they were touring the US (she took the call to come sing for them and had just 48 hours to get to the US and learn the set list before she did her first show with the band!)
And yes, describing "metal" music can be confusing as it covers so many sub-genres and styles, symphonic metal being one of them. Don't worry about it, let your ears and brain work out what you like and what you don't, not every piece is going to be to your tastes, and that's perfectly okay. Just enjoy the journey.

@@KoalityReactionsOh undoubtedly, its the only way to listen to music imho, you either like something or you don't and no amount of being told that something is good /bad matters, its down to your own ears/brain/heart telling you what you like. Unfortunately, in the world of reactions, you'll get a lot of opinions being thrown at you but as the old saying goes "opinions are like arse-holes......everyone has got one!!" NW is a perfect example, you'll often hear some quite strong statements about NW's original singer Tarja and how she's better than Floor and "the true Queen of NW" etc, and then others will defend Floor (and poor Annette in the middle gets kind of forgotten!!) but these people forget that we are blessed to have had 3 great singers in the band and each played their part in the evolution of the group, each helped to make NW what they are today. People focus to much on "better" as if its a competition all the time instead of thinking "different".

**there are 2 pivotal events since Floor Jansen came aboard NW in late 2012 #1 Wacken 2013 - #2 Beste Zangers 2019 at this popular Dutch tv show filmed on Ibiza some top Dutch singers past & present get together and the person on the center couch for the day has one of their songs or a song that has meaning to them sung back to them reinterpreted by the other singers, novel idea .
Floor opened the show with the 1st song below and just blew everyone's mind, only two of the other singers knew who Floor was but none of them had heard her sing with such versatility, after the 8 day run of the show Floor's & NW's popularity soared, stadiums filled up and ticket sales shot up.btw since Floor joined NW & after this show NW's fan base has tripled . on Mama by Samantha S.Floor completely changes the tempo and song structure ,the song is about Samantha wanting to be more like her Mom, Que Se Siente by Rolf is originally a merenge ,mambo type song so of course Floor does it her way,Winner by Tim A. he wrote for his brother who has Spina Bifida,
About Love ,Ruben wrote about his parents divorce.

"Heavy metal", from which all further metal subgenres originated, was originally a rather melodic, epic genre and strong clean vocals were typical for heavy metal from the very beginning. Nightwish in general and symphonic metal in particular directly descended from the heavy metal genre. If you imagined metal as something more aggressive, with growls, blastbeats and angry lyrics, then these are other "branches" of the metal evolution. Although there may also be elements of more extreme music in symphonic metal.
In the last 25-30 years, aggressive metal subgenres have become more common, so some (especially younger) people may even doubt whether Nightwish is metal. The truth is that Nightwish has inherited the traditions of the original heavy metal to a greater extent than those more extreme bands with which metal is associated these days.
For example, Iron Maiden is one of the legendary bands that defined the sound of heavy metal. If you listen to them, I think you'll hear some of similarities with Nightwish and symphonic metal. Here, for example, is a good example of Iron Maiden music, "Hallowed Be Thy Name" from a concert in 1982: th-cam.com/video/7vP2hFFV57E/w-d-xo.html

Yesss, I did imagine it being much heavier with a lot of growling vocals. So this makes sense. Very cool - thank you for the history! I’m glad I’m learning that there’s different sub genres of metal. Can’t wait to listen to more!
I’ve definitely heard of the band Iron Maiden but I probably can’t recall a specific song. I’ll def listen to them! Thanks!

@@KoalityReactions Try '80s metal' for the older/original mostly-clean-vocals style of the genre (I@m not a big fan of the later harsh-vocals style either). Some bands to listen to are Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin (actually all from the 70s), then Iron Maiden, AC/DC (Rock rather than metal, but great anyway), Judas Priest, Rainbow, Dio, Metallica. The other classic symphonic metal band that pretty-much invented the genre is Therion. They started doing this sort of thing about 3 years before Nightwish formed, and they are still going too, through numerous changes in personel and style. They've been big on choirs and having 3-4 vocalists. One band with some harsh vocals that you might like is Epica - probably the 2nd-most successful symphonic metal band in the world (after Nightwish). Oh and you need to check out Ayreon too, which is more of a fascinating musical project than a band.
That lot should keep you entertained for a while. There are of course hundreds more bands and loads of great music, but you want to start gently :-) This is a deep hole you about to fall into...

Metal music has about 30 different subgenres so not every type is appreciated by everyone.
Nightwish is mainly Symphonic (orchestra in background) Metal, but they can do anything, which you'll have a chance to hear if you decide to continue.

  • @ronaldderooij1774
    @ronaldderooij1774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The genre is called "symphonic metal" and ideally it should be performed with a full orchestra behind the band. But only (to my knowledge) the band Epica did that at their 10th anniversary concert and they must have lost a lot of money then. By the way, this singer Floor Jansen (pronounce Yansen) sings two songs during that concert too with her good friend Simone Simons who is the lead singer of Epica. Floor Jansen is Dutch, performs in metal bands since whe was 16 and was trained at the rock acadamy in Tilburg (NL) and a few years of music university (opera) which she did not finish. She went in the direction of musical theatre (together with metal her true love) and she learned stage presence from a musical theatre teacher. Floor calls herself a vocal nerd. She is a HSP and has absolute hearing, and is a staunch perfectionist. She recently started a solo career besides Nightwish doing (good) pop songs she mostly wrote herself, focussing on mental health in all its aspects. (album My Paragon). She chose pop, because she had never done that before. She is regarded inside and outside the metal community as the best female singer of her generation, mainly because she can sing everyting, death growls, switching to full opera on a dime and everyting in between. She has many, many colors in her voice, without losing her vocal identity. If you want to see the masterpiece of Nightwish, it is in my opinion the Poet and the Pendulum, by far. And I am not even a metal fan.

Metal is very diverse and the music has something for almost everyone. It's not uncommon to feel that a metal song is classical music being played on distorted guitars.
You'll receive a lot of Nightwish recommendations in these comments and I heartily endorse them all, but I'll add another band, Unleash the Archers.
They're a Canadian power metal band from BC that plays on fantasy and sci-fi themes, but their music is still very approachable. "Awakening" th-cam.com/video/gqUPGa15Oto/w-d-xo.html
Last year they won a Juno award for the best metal album. One of the interesting things about "Awakening" is that it's the first song of a concept that spans two albums. In this song we're introduced to two characters, the Immortal who is sung by Brittney and the evil Matriarch who is sung/growled by Grant. It's an interesting gender flip as the part of the male protagonist is sung by a woman and the evil female is being sung by a man. It's a refreshing storyline as no excuses are being made for the evil Matriarch. She was born bad. BTW, Brittney wrote the storyline and it's quite the epic tale in a classical tradition of flawed heroes and villains laid low by their hubris. Check them out as they're a great next step after Nightwish.

@@KoalityReactions If you love sci-fi, you need to check out the "group" called Ayreon which is lead by Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Its basically a rock/metal opera concept/project that Arjen pulls together with numerous vocalists (including a certain someone you might have just listened to!) and musicians from all over the world to create sci-fi narrative driven music that spans multiple albums. "The day that the world breaks down" is probably the most reacted to song and, similarly to Ghost Love Score, is a good entry point to the music (despite having 11 different singers on it!)

What Gabriel said. Tuomas Holopainen, on keys, has three keyboards, a backing track controller, some SPFX triggers and one or two bottles of red wine behind that "pipe organ" stage decoration. He is THE Metal Mozart! This song comes from one of the best concerts of the decade if not the Century! BIG rabbithole with Nightwish!! Nightwish Army, Blue Mountains Corps, Australia. Nightwish since 1996.

As far as recommendations of where to go from here exploring Nightwish your going to get many. Here are some ideas about how go forward.
    1. Follow Gabriel's list. You can't go wrong with that.
    2. Pick one concert and listen to each song in order. There is a great TH-cam channel called Nightwish Arena that has many full concerts in the playlist section with each song of the concert as a separate video. I'd start with the Wacken 2013 concert. The song you just reacted to was the 13th out of a 15 song set list.
    3. If you want a bit of a softer introduction to metal check out the songs - I Want My Tears Back - Everdream - Storytime - Alpenglow - Elan - My Walden - Amaranth
    4. If you want to go for some of the harder stuff check out - Romanticide - I Wish I Had an Angel - Yours is an Empty Hope - Ghost River - Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean - 7 Days to the Wolves.
For doing reaction videos stick with videos from Nightwish's offial channel, Nuclear Blast Records official channel, or the Nightwish Arena channel. There you will find good quality video to use for your reactions .
I look forward to see where you go from here.

Thanks so much for this! I’ve already looked at Gabriel’s list, very helpful. Also good to know which channels to look for the videos. I think Storytime will be next just based on how many times it was recommended, but I think their lighter side might be more to my liking so I’ll definitely look at the others you mentioned. (I’ll also try the harder stuff, because you know, you’ve gotta try stuff to see what you like.) Thanks again!

Haha, the stereotype about metal as a wall of sound with animal noises kinda makes sense when it comes to modern metal (most of which sucks IMO). However, the original metal, as pioneered by Black Sabbath, was bluesy, groovy, melodic, slow-to-mid-paced and featured exclusively clean vocals. Today, this genre is known as doom metal (and it has plenty of subgenres on its own).
What you've just heard is more like a Hans Zimmer soundtrack with some power chords chugging along. While not a bad song by any means, it technically doesn't qualify as metal (one thing you'll soon find out about metal is that there is plenty of gatekeepers who love to define what is metal and what isn't). Fun fact: at the time of this performance, the singer (who surely must have been practicing singing in shower since she was a wee lass :) had her own band which was way, way, way heavier than Nightwish.

    • @KoalityReactions
      @KoalityReactions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That definition of original metal sounds like my jam. Blues, melodic, clean vocals - *chefs kiss* I definitely thought metal in general was what you called modern metal, which was never my thing. Haha I also love Hans Zimmer, so that's probably why I enjoyed this performance so much.
I knew about her other band from some other people in the comments. She's clearly a bad ass. And though we've probably both been shower singing the same amount of time, I think her professional training really tipped the scales in her favour. Haha! (I want to train too, it's just expensive right now).
      Thanks for the comment! Cheers.

@@KoalityReactions 😊Yes, Floor's badassness is not to be underestimated. She actually recorded her first demos at the age of 18, and a whole album a year later, prior to having any professional training: th-cam.com/video/Ecr02vX5w3k/w-d-xo.html
If you enjoyed this, let me suggest something that might be to your liking. Atmospheric doom metal - imagine a heavier Pink Floyd with much better vocals, courtesy of Anneke van Giersbergen. The band was the first in the Netherlands to feature a female lead singer, who became very influential in the scene and inspired quite a few other girls, including Floor Jansen, to follow the same path. Very much a reaction material too, but it's up to you. So here goes: The Gathering - On Most Surfaces live at Doornroosje: th-cam.com/video/gX9nHYj95gw/w-d-xo.html

I saw them twice last year and they put on a fantastic concert. My recommendatio is to stick with NIGHTWISH at Wacken 2013. There is a lot of great music from that concert. Very nice to see you 😀 And welcome to the world of Nightwish! As you already found out, there is quite big fanbase and this music is good gateway to metal music.
Metal music itself is maybe wider on range versus popmusic and there is lots of similarities with classical music. And in this case, very much blended with symphony elements. It can also be very very heavy and "cruel" but it does not have to be.
You will find "that" metal too what you were afraid but there is so much more to find! Welcome to the journey!
If i may, i would suggest next Storytime from Gabriel's list, if you want to stay in epicness 😁

There are so many types of metal, and to be honest it's all good. I recently realized in my late 50's that there are many groups who growl and scream are amazing. I have been going to more metal concerts in my 50's than i did in the 30plus years before, and It's awesome. I recommend trying a sample of all types of metal bands
Nightwish is my favorite ...i am a bit obsessed with Jinjer, Baby Metal, and Hanabie at the moment. I am going to see them all live in the next 6 weeks in New York.
