Hello Tim! Merry Christmas to you and family. Nice to see a new Cleveland block. 9.2 deck blocks have not been easy to get, ( even in a windsor ). Best of luck in this endeavor.
Awesome brother! Why Ford decided to axe the Cleveland is a mystery. That's alright we've got some light. Let the beast begin! Put that on your shirt man just came out. Sounded good lol.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland yeah I get that but they kept the 351/400M. Ford could have used both 302/351 335' series they sent to Australia here. I'm just saying they were proving their worth when it got the boot. Sux
@@MrADVANCEDTEKwell , think about it Ford’s V8 development in the 1960s . A lot was going on and Cleveland was at the end of the decade. Other engine families were suited for most of their applications. Insurance and emissions took it out. Shame too, because a larger displacement one would’ve been crazy good.
@@jamessharp9790 True and I understand the issues. Ford spent the money for R&D had more power and had little brother 302 just like the windsor. I do understand it's a cost thing and maybe a lack of what will bolt up to it plus it's size. It stayed relevant in the Nascar and NHRA arena. Both Nascar and NHRA has the proof it was better then most engines by so much it was given the most penalties even over bigger enginees. Ford will never convince me that it was the wrong engine for them with it's insurance scare and ignore it's accomplishments. I don't know of an engine that changed the field that much since the Hemi. Oh well. It's out there holding it's own and finally getting respect.
They killed the FE the same way. Why take a big dump on the engine that brought them to the dance? The engineering dollars that were spent to make it happen were lost, the Cleveland was the next link in the chain. Why? Now we have lame O 7 liter Windsors powered Cobra replicas. The beast still has the same power it had against the street Hemis. The Cleveland is the other casualty of cramming generic engines down our throats. Why? We know what we want.
really liked video, i tried to get alum heads made for my LincolnnYblock , could not afford it , the regs on foundries in this country makkes it cost prohibative , also most people dont realize it but the Lincoln Y block was fords first OHV V-8 it came out in 52 for big ford trucks and lincolns , this engine ranges from 279 cid to 368 , very heavy ,my favorite engine. Rick Martin Darrtown Ohio
Thanks Rick from Ohio. Yes heads big money for sure. An intake is about 30k to get made, pattern wise. I just saw one of the use blocks. Like the rock of Gibraltar
Nice one Tim, yes those Clevo blocks are great value.. An Automotive importer friend of mine here in Australia brought a bunch of these blocks in from China and they were snatched up super quick as you can imagine.Feedback on them from certified engine builders was good all round, only some had to have the lifter bores bushed as they were just out of tolerance. Otherwise really well done block.Am waiting for his next shipment so I can grab one for my next project in my Falcon. Keep up the great content Tim. 👍🏼😉
Cool stuff Tim. I've seen the machining prep work done on a Dart block, be interesting to see that in a video on one of these from start to ready to assemble.
I always wondered about the factory blocks-everyone said the Cylinder walls were too thin and would grenade. The only options were Aussie or SVO which was unobtainium without being rich. After awhile, realized that everywhere I went was the Bow tie groups, plus if you didn't hold the 351C at sustained 7000+ rpms-aka Nascar style racing, they are pretty much Fine! Long story short, I have been lugging around a stock D2 block, 2bolt, from a demoliton car that had a rusted broken frame and smashed the starter right away. Checked it out in college, ended up boring it .020" And I found that block in 1984.
Tim Dragboss great stuff looks the part did You give the Block builder the Specs You wanted, ie the thick pan rails and so on did You give them the make up off the type of cast Metal to good luck with the venture I hope it goes very well love the Cleveland Stuff I have liked them sense I was a Kid I have three one in My Falcon is a 1973 make out of a XA Falcon Wagon, well Tim And Family hope You have a great Christmas and a Fun new Year go the Mighty Cleveland V8 cheers Mick Australia
Thanks for the diagram and video Tim. Most people think the Cleveland is inferior to the Windsor and won’t build them for high performance applications because of this. I love the Cleveland but this does make it inferior in regards to oiling IMO but man do they ever breathe? This is why I went with a Clevor. Best of both worlds. The track boss block was just too pricey for my budget so I bought a World products block. A guy once told me you can screw plugs into the cam bearing oil feed holes of a Cleveland and force oil to the crank but I don’t believe that would work because then how would the cam bearings get oil?
Your welcome. It is the prelude to my video on my new DBG351C, new cleveland block. Yes cam restrictors. Cam bearing restrictors and main bearing restrictors is all I have ever done. Secret is 9 qt pan. I just could go Windsor. Now with the new Cleveland block, time to let her rip.
@ Awesome! Might have one myself one day but for now I have a nice Clevor. Still have my stock 351 CJ block I can build a nice street engine out of as well. Gotta love Cleveland’s!
Wow Tim, looks like Christmas came early,, from the video it looks good and beefy, even has the screw in freeze plugs,, I've seen those brand blocks for sale is that a Dark Horse block? What a great way to get their name out there,, have dragboss build a big HP Cleveland and we'll get to see how well the block holds up,, im with you though,, I try to buy made in the USA but anymore it's made overseas and then machined here!!! Happy holidays to you and your family
Awesome Tim 👍…. Congratulations on the new block ! Looks great and good video … how much to buy one if available or in the future? Thanks again Tim for another amazing video
The most important thing to check is hardness with a Leeb hardness test and sonic test all bores to see how thick and if any core shift. Here in Australia it would be a very popular block if it passes these tests😍
Ok Aussie Cleveland guy here. Very interested in this project. Why the different bore sizes? I can't wait for you to build it up and test it long term to see if they are up to it. Great work and merry Xmas
That's a nice looking piece there Tim!! Well done for taking a leap of faith. Any chance of getting the ship to drop some in Aus on the way past? Tim Australia 🇦🇺
My favorite engine. Learned how to drive in my older brothers 1971 Boss 351 canary yellow real deal mustang. 14 years at the time, 4 speed top loader. Amazing memories. I'm a foxbody mustang guy now. 80k original miles. Looking to swap motors soon. The 302 is in good shape. But a Cleveland is something very dear to my heart. Great content by the way. Was wondering what the price point on that block is? It would be elegantly nasty in a 3000lb foxbody. Please help with info on pricing on the Iron block. Thanks. Nothing sounds like a like a well built 351C, way better than these coyote swaps.
So true. Man can you imagine learning to drive with that Nassty 4 speed Cleveland. Very nice. Probably between a dart shp and an iron eagle. Thanks for checking out my vids.
My question is are you going to have a Bob Glidden style head in the future? I ask this cause the way Mr. Glidden did the Cleveland heads was a work of art and worked so great at the track.
The heads today are much better, in regards to port configuration. Most have raised intake and exhaust ports. I think his Cleveland heads were done by Mullen and co.
They all look good till you measure it up. The arrow blocks in au currently require about every face re machined and the main issue is lifter bores are in the wrong spot. Requires bushings.
No worries mate, that’s why these are semi finished and for professional assembly. Any block you buy needs at least 2k worth of machine work. That’s why having it evaluated. I have waited too long 18 years Adam. Tired of waiting and making it happen. Any race engine should have lifter bushings. 😉
Just like every new block, if you want to blueprint just about everything needs machining that's normal & expected. Happy owner of an 434 Arrow and just got the latest version as per the DBG block ready for machining.
When will they be available and when can I order mine!!!! I have dreamed of a 427 Cleveland for my 69 mustang. How much and when will they be available!!!! Outstanding job!!!!
Good question. I see shop for 2400, iron eagle 4300. Plus they still have shipping and machine work. I will be in between them, more towards iron eagle. This iron may be superior to the iron Eagle. Which is like grade 30, These are grade 35-40, will find out from WJ next week.
Who knows, good idea. I could stamp or have the part number put on in stock location. No one would lol. Nice lightening program , take of easy 25 lbs. be a game changer
Couple of questions Time, is the oil system standard Cleveland? Or Windsor style? Are all of the fasteners standard Cleveland seizing? Certainly looking forward to seeing more about this block
The block has priority oiling. Will make a video. Yes all seem factory. Main hardware don’t trust. WJ may have it tested. Me too for once an alternative, that is Cleveland. Get some more details. Stay tuned
Hey Tim. You have mentioned a few times that you made slightly more HP with a 4500 carby over a 4150. But you race with the 4150. Does the 4150 ET better, even though it makes a little less HP?
I have never raced it at 775 only dyno. When I did test combo previously. 752hp, 4500, 1050, 9.66 at like 137 +, switch intakes, 4150, 9.68, 136. 4150 fits under hood scoop perfect. Much better low end too. 1.25 60 now.
HT250 with 0.4% copper. Equates to grade 35-40? That is the first thing Johnson will do. We need to know how hard it is, for obvious reasons. But also to determine final finish/ what ring to use, ring seal is the key, to me. That’s how you build a motor. I forgot to add that. Thanks 👍👍
good for you DB ... seeing this vid brought back some bad memories when i got involved with the Tod block, had my name on 3 of them with deposits back in 2006, what a GONG show that was, lost hundreds of dollars getting my deposits back from tod. are these 9.2 or 9.5 ???
Then you remember me being involved back then. The two guys that supposedly had blocks have none for most part and will never make iron. Like I said done waiting and will take over the market.
DB, you know that iron has never been easy to cast, IMO what makes the offshore iron 351 W/C block offerings good is that they are cast by foundries that ALSO cast PRODUCTION BLOCKs & HEADs for other manufacturers, the iron is OE grade, same as what the dart SHP blocks are which have turned out to have less cracking issues than there higher end blocks and this is a fact. Wish you best of luck in your new endeavor.
Thanks you. I have heard lots of good things about and proven results. This block may not be perfect, but it has the key elements we need, and have desired for over 50 years. This is HT250 with 0.4% copper. Supposed to be equal to 30-40 US specs. Thank you for the support
What's the advantage of a Cleveland block over a Clevor style Windsor? The Windsor doesn't have that crazy front timing cover cast in and still takes Cleveland heads.
Great question. Clevor ain’t a Cleveland. Not much more to say, other than this is what the Cleveland should have been, guys like me and many other want to see what it is like to not have to be concerned with the plagues of a 54+ old blocks. Now a guy can make 600 hp with 427 ci Cleveland, easy. Also the Cleveland is one of the best engines or the best at making hp/per cube.
I saw that. But who cares, you get what you get and don’t have a fit. Not a big deal for a professional engine builder. You can put the lifter anywhere you want. They also said prob not a prob with keeping.875. That’s is the least of my worries. We will see. Thanks man
@@DragBoss351Cleveland its definitely good. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on these blocks. I have a few under my bench at 030 and of course my 393 is 040. A fresh one would be nice.
I will have a better idea, after I figure everything out. I will say this, got so many wanting one, sold 8 already only have a few to sell. Like I told the guys, no guarantee, I am going to order more soon. Email me thpa351@gmail.com
They were made for the Transam Mustang programme. First guy to run one was Allan Moffat in Australia with the Red Coca Cola Mustang. One of them with the 4V Ford Cleveland Alloy heads is for sale now Allan Moffat Racing tagged.
That is not true. As per WJ when we talked. The Chinese are very good at metallurgy. They have been pouring iron for 2500 years, 500 years before Christ. With that said. They will do things and use cheap as they can. But if you request anything, material type, certain precise cut or form they will do phenomenal. He said India has an awesome industry too. But as the Chinese, do the same. This block is pretty good, WJ did say iron or pattern dirty. The average hardness was 198, about 0.050 core shift. He said the hardware was good.
@@austincassell4741 as long as you're using the correct suppliers, I see no reason to be concerned, Chinese manufacturing has been a good solution for me in the past. I would love to push a DBG block to big #s w/ a turbo to prove my confidence! I would think 2500hp horsepower without issue 3000hp w/ a fat tune-up on methanol/EFI and a soft boost ramp.
Maybe labeled a "302" because in Australia they had a 302 Cleveland. No, not a Boss 302 with Cleveland heads on a Windsor block. They have a 302 built on the Cleveland block.

So Awesome!
Rock On!
Hope it all checks out! 👍👍😎☀️☘️
I’m hoping too. Keeping the faith. Have a great holiday season. Thanks for watching DBG
I purchased one of those blocks a few months ago and just finished dyno and its in the car running now. They are a good deal
Can i ask, what country are you in ???.... Did you use Standard .874" lifter diameter.. ???
@drcolster sydney australia. Yes I used .874 lifters
Ok, Hydraulic Roller ???
That’s what I like to hear. Thanks Steven 🏁
@@drcolster yes
Great news, you can get a brand new cleavland 👌💪
That’s what I am talking about. Trying to gauge this venture, as it is my adventure.
really liked video, i tried to get alum heads made for my LincolnnYblock , could not afford it , the regs on foundries in this country makkes it cost prohibative , also most people dont realize it but the Lincoln Y block was fords first OHV V-8 it came out in 52 for big ford trucks and lincolns , this engine ranges from 279 cid to 368 , very heavy ,my favorite engine. Rick Martin Darrtown Ohio
Thanks Rick from Ohio. Yes heads big money for sure. An intake is about 30k to get made, pattern wise. I just saw one of the use blocks. Like the rock of Gibraltar
nice looking block. good beef.
That’s what I was saying, look at the beef. 🥩
21:41 Guaranteed with a DBG sticker on it! Will look good on the wall!
It will be race ready by the time you get done with it!
Thanks my friend. Working on the next order. I will this week coming up more details on the block. I have heard the same mate.
Where can I buy one?
@mwyson4095 from me…
That is amazing!!!
Very Amazing indeed Darrell
Cool stuff Tim. I've seen the machining prep work done on a Dart block, be interesting to see that in a video on one of these from start to ready to assemble.
Dave , I may get this done at Jays. WJ does not like Anything in his shop photographed. He may change his mind.
Checked it out in college, ended up boring it .020"
And I found that block in 1984.
Now is the time to get it together instead of lugging it around.
Woohoo got to nail the first thumbs up…
Dam it man your in there like swim wear. Congrats 🏁
Holy crap! Talk bout an early Christmas!
It’s like y’all turned DBG into the FoMoCo Cleveland annex!
Congratulations on a HUGE accomplishment, Tim!
I said almost the same words, lol. Yes, and I am going to order 10 more too 😉
Awesome tim
Glad you approve Marv. Can you imagine the possibilities?
@DragBoss351Cleveland that's what I'm thinking tim
Right on. Think about your race program 😊

Happy New Year Thomas
Tim Dragboss great stuff looks the part did You give the Block builder the Specs You wanted, ie the thick pan rails and so on did You give them the make up off the type of cast Metal to good luck with the venture I hope it goes very well love the Cleveland Stuff I have liked them sense I was a Kid I have three one in My Falcon is a 1973 make out of a XA Falcon Wagon, well Tim And Family hope You have a great Christmas and a Fun new Year go the Mighty Cleveland V8 cheers Mick Australia
Thanks Mick for the support, great to see the Falcon fans out there. We are looking forward to testing this block!
@sparksandgritgarage555 for sure my friend. Do what works for you. Appreciate you being here.
Oops forgot to say I'm really excited to see this and if the engine goes in my mach I know and hope your block will be a better replacement.
Thanks me too man. I rolled the dice, come on 7s.
I see pantera has been mentioned, so I lift my hands too 🙌
Right on Captn. One of my favorite cars. Of course it has a Cleveland on it. 😊🏁

Thank you! You too! John. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. 🎄
Get ur engraver ready Tim an make the arrows on those caps to the front of the engine just in case looks awsome
Great idea. I and working on a metal stamp, so that is a great idea.

That thing is BOSS!
Right on brother DragBoss 351C
Awesome Tim 👍…. Congratulations on the new block ! Looks great and good video … how much to buy one if available or in the future? Thanks again Tim for another amazing video
Working out all the details. Pretty stoked, and will keep you posted. Glad you’re here, lots more to look forward to…
The most important thing to check is hardness with a Leeb hardness test and sonic test all bores to see how thick and if any core shift. Here in Australia it would be a very popular block if it passes these tests😍
We have this block in Australia, for some time now.🙄
Yep. The first test. Build around the rings/seal. These are supposed to be sonic. These look too dam good. We I’ll find out from the man WJ.
We ain’t, so it’s up to me to take care of that mate.
@@alexb6018 Yes, but i would like to know how the hardness compares to the Dart block material🤔
@@alexb6018 You know the first Arrow blocks were a lot softer than a factory Cleveland block. When they were boring them out they cut like butter.
Ok Aussie Cleveland guy here. Very interested in this project. Why the different bore sizes? I can't wait for you to build it up and test it long term to see if they are up to it. Great work and merry Xmas
In case someone wanted only a 4 inch bore..
WoW.
Dam wow nice
Right on Tim
10:22 I think I am dreaming! Had to pinch myself, LOL
That's a nice looking piece there Tim!! Well done for taking a leap of faith. Any chance of getting the ship to drop some in Aus on the way past? Tim Australia 🇦🇺
We had them here already matey.
I can make that happen. 🇦🇺🇺🇸🏁
Not the DBG 351C, that is a DragBoss Exclusive 😉🇦🇺🇺🇸🏁
Nice piece Tim ! well done ! the golden question is how much ?
Working on that now. Warren Johnson is evaluating one, overall not bad since there are none available in the states.
Love the cougar . What size rear tire ? Love that look
Hopefully Tim the production tolerances and cast quality is at a level to support some big cube canted valve output
Time will tell fingers crossed 🤞 🚀
Well, you could buy a 460...which is just an even Bigger 351 Clevo.
@kramrollin69 absolutely ,
I'd be happy with the Windsor based aftermarket block with the Cleveland main journal diameter
That’s it. I’m a gambling man and that what I am, I keep the faith. Dale, it’s my turn now. 😉
@DragBoss351Cleveland Faith without action is dead
Go for it Tim
A new stout Cleveland block is well worth it 👌
Yes sir. I agree. I put my head down and don’t stop until I achieve my goal. Slow, but sure
Great Work Tim... Bored, Honed, Line honed.. Splayed billet caps.. they look good..Did they revise the Oiling System ???...
Yes priority oiling. See what WJ says on evaluation.
Right on mate. You get it. Nothing is bolt together. Every new block, needs work done. Appreciate you 🏁
Great great content DB. Tons of questions but your busy. One important to me question........your thoughts on the RY 45 block ??
Thanks Bob. The Yates block? Don’t know much about it, 4.500 bore space is cool. I’m old school of that tells you anything
@DragBoss351Cleveland me either DB. Thx for the response and HAPPY NEW YEAR. Good luck moving forward. And in closing. God Bless Fo-Mo-Co.😂
Yepper, then we don’t want that 45RY. Unless it was free, lol.

I have sold most. And ready to order a few more. I may take money down, working on details.
Just a wondering if the oiling is stock or is it revised? If revised, maybe a new video explaining the updates. Awesome video.
It is revised to priority oiling. Ha ha so good. Already doing one. Thanks Ken
You get into selling them, I will work for you delivering them!💪
That will work, DBG JE Express
When will they be available and when can I order mine!!!! I have dreamed of a 427 Cleveland for my 69 mustang. How much and when will they be available!!!! Outstanding job!!!!
Email me at thpa351@gmail.com. Man that would be a killer machine Doug
That’s awesome to see another aftermarket Cleveland block. Are these blocks priced competitive with a SBF Dart SHP or Iron Eagle Windsor block.
Good question. I see shop for 2400, iron eagle 4300. Plus they still have shipping and machine work. I will be in between them, more towards iron eagle. This iron may be superior to the iron Eagle. Which is like grade 30, These are grade 35-40, will find out from WJ next week.
@ Okay. Perfect. Those blocks are going to be the perfect platform for a big CI Cleveland. I’ll definitely be paying attention to your build. Thanks.
Thanks a couple of builds. 3 to be exactly all cleveland. All 427, ci two iron and one aluminum. Stay tuned.
Will this block get NHRA blessing for stock and superstock?
Who knows, good idea. I could stamp or have the part number put on in stock location. No one would lol. Nice lightening program , take of easy 25 lbs. be a game changer
Couple of questions Time, is the oil system standard Cleveland? Or Windsor style? Are all of the fasteners standard Cleveland seizing?
Certainly looking forward to seeing more about this block
The block has priority oiling. Will make a video. Yes all seem factory. Main hardware don’t trust. WJ may have it tested. Me too for once an alternative, that is Cleveland. Get some more details. Stay tuned
i just bought.1 of those blocks im in New Zealand.its made in China.its identical even came in same box with red lid.
Did you get it through Sydney?
Good deal. Would love to come to kiwi country. Thanks for watching mate. Keep me posted on your build.
No
@@DragBoss351Cleveland I was referring to our Kiwi friend, but cool you got them in the US. Looking forward to your future info and opinion.
No worries mate. Thanks for being here
Did they tell you how much nickel and specific cast metals.?
HT250 with 0.4% copper. Equates to grade 35-40? That is the first thing Johnson will do. We need to know how hard it is, for obvious reasons. But also to determine final finish/ what ring to use, ring seal is the key, to me. That’s how you build a motor. I forgot to add that. Thanks 👍👍
Strong yes, because 160 to 200 v8 block are common weight
Right on brother
A solid platform is key, so check it out top to bottom and build a killer.
Warren Johnson sure will.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland I have no doubt....
Know next week. Stay tuned
good for you DB ... seeing this vid brought back some bad memories when i got involved with the Tod block, had my name on 3 of them with deposits back in 2006, what a GONG show that was, lost hundreds of dollars getting my deposits back from tod.
are these 9.2 or 9.5 ???
Awsome. Cooking with NOS their Tim. Hahaa
Ha ha Michael. No spray today, but it will be coming for someone in the future. 🇦🇺
Theres a facebook video from competition engines about the lifter bores on these being way off.
Nothing is perfect. The block alone can pic up an 30 or 40hp from ring seal alone depending on the build. Getting evaluated so will know soon.
When can we buy one and how much
I will have a better idea, after I figure everything out. I will say this, got so many wanting one, sold 8 already only have a few to sell. Like I told the guys, no guarantee, I am going to order more soon. Email me thpa351@gmail.com
What’s the cost of the new 351 Cleveland block. Thanks.
Funny thing I had a C aluminum block w a 1968 casting date on it, whats w that.
I have an iron one from 68. It was one of the first aluminum blocks for trans am racing. That had weak mains with 7/16 bolts.
They were made for the Transam Mustang programme. First guy to run one was Allan Moffat in Australia with the Red Coca Cola Mustang. One of them with the 4V Ford Cleveland Alloy heads is for sale now Allan Moffat Racing tagged.
@@alexb6018 So for TransAm racing it would have been a Boss 302, so the C engine was not a C at all it was a Boss High-bred.
I saw a video about these blocks and there were problems with the liftet bores and some othe problems
Yes I saw that too. that is the least of my worry, that can be made right, no big deal. They also said probably no prob with .875 lifter.
Should have put a Cleveland in your 66 rambler lol😊
Ha ha ha it has a 1bbl 199 ci 3 on the tree. Best lot car. 5 acres of fields and dirt paths. The best times
Where are they being made tho???
He said China more then once.....
What up? You are correct. Thanks
@@the_hobby_cavethcracing444I must've missed it, all I heard was overseas
Chinese steel is absolute junk, can't imagine the aluminum being any better
How come you don't mention where to buy this block?
Don’t need to. What difference does it make?
I would like to see you put darens heads on a 454. You might break the 7s.
Who makes the main bolts? Oil passages converted to priority main?
Who cares about bolts, replace them. Buy once cry once. Yes priority main.
@DragBoss351Cleveland just curious about the bolts. Yes I would always go with ARP but would be nice if they came with them.
They don’t look dependable to me. P1 mfg is going to sponsor me for hardware, top quality and only other manufacturer.
Maybe labeled a "302" because in Australia they had a 302 Cleveland. No, not a Boss 302 with Cleveland heads on a Windsor block. They have a 302 built on the Cleveland block.
Yes very familiar with the 302C. Cool stuff appreciate you!
I'm surprised you didn't have some sort of casting number put on that surface
I did not design it. May be in future
