    These are excellent representations of j bay. Trevor is a class act like many of the locals. Any visitor who plays by the rules can have a truly world class experience. Mine was 30 years ago but these posts are an incredible reminder of how j bay is unlike anywhere else in the world.Thanks!

    Mahalo Trever for the stoke you bring on about your home brake. I understand the vibe your talking about with Michel. J Bay is a special place, I do miss it not just the waves the land and its people.

    So cool to see the local legends from my youth popping up in this series! Small world - recenlty bought a board shaped for Shane Thorne... loved it (although a bit under-volume for my old frame) and just had it scaled up as a J-Bay step-up!

    Epic report. I headed to JBay from NZ when I was 21 in 1975 after watching Endless Summer. Spent four months there with a bunch of west-Sydney guys, some surf heroes like Terry Fitzgerald and visiting Hawaiins including Bunker Spreckles, Clark Gable's stepson. I watched a young Shaun Thomson out-surfing everyone. But no one talked about sharks and no one saw them in JBay. I noticed during the Mick Fanning "attack" that fishing boats were lined up on the horizon . I never saw a fishing boat the whole time I was there. and attacks were at The Cape or near East London.??? JBay remains a super special memory for me. It cranked beyond my ability.

    Rad episode .. makes me bummed sitting in CT and not being up there. Life is always better when an ou gets up that side! I’ve never had any issues with locals in JBay or CSF especially when it gets some size.
    Nothing beats that feeling of pulling into Pepper street or the other parking spots when the waves are pumping down that point.

    yeah every country and break has it's own surf culture. the locals sound pretty mellow in j bay so long as you have a little respect. the best locals are the ones who maintain order without violence, get their waves and surf them well, and keep a good vibe. benevolent rulers haha where I'm from the localism is generally mellow but the growing surf population and tourists are testing us lately. I certainly don't roll out the red carpet haha. there are quite a few South Africans moving in and they seem to blend in pretty well, good surfers and know how to keep it mellow and play by the rules. it's funny that the Belgian guy mentioned the French surf etiquette being bad. I mostly have problems with Italian and French surfers. they often think they're better than they are and they can slot right into the rotation with the longtime locals. super annoying.

    • @pred7949

      lol, its not just french and italian surfers, its literally any italian or frenchman. lovely countries, terrible people

    • @oceanadventures365
      @oceanadventures365  ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt had a good heat in good conditions and didn't make it fair and square. Love Matt and his grit but think there are styles that suit JBay better.(just my opinion) As I said rooting for all the saffas always..

    How can you have a passion for photography which relates to appreciation for your surroundings/nature & not believe there is a creator. That sounds about as ignorant/ arrogant as valuing your pics over the subject
