Obviously slashers existed before Halloween (which was directly inspired by Psycho, Black Christmas, etc), but Halloween came out in 78. Friday the 13th was literally originally conceived as a rip-off of Halloween when it was still in theaters, as were a slew of other slashers that came out in the early to mid 80s. Friday the 13th ended up inspiring even more films and helped contribute to and really kick off the slasher craze, but literally the whole thing spawned directly from the release of Halloween. In "Aliens" she's not the most clever nor the strongest but she gains respect and trust from the others by earning it. She's unlike all female characters that followed, and I wanted to emphasis that point, because "strong" female characters might have gone up in numbers after that but surely not in quality, especialy nowdays.

She literally prefer overrated horror films overall, she put overyped horror films into 'Transformed the genre' and put underrated horror film into the 'overhyped' category. She found Hellraiser to be too 'sick and demented' but is it not that the point of horror ? If you are a real horror fan you have a passion for the sick and demented, this just proves you that she is a hypocrite and a lightweight when it comes to horror. Yet she has Saw and Texas Chainsaw massacre, horror films which shocked audiences in terms of graphical violence as horror films among her favourites.

Saying she puts “overhyped movies” at a certain tier again is another contradiction because you are putting your opinion above someone else’s. Your idea of overhyped is diff to someone else. I would argue that Evil Dead has to be in "forever a classic" because out of all these horror movies on the list, how many resulted in their own tv series? Additionally, how many have spawned successful videogames and comics? Obviously you're right about fans liking it "just for fun" but it has nearly 40 years of a dedicated cult following. So many films owe the Evil Dead franchise a debt of gratitude for it's influence on the film industry inside and outside the horror genre. She's trippin. It's a definite classic and very seminal.
Edit: If any of you want to see a movie that is very similar to Evil Dead from a stylistic and atmospheric respect check out the Japanese film "Evil Dead Trap". It's its own unique story (and very well done), but it does play off of overtly obvious elements of the original.

they HAVE done it justice! it's a very political franchise and honestly the only one that isn't really good is the first one because its just a home invasion movie. The First Purge is probably the best out of all the films in the series, laying out the groundwork for the franchise and the in-universe political agenda of the purge. there are very blatant themes of racism and classism that criticize the real US government in a sometimes bold sometimes subtle way. there's also the TV show, which is incredible and shows the effects of the purge after, before and during the so called holiday. The Purge has already been fone justice

I don't necessarily think you should've named the top tier "transformed the genre" as you seemed to just put what you liked there. Which is fine obviously but there are lots of stuff that easily deserves to be there from their influence. Like Halloween for instance quite literally created the modern stalker slasher genre as we know it, Friday is an admitted rip off of it. The Ring is another that should be in the top tier by technicality because it brought the era of a adapting Japanese Horror for many years, one of the more prolific ones to come out of that era is The Grudge. And of course Scream by your tier definition is easily top tier influence on the horror genre.
Edit: Omg wow wow ok then, I reached that part of the video. I would highly recommend looking into the influence Jaws has had on the film industry as a whole, because based on "transforming the genre" goes, this movie transformed all of Hollywood. This is probably the most influential and important film ever made.
Edit 2: Hellraiser is another one I think if you'd have seen all of the films you would reconsider where you put it. Even if you're one to like or even love the first film or even first few films, I think we could all agree it belongs in the just stop category as that franchise gets so damn atrocious that studios were literally reworking scripts that weren't even made to be Hellraiser movies just to put cenobites in them and dispose that shit out onto some direct to DVD schlock. Half of them couldn't even be bothered to be put on Blu Ray it's so bad.
Edit 3: Although I can't really argue with your opinion on The Conjuring, I think in principle you should recognize this one for "transforming the genre" as well, for better or for worse. You may say for worse, but you must see that it has begun the obsession with demonic possession that has become the new era of horror.

I don’t think Friday the 13th is a rip off of Halloween. It rips off too many other movies to be solely a Halloween rip off. They are so much different as movies, that the only similarity is that there is a killer. Friday literally started the slasher boom. In 1981 there were a ton of slasher films which have more in common with F13 than Halloween.

I know the Evil Dead had a "remake" sequel and also the tv series Ash vs Evil Dead which blends horror and comedy. My favorite thing about the remake though was Jane Levy got to portray the horror trope of being the first victim, killer/antagonist and the films final girl. That's just so iconic to me

The most notable horror franchises that you missed that I can think of are Phantasm, The Omen and The Exorcist. I would rank the first two in 'Classic' and the third in 'Transformed...'. My favorites are Scream and The Ring, though I would put The Ring in 'Just for Fun' until more time has passed. In retrospect, I'd have to say Jaws and Alien transformed the genre a lot more than Friday the 13th, but that's just me.

Yea but it's basically the same story in every movie except part 2 you could easily separate the original Carrie and it's sequel from the 2 remakes there's quite a few franchises this could apply to like the universal monsters franchise like dracula Frankenstein and the wolfman the mummy invisible man they all have their own films from the 30s and 40s but do we consider any of the later movies like the hammer horror ones or the 90s dracula and Frankenstein to be part of the original franchise?

fascinating to see how the comments show tons of different opinions! Just goes to show that fear is subjective and what you consider a classic or transformative to someone else could be overhyped or dull. You can say fear is subjective when it comes to movies sure becomes they’re just fictional. But one thing we all have in common (unless you’re a psycho lol) No one wants to be killed. So if a villian (from a movie you don’t consider a scary movie) was real, you’d still be scared as they’re after your life. Doesn’t matter who the villian would be. So subjective fear sometimes is limited to fictional things/characters.
