Zero sarcasm - as an ultralight backpacking snob, it's fun to see a more traditional backpacking gear loadout. I didn't hear a single mention of how many grams something was.
Seriously. I think I’ve become conditioned and kept thinking “well, there are better options than that”. I’m not giving up ultralight or anything, but it’s a good reminder that not ever hike is a thru hike.
@@Esundevil As a person who walks 25+ miles a day through rough, rugged and unmarked terrain with no visible paths or roads during inhospitable weather conditions using only a compass, GPS unit and satellite topographic maps, I have never and will never use the word 'Through-Hike' - If you don't really need a personal locator beacon and the next town is less than 60 miles away, you're not hiking or trekking, you're going on a leisurely walk through a nature park down well-worn paths...
My wife and I love our Talus 2! Biggest selling point, in addition to the look and light weight, is that the extra width in the footbox allows us to easily fit our double sleeping pad in the tent. Most backpacking tents don't have enough space in the foot. We use the Recharge DW by Paria and sleep like a dream. It's the one piece gear my wife insists we take. Keep 'em coming. 👍
Hey if you guys want a tip on a comfy pillow then buy a stuffsack, therma rest makes one and stick your puffy jacket in it! Unless you where your's at night when you sleep. Works better than the pillow I have at home and if you want it firmer just add socks and underwear (clean preferably! 😆) And whatever extra clothes you have in it!

I have the Mammut Ducan High GTX boots. They are THE most comfortable boots I've ever had. Grippy soles, great support, breathable in warm weather but also warm enough in cooler weather. Mammut for the win!
This is your first video I ever watched and it is so welcoming, I am staying here for more, keep up good work ! Thanks for sharing your adventure equipment with us.
Enjoy your videos, keep it up. For pads look at exped duo, several versions depending on expected temp range. A double pad is much easier with better results than tying pads together. Klymit makes an insulated double although it’s a little heavy. You basically need an R5 pad for a winter bag to perform to it stated rating. For example a 20 degree bag with an R4 is more like a 30 degree bag. R values and bag ratings are not that exact but that’s another subject. Along the same lines a double bag/quilt makes better use of shared body temp, more comfortable than sleeping separately. Choices include Sierra designs backcountry duo, Nemo tango duo, thermarest vela and enlightened equipment accomplice.
