You guys have got to be the best parents a child could ask for. I love that you guys are so real such as " we have to wait 15 min so we not the first ones" " why so we don't seem eager to drop our child off" that's what every parent would think just wouldn't say. I love it. I grew up with an older brother with mental handicaps. He went to a special school with other kids with all different kinds of talents. I have taught my son that people with talents are super heros with super powers. So my son gets all gitty when we see someone who's a super hero!!!
I just think you two are the cutest parents ever....LOL....I love the attitude that you and your wife bring to your lives regardless of what gets thrown at you. That sense of teamwork and partnership is beautiful:)
I have been working at camp like this in Michigan for several years now and believe me. We are just so grateful to get to spend time with your kids and have you let us be a part of there lives!
i worked at a special needs camp last summer and its really awesome to see it from the parents point of view! this vlog makes me happy; remembering standing and clapping as the campers arrived and those first moments when you meet your camper! I bet Abbie will have a blast!
The music and the camp scene is perfect. That is true perfection. Had tears of joy and just a parent instinct. You guys are beautiful. I've been watching for almost two years. I always find a great video.
They were chanting her name as you drove up 😭😭😭 so sweet. I hope that helped to reassure you guys they were there for your girl. They seemed just as excited about it as she did. 😁
Priscilla: "If she has to choose between eggs and cereal, she's gonna want cereal." Siri: "Don't worry about it" Lol! 🤣😂 Every time Abbie tapped Priscilla during the car ride I laughed!
In North Carolina people put their hazards on in bad storms so that you can see their car through the heavy rain. We don’t get heavy rains too often so everyone goes below the speed limit and some have hazards on.
that was lovely welcome all shouting names n clapping so nice need more swings only one special swing update i love how this year 2018 all new work done looks so much better
Lol never worry about showing up right at your check-in time, that’s why we assign them. We have 4 o’clock parents in line at 2:45 -Andrew from the Camp office
I work for specialized programs in Seattle and we have youth and adult camps. Lists and personal notes from parents for their non-verbal kids are so appreciated!!
Agreed 10000% about the abuse of hazard lights in the rain. Like they think it ain't raining 50 yards behind them too. All it accomplishes is help reduce the noticability of actual braking. It actually increases the danger of getting rear ended.
My high school kids volunteer a week every summer at a camp in Minnesota. It is life changing to experience this. They talk about their new friends all year!
I work in a school with kids with developmental disability and don’t ever think you look bad for dropping your child off right when you’re suppose to! It makes you look like an amazing parent because you’re timely and find their tasks and activities as important as your own!!
Ahahahaha the end. "THIRTY SECONDS... thirty seconds she leaves you to your own devices!" Your banter with Priscilla in this blog made me actually laugh so many times. Y'all are so loving and good-natured. I know this is old, so I gotta see how Abbie enjoyed camp!
As a person who has worked with teens with special needs, I'm sure her camp buddy was super grateful for all the lists. The lists that the parents give are WAY more helpful than the documents that the doctors and therapists provide. Sometimes it was just a list of diagnoses and I'm like "um... okay. 'Profound intellectual disability' tells me nothing about their behaviors, but I guess I'll just figure it out. (sigh)"
I love Abigail she is so sweet.she the best.she is so happy and positive. And does not let nobody Bring her down. Y'all keep you the good videos I wish y'all the best of luck with Abigail.love y'all have a good day.🦄
Hazard light usage while driving varies by state. Here in PA they are allowed if you are going below the minimum speed limit. I got stuck in that downpour while driving through Ohio on Friday and used mine because I could only go 30mph in a 65mph zone and they are allowed to be used by motor vehicles when hazardous conditions are present - including extremely limited visibility. While it may upset people behind me that my 4 ways are flashing I don't care because it's THEIR responsibility not to get too close to me during hazardous conditions. If my lights are annoying them and causing them to back off then they're doing their job.
they're probably from our area if they're driving with hazards. It's legal in NY because it's for icy road driving. It's our signal to drive with caution together over dangerous roads.
Sunniedew it's illegal in California I live in the mountains so we get snow and rain and it bothers me so much when people do😐 I would think it would be pretty obvious to everyone else that it's raining or snowing
Right, but in our area it's legal to use hazard lights because of blizzard conditions. Hazard lights can be seen more easily front and back than headlights, which is why during blizzard and white out conditions NY state law allow hazard light driving. Note the difference in state, which I also said in my original post two months ago. I was showing some states have different regulations so if the people they were talking about could have lived elsewhere where it is legal, they may not have known they were breaking a law.
Sunniedew no shit note that I said in California not your state😊 it's still annoying even if it's a law, everyone knows it's snowing and chances are they will see you no problem without being annoying lol
I used to love the fact that all the tourist didn't get that the giant storm that's dumping rain on them would be over if they just waited like 20 minutes got lunch or whatever but no they'd retreat go back to the hotel or whatever and the rides would be line free until they all realized wait it's sunny we can go back. Though I will admit driving in FL's afternoon monsoons absolutely terrifying when you are learning to drive! I moved back up north and my English teacher was like have you driven in snow? (Jammed out of FL the day I turned 18 finished school in MA) I was taught well by my English teacher out of the kindness of his heart to drive in snow it's a toss up for me which is worse to be honest. Midday monsoon or blizzard gonna have to say maybe the blizzard just because its piling up. And you can't see the road lines but standing water on the side of the road you can't tell how deep it is. Brought back some crazy memories. I once drove 8 hours in a blizzard my hands were in permanent steering wheel grip position for a good 30 minutes when I arrived safely.
I love watching your vlogs I love that Isaiah is so helpful as a big brother autism isn’t a game to mess with and isn’t easy to handle I have Asperger syndrome and my best friend does too he told me a lot about it and he helped me with meltdowns and I helped him it’s great that your family is easy going with autism I love you guys so much
My mom would turn on the hazard lights to make us feel safe in those situations! Idk just what my mom would do ! Love your videos makes me smile so much ! ❤️
Love this blog! You guys such troopers! Thanks for paving the way for us white knuckle riders thinking how... how the heck in the future... because of Cilla I'll be... I'm so excited! 💜🌈⭐️Arohanui
Y'all all are so down to earth real talk. I love it that Abigail was like, "Yeah love ya mom & dad, peace out!"... Is that a thing I still have to remind my two verbal kids to take clothes off B4 bath. They still fight over who showers first. #waterbabies :o)
I love you guys!!! I have been watching your vids here and there and honestly Abbie and Isaiah are super lucky to have y'all as parents. I personally don't know anyone with autism but this is interesting to me and really good to know some of your routines etc. keep doing what y'all do :) so much love and support from Australia !
I watch y'alls videos religiously and I'm crying because I feel like I'm sending my own kid to camp. (Please keep in mind I'm 18 and I tend to get overly involved because I have to much interest and love to give) Also that's a dope sensory room like oh my goodness.
Bahahaha I'm new to your channel, so I'm watching a lot of old vids now. And I already love this video bc of you saying she is sitting with no pants on, and that she ran of on the street without them. I was like that once....yup. My mom got me switched 3 pairs of cloths bc I keep on jumping in the water with it and than she was done and took me almost naked to our appointment for my new school. I guess they loved me baaaaaah.
Ok I know we said we weren't gonna cry when dropping Abbie off but I broke!!! The moment I heard them chanting Abbie's name I broke down that was so amazing 🤩🙌 🥲 n just beautiful ❤️ 🥲🥲 I have a 7 yr old son who's autisic and has sensory processing ADHD mpd so to see that type of exceptance is awesome ❤️ n gives me hope for the future for my son
About the hazard lights...It's not illegal to drive with them on in every state. If the state allows it, I think it is acceptable to use them in heavy rain if you're on the highway and need to drive significantly slower than the posted speed limit. This is fairly useful when visibility is low and there is no place to pull over and stop. With the flashing lights, drivers are aware of a slow moving car much earlier than they might be otherwise. Obviously, it's a good idea to stay in the far right lane. Never change lanes with the hazards on, because they prevent you from signaling a lane change.
I think it would be really cool if you guys did videos every now and again that go through the things Abby likes and dislikes even though she's nonverbal. As somebody with autism it would be really cool to understand what things she enjoys doing even when we arent there always to experience it with you guys. I'd love to understand the idea of what shes like and what stimuli she enjoys the best no matter how weird or specific it is, especially if its specific! Maybe theres good stories about how you came to understand how she engages with things in her environment. Just a suggestion! Thankyou so much for your time and energy!
I listen to you while cleaning with headphones Anyone who sees me through the window sees me laughing my ass off You are so stressed out and cute and funny ❤️💙👌😂 Oftentimes new fresh young people take hard duties so much light hearted than everyday care keepers Love you to death Parents of the century 🙏☀️💋
Great info for working with abby at camp! Also my family is on CDC+ and my family drops off my brother about 30 minutes so we get it hahaha. She's having an amazing week.
In Canada, we often get "white-outs" when it snows, making it almost impossible to see the cars driving in front of you. It's often safer to drive with our hazards on, just so the people behind us know where our car is.

Jocelyn loves to run out the door and into the front yard naked, makes me crazy! You aren't over the top at all, Jocelyn is staying at her Nana's tonight who lives a few streets over and it looked like she was going away for a month with the amount of stuff we packed. Omg, watching Abbie her meet her buddy, I'm crying 😢😅 what an amazing camp! You can tell she loves it!
I am autistic also,i am nearly 26 though. I can speak but in certain situations i lose my ability to speak. I have no control over it which i hate. I have never gotten help in any sort of my autism.up until maybe 4 years ago i didnt even know there was a such thing. I still dont have help but its nice knowing its out there. I struggle a lot to understand myself and why i do certain things and why i cant do things. I dont do a lot of stimming. I dont like doing them especially in a public place because it feels embarrassing. But i try to be kind to myself about needing to do them.one that i do the most is rocking. I also have comfort in blankets like abbie does. I have a baby blanket my mom crotchet for me before i was born. I cannot sleep without it and when i was an infant up until 14 i actually slept with blankie ( its name lol) in a big ball ontop of my face.my mom told me shed remove blankie because she thought i couldnt breathe but i would pull it back on my face lol.after a while she realized i can breathe that way and she let me be me. Some people try to pick on me for my blanket but i dont care what anyone says. When i go places i try to fit in so instead of carrying blankie i wear a hoodie. I love them even in hot weather because they help me feel safe, like my blanket. I believe the gray blanket abbie has is the same one i have on my bed. I love it.its super soft. That was actually my main reason for typing this message lol sorry. I like how she puts her red blanket on her head. Sometimes i do that with my blankets. I have trouble with people touching me, unless i love them a lot and want a hug from them. As a child i grew up in an abusive household so it kind of adds to the tension when people touch me.but ive learned how to cope with it pretty well and usually i only flinch if i dont know the person. I kind of contradict myself because i actually love hugs and cuddles. So it makes everything confusing. One thing i do sometimes, especially when trying to sleep and cant( that could possibly help abbie ❤) is i ball my blankie up and set it in the middle of my back.it makes me feel like im being hugged. Im sorry i wrote so much. I hope she enjoyed camp, i actually teared up at the welcome she got. ❤ i hope you're all safe in the weather over there. Much love to your beautiful family. ❤❤
Felicity Johnston it's ok I like blankets too. I had a light blue one I used to carry around I'd named silky (it was light blue satin) that my grandma gave me when I was a toddler. My mom threw it away when I was a teen because she said I was too old for it. I'm 30 now and I have a ton of fleece blankets all over my house. I always have one over my legs when I'm sitting around. It just feels comforting. I actually have a grey one on me right now!
I don’t have a autism but I struggle socially and I love blankets as well I’m 12 and have a baby blanket called omel Mac Donald it’s called that because when I was little I couldn’t say old mc Donald I still sleep with it as well as a grey fluffy blanket a well it’s really calming for me to just put the blanket over my head and rock because I don’t have many friends because of my social awkwardness it good to know there’s others like me
I think Abbie knows what you were saying because when you were stressed at that moment she hit don’t worry about it With all the things in her iPad she chose that one She knows more then anyone thinks
Asa " are you going to cry?" Priscilla " No" while shaking her head like no way LOL that was too funny I feel you Priscilla I got 5 kids so I get you LOL .
You guys have got to be the best parents a child could ask for. it warms my heart to see her being accepted into camp
Listening to them cheering and chanting like that when they pulled into the driveway makes her feel special and it brought happy tears to my eyes.
Every time Abby's little hand came up to tap Priscilla on the arm during the car ride made me giggle 😂❤️
soooo adorable ❤️❤️
Yess me too I was giggling as her hand kept reappearing to tap mommy like “ look “ lol
I don’t think it’s the best cause she’s constantly turning around and not concentrating on her driving
The music and the camp scene is perfect. That is true perfection. Had tears of joy and just a parent instinct. You guys are beautiful. I've been watching for almost two years. I always find a great video.

I don’t have a autism but I struggle socially and I love blankets as well I’m 12 and have a baby blanket called omel Mac Donald it’s called that because when I was little I couldn’t say old mc Donald I still sleep with it as well as a grey fluffy blanket a well it’s really calming for me to just put the blanket over my head and rock because I don’t have many friends because of my social awkwardness it good to know there’s others like me
I'm going to be sad without Abby.😔
Come and get your love made me happier lol😊
I think Abbie knows what you were saying because when you were stressed at that moment she hit don’t worry about it With all the things in her iPad she chose that one She knows more then anyone thinks
Denise Brooks This has been my thought from DAY 1
Yes. She seems so so smart! If she was verbal, I just know that her vocabulary would be advanced, and her voice so calming.
