  • I was invited to run three days of training for the instructors and trainers of the Whistler Blackcomb ski school in 2018. This was a very honorable invitation as I regard WB as one of the best ski ski schools on the planet. In this first video you will see me talk about and share my ideas on the foot and body in skiing. I aimed to make the session one of guided discovery so bear with the the three videos in this series and take it with a grain of salt. There were chairlift rides with each person where some parts were clarified (no video taken) and also sections were Yas (cameraman) didn't have his camera on. I hope people enjoy the workshop session via youtube and someday get to ski with me in person. Skiing means so much to me. Teaching means so much to me. And learning about how our amazing bodies can move and adjust to make this wonderful sport a lifelong invigorating activity is my end goal here. Thanks Tom

I was just working on this "inside foot" sensing in a clinic at Snowbird. The sensations were always there but we're not naturally trained to pay attention to them. It really helps feel the snow and where you are in relation to it. Thanks Tom!

super important lessons here! it took me 25 years before I really was "in-tune" with my feet and how they were contacting the boot sole/ground. if I had this lesson sooner I would have progressed faster.

Braille skiing at Whistler? Soup du jour?... Pea Soup... proprioception... fog makes it easier to ignore just how steep it really is. Looking like a traffic cone makes sense there.

Geometry is tensioned by muscles to create stress tensors which resist flow gradient time dilations... counterbary

Dude... PTSD is real... PSIA=W lead examiner Finlay Torrance (says fuck and crap a lot with his gruff Scottish accent) wears the exact same egomanical red when examining examiners at exams. If you don't know the connection between this wardrobe scheme and the unending stream of vulgarity coming from it I strongly recommend you burn that out fit and damn soon because you are a good person and can not possibly want association with that kind of evil... do you?
