    Kathleen you should try out Korean toners! Brands like Klairs and Pyunkangyul are quite famous for their hydrating toners that are not as watery as typical toners. They have a slightly thicker consistency that I think you might enjoy especially for dry skin. Their ingredients are also extremely gentle and sensitive skin friendly. Anyway, I’ve been using Korean skincare for years and have been loving these two brands the most! Also an honourable mention about the brand Cosrx for anything AHA, BHA and acne related. Love you, Kathleen!

    • @carinao669

      I was going to make a comment on korean toners.
      I think you will like toners like Klairs supple preparation unscented toner, Etude House Soon Jung toner or Purito centella green level calming toner. These are moisturizing toners that restore your skin's pH balance after cleansing, and is not drying at all.

    Kathleen, please try a Korean or Japanese toner! Toners do not have to be drying, irritating, or astringent. Asian toners (also referred to as lotion in Japanese and skin in Korea) are extremely hydrating. I love the From Nature Age Treatment Essence, Hada Labo Premium Lotion, and Cezanne High Moist conditioner. Please pick one up!
    You any also enjoy essences, which are slightly lighter serums that offer both hydration and other anti aging, soothing, or brightening benefits. I would suggest the Tosowoong Green Tea Essence, the LJH Tea Tree Essence, or the Benton Snail Bee Essence.
    ♥️

      @Mira Parker do you have any recommendations for korean/japanese moisturizers for dry skin???!

    • @Lzero7
      @Lzero7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@allisonkeeney6590 I have dry skin as well, and I've been trying out different moisturisers to use for the past few years.
      My current favourites (that would not break the bank) are:
      1. Tony Moly's Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Cream for nighttime use. This is a rather heavy cream but it spreads out thinly and evenly, doesn't clog my pores.
      - Pros: Extremely hydrating, spreads easily, smells good.
      - Cons: The Green Tea scent is very strong, so if you do not like fragrances or are afraid that fragrances would cause irritation, this is not for you. The thick consistency may also throw some people off. But I personally like it because it feels like a "protective barrier" for my skin.
      2. Kao's Curel Intensive Moisture Cream for daytime and nighttime use. This is my current holy grail right now. It is a very, very hydrating cream but has the texture of whipped cream. It's amazing!
      - Pros: Very hydrating, extremely lightweight, non-fragranced (but a nice sweet scent lingers. idk how to describe it. it just smells like nice skincare products). After using, skin feels plump and bouncy
      - Cons: If your skin is extremely dry (I doubt anyone's can get drier than mine but you never know), this may be a tad bit insufficient for you. Good to pair with a moisturising toner/serum/essence.
      If you feel a little fancy and have a little bit of spare change for extra skincare indulgence, try using sleeping masks! They are more expensive but have tons of regenerative properties for when your skin rests at night. You generally do not need to apply tons of these every day - just for days when you feel extremely dry even after moisturising or before days when you have to look your best (like conferences or events where you are meeting important people).
      (and you can just use these alone for cheat days when you're too lazy to follow an entire routine. but always try to maintain a good skincare routine).
      The most famous one would be Laneige's Water Sleeping Mask.
      **NOT to be confused with clay/mud wash-off masks or hydrating sheet masks. These have separate usages and functions as different steps of your skincare routine.
      Then again, I've only used about 8 or 9 cream products the past 2-3 years. It takes me about 3-4 months to empty one tub of cream, so I'm still experimenting. Let me know how it goes for you! :D

    you should try the Pixi Glow Tonic and the Pixi overnight glow serum. i have very sensitive dry skin like you, and i always had to avoid toners in my skincare routine because they just irritated my skin so much. but i tried the glow tonic and it completely transformed my skin! the bumps i got from irritation went away within a week, and my skin always feels soft and smooth and moisturized. even after i shower and wash my face really good, that toner picks up a lot of extra dirt and purifies my skin and cleans out the pores. both of those products contain something called glycolic acid, which gently exfoliates the skin so you are always left with fresh new skin. i started off by only using the toner, but after using the overnight serum it just improved my skin even more. i usually apply the serum every other night, and if my skin is breaking out during that time of month ill use the serum every night. its been a lessing using those products! i hope you see this and try it out for yourself! i've recommended it to a few friends and they all have different skin types, but they all had beautiful results with the glow tonic so i feel like it's a very versatile product that could benefit anyone from sensitive skin to oily skin. i hope you are doing well kathleen love you!!

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fourth Ray Beauty...these products are AMAZING! Got a tiny sample on one of my orders. I didn't think anything of it. I was not going to try it on thinking it wasn't going to do anything for me like so many other products I've tried, but I had nothing to lose. I tried it and I was immediately impressed on how my skin felt. I've dealt with acne all my life and this was just unbelievably so good for my skin. I placed my order (my first lil bundle) and I can't speak highly enough of these products. I hadn't seen any reviews and thought I'd like to know what other peeps think of it. 🔆🔆🔆Based on the ingredients the toner is definitely NOT non-drying & isn’t a good idea for anyone w/ dry or sensitive skin. Most likely it was the culprit for the irritation...
    Edit: my prediction was right! Witch hazel & alcohol are both very drying & using them regularly is far different than occasional use of the San ingredients.
    🔆🔆🔆INFO RE: TONERS Re: toner being “needed”, it’s absolutely not. There are some toners that can definitely add something to a routine but their reputation of being “needed” to balance the skin it simply isn’t true & is truthfully complete BS. (Once upon a time, when all cleansers were stripping, there was some truth - at least in theory - to the idea of needing to rebalance the skin after cleansing, though in practice very few toners in fact did as such; today with the use of a well formulated non-stripping cleanser the need to rebalance skin after cleansing & before other skincare simply doesn’t exist.)
    That said, for anyone wanting to use a toner to add a little extra something - whether some added hydration, antioxidants, etc - to a routine I highly recommend Paula’s Choice’s toners, which unlike many on the market will add something beneficial to your routine rather than unnecessarily stripping something away & given how long a bottle will last the $20-25 (& often less w/ sales/ promos) price point is very reasonable. For those w/ drier skin the Skin Recovery toner is a fabulously nourishing but milky toner, the Moisture Balance is a similar but slightly more lightweight option, & Earth Sourced is a great very lightweight gel meets liquid texture that nearly any skin type could integrate into a routine for an extra boost of hydration & antioxidants; there are several others as well but as a normal to dry skin gal those are the three I use regularly & depending on the season. They can all be used w/ a cotton pad or simply w/ your hands - my preference - but I truly cannot recommend them highly enough.

    Kathleen! First of all, you are super great and I loved this video!!! Secondly, I don't want to be THAT guy, but I too have crazy dry skin and the toner I use is the Paula's Choice SKIN RECOVERY Enriched Calming Toner. It is really milky, not drying at all, and it is supposed to fight aging as well, which is a bonus! Just a suggestion in case you wanted to try one for dry skin.

Like for me, as a student, just started makeup, what I buy is just all the affordable brand. And I really appreciate how you wanted to upload videos three times a week even though you are so freaking busy. You are such an inspiration, you work hard and you have your own thoughts which I love it so much. Be yourself, enjoy ur life. Take ur time, give yourself a break, go on vacation. Anyway just wanna let you know, you are so beautiful inside and outside. Hope you’re loving ur life and it’s so good to have you.

    The Korean toners are really good for hydrating. I like the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, and it's good at giving a fresh, light hydration right after I wash my face before I put on moisturizer. It's also good for layering and doesn't feel heavy.

    Kathleen, you have fungal prone skin. Remember when you used the aloe vera and it worked? Aloe is antifungal. Most Vanicream products are fungal safe. Don't replace the ones that work.

      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Liz thank you for sharing that. I had acne and aloe Vera finally helped about a year ago. Then I used vanicream gentle face cleanser and the acne went away. You think it was fungal? If you don’t mind, could you share any other tips you may have that concerns skin that’s fungal prone.
      Thank you.

    • @BbGun-lw5vi
      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Liz hmmm. I just checked and the toner has Lactobacillus/Papaya Fruit Ferment Extract. I remember hearing that anything ferment feeds fungus so that may be the issue.

    • @ytuseracct
      @ytuseracct 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ninagomez4836 Kath had a flare up of fungal acne (something that resembles tiny pimples, like comedones, that itch) because she drank too much kombucha one time. Anti-fungal products and products with no ingredients that feed the malassezia fungus got rid of it. Look up fungal acne on the internet.

    • @ytuseracct
      @ytuseracct 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BbGun-lw5vi for me it's reducing stress, avoiding ingredients which feed the fungus, even in makeup. but the #1 remedy is eliminating dairy (except milk kefir) and reducing processed sugar. it's all in the tummy. if you have a weak GI flora and immune system, and you take too much antibiotics that kill the good bacteria in your gut you're susceptible to fungal issues. Kathleen has tons of GI issues as well and I suspect this is why she's prone to fungal acne. Not like the huge cystic acne some people have because their hormones are wack.
