Yes - I have changed out the board. Thanks for noticing - Dennis. PS the old board is still here. It is on my wall of fame

I wonder who makes this reel for Offshore Angler? I have several Offshore Angler graphite surf rods that I’ve used for almost 30 years. They are outstanding in every way. In the past I’ve had a few Offshore Angler Conventional reels that were quite nice. On this reel there must be some bearings in the handle and the line roller in order to have a total of 8. I would not like this reel because it has no AR override switch. I just don’t’ t want a spinning reel that doesn’t have that switch. The drag setup is amazing. Glad to get a chance to see this reel. Thanks Dennis!

I've got their Catmaxx cmx80 spinning reel and it to is a very nice quality reel. I believe it is made by a private contractor in Taiwan or possibly China I don't think any of the big names build Basspro's Catmaxx or Offshore Angler equipment despite rumors about Okuma ECT.

@@Yelladog78 I know more about Offshore Angler surf rods than their reels. I do know the two gold conventional reels I got years ago were outstanding. That was before the scourge of all these China reels.

I am not sure. I would like to know if anyone can add more on the source of manufacture, please do so. Thank you - Dennis

Screw that switch ! The reason they didn't put it on is because it's the single biggest problem w the anti reverse.

You're a life saver. I was battling with the axle, trying to unscrew it somehow. Thank you 😊 mine get stuck when the axle descends all the way down when rotating . I'm trying to fix it now. Any thoughts? Thank you

Is the reel getting stuck when the spool is on, but operating freely when the spool is removed? If that is the case, you need spool shim washers to be added on top of the click ratchet

@@2ndChanceTackle it gets stuck when it reach the bottom of the axle when rotating, with or without the spool. It's a tightline 3000 spinning reel. 🙃🙂🤔

The only other thing would be internal. You need to. check to make sure the crosswind block is seated over the stud not he crorsswind gear. If it is not in the slot, it will get trapped. Also check to make sure the slot in the block is not broken - Dennis

They are well made reels. I have one of these
and 2 of a similar model in every way but
the name. They are well made and the
internals are better quality than modern
Penn spinning reels. Harder alloy. I got
mine for free because they were broken
customer returns. They grease they use is
really bad and becomes hard in no time.
The downside is of course no repair parts
available at least to the best of my knowledge.

Actually you can buy repair parts through their repair center in Missouri

Armando, the conventional reels I got from them years ago were very fine. Offshore Angler has used that Sea Lion brand name for many years. Of course I like their graphite surf rods the most. You told me about getting those reels when they had been thrown away.

I liked what I saw. These reels are not cheap and cost about the same as a Penn Battle. They are nice quality. Thank Armando - Dennis
