That trunk latch is missing the spring, or it has broken. It is actually an easy fix the lever that you squeeze can manually be tilted forward that would need to be done each time before the trunk is closed. Pushing the leaver forward should allow the remote to actuate the switch as well.
Hey Rey...the cap displeases me as well. I have the same tank in my 2014 Mondeo. I found it easier to remove and replace once the engine is warmed up. They seem to get tight with age. I did eventually replace the cap with a new one and it was easy to remove cold or hot.

Yup. I had an '83 Phoenix and always kept a spare on hand. Don't know why they broke so often considering the engine was fairly gutless and the 2 trans mounts were stiff as hell. The mounts on the A bodies were much better for vibration isolation.

Always smilingly at your fabulous outlook Ray. Keep on doing that
Ray have you ever considered wearing a silicone wedding band at work? They are non conductive and you can’t get your finger stuck in any tight space. People in the trades have de-gloved, amputated or gotten zapped due to a metal ring. I stopped wearing one altogether while working.
It’s just a thought. Silicone rings are really cheap on Amazon.
Get some golf tees. They plug up small hoses really well.
Fuel pressure is likely the sensor at the right end of the rail. A REAL pita to reach the torx screw.
I replaced mine. Wasn’t too hard.
Good morning to you Raymond 👋and family, 👨👩👧👦it's Monday morning🤷 get the🧰😲 toolbox out BROTHER 👍
They looked like they've declined repairs for the last 10 years
Lmao
My question is, Why check on the 'check engine' light if you are just going to ignore it anyway? This is the kind of guy who sees the light, pops the hood and says, "Yep, The engine is still there" don't know why the annoying light is still on.
@@Bobo-ox7fj 😄😂🤣
That trunk latch is missing the spring, or it has broken. It is actually an easy fix the lever that you squeeze can manually be tilted forward that would need to be done each time before the trunk is closed. Pushing the leaver forward should allow the remote to actuate the switch as well.
Hey Rey...the cap displeases me as well. I have the same tank in my 2014 Mondeo. I found it easier to remove and replace once the engine is warmed up. They seem to get tight with age. I did eventually replace the cap with a new one and it was easy to remove cold or hot.
That top mount reminds me of the "dog bone" used on GM 4's in the mid 80s. That thing always broke. There was a replacement that used a hydraulic cylinder instead of rubber biscuits, but that too wore out over time.
Yup. I had an '83 Phoenix and always kept a spare on hand. Don't know why they broke so often considering the engine was fairly gutless and the 2 trans mounts were stiff as hell. The mounts on the A bodies were much better for vibration isolation.
@@patricknesbitt4003 I had an 86 Celebrity. Next to the Citation, the worst POS Chevy ever That bastard stranded me no less than six times when it wouldn't start due to a phantom intermittent electrical problem. I finally called a wrecker and got rid of it.
@@adotintheshark4848 If it was a 2.5 four banger it likely was the ignition module in the distributor. Common failure item.
@@patricknesbitt4003 it was a 2.5 and I replaced everything ignition-related. I believe it had a wiring harness fault and wasn't going to soend big bucks on basically a hooptie to figure it out.
A day without Ray would be a day without sunshine.. 🤣 Everyone don't forget to remember to have a great day! Greetings from Lake City 🌴🇺🇸😎
It's likely that the lower torque damper is missing, on those early 2010 3.2s they didn't come with them. The mounting brackets are still there and are quite easy to put in.
I was like must be the gearbox but was amazed when it was a broken engine mount...you just know what to look for in a car with weird sounds.
Welcoming back!
I found that golf tees made excellent 'blockers' for small rubber tubes.
Good stuff! Will remember that one
Was going to pick this up as my first car, but thinking of sticking with Japanese options instead since anything else doesn't seem very reliable.
Rob Zombie "living dead girl" playing in the background awesome.
Those micro switches on the trunk is known to go bad. Ford here in Europe use the same type on their Mondeo (Contour) and they are also known to go bad from time to time. On most Ford's there is a hidden key hole in event of that micro switch decide to not work. I think some Volvos has them as well.
Love from Volvo SWEDEN! no slacking :P
If the wrong tool works it becomes the right tool!
I always used golf tees to plug lines
That mount is also broken in my XC70 - the bottom one is as well. I have a spare, just need some time to install it...
It's going to be back again soon for the fluid filled engine mount right below that stabiliser mount. They only have like a 10 year life expectancy.
The upper engine mount is common on Volvo. I own three os these and really will not drive anything else.
Do you live in a hot climate? Ours is original and no mechanic has said a word yet going on 12 years hmm
@@rosen9425 Yes and no The Volvo shops in the locations I have been all agree on this. Also check in with the Volvo parts suppliers and you will be told that this is one of the high replaced parts. If you get the poly one then it will last next to forever. The rubber one really does fail a lot per the replacement part numbers from the various parts supply houses.
The interior of that car is rather stylish
Rob zombie in the background full 100000% respect!
one mount breaks the others will follow. the rubber at the tank fillerneck to tank do dry up and leak. beast to replace. Turbo engine acutated vacuum motor mounts want to leak and cause problems.
I have yet to see/work on S80 with 3.2L here in cold nordic country, so far I have only seen XC90 with 3.2L
the fob does not open the trunk on all volvos only the ones that have the powerd automatic opening. On the rest, you can unlock only the trunk by pressing that trunk button twice.
10:00 You did not use the wrong tool, and the proof is that the tool you used worked. 😁
Like the shop radio.
My 2008 Volvo V70 D5 is on 500k KM atm still going strong :D. however the never volvos with their VEA 4 cylinder 2.0 is pretty bad with Piston rings going bad at around 80k-100k Km. High pressure fuel pump eating up the crank and valve cover leakage
New Volvos are Chinese, not Swedish. Even worse than when Ford owned them. My 1990 240DL is now at 614,000 km.
@@michaeltutty1540 yea everything go much worse when geely got involed the 5 cylinder engine and the old b21 b20 and B230 was pretty much unkillable
@@michaeltutty1540
Research and Development is still located in Gothenburg, Sweden. It's a new VEA crap of tiny ass lawn mower engines every stupid manufacture has to pull out of their ass and just turbo the snot out of to make anything happen. I bet we'll see many cars have dumb and excessive cost in repairs all for the sake of climate hype and politically driven vision where zero emissions coercion is the new world order.
Yeah not a huge fan to say the least
7:06 oh my word 😡 oh you prankster 😂
I thinking you checked the other engine mounts? OK Ray another job done.
I think the vibration noise (grinding) from the engine mount is much better than that background "music" ?
Thanks again Ray, needed my morning fix
Ray you have to hold the button on the fob for the trunk to open
"That's not a nut, it's a part of this mount."
I broke the knuckle off a breaker bar trying to remove a [blind] bumper bolt making that very same mistake.
