Can-Am Ryker DIY Cold Air Intake $60

  • This is a little cold air intake that a buddy and I came up with, mostly my buddy. And I just modified it to make it my own.
    I personally find that the bike is louder when it's at speed and I'm definitely feeling a performance boost and MPG gain as well.
    I know the top air box is removed on the aftermarket setups, but from what I've read in the shop manual, the hole in the top box is actually there to help cool the engine so I'm happy to not remove it. The only other thing would be the diameter of the pipe in the top box is about two and a half inches and goes down to two inches, so you are losing diameter if you don't go with the full aftermarket kits that are available.
    But I'm very happy with it. I love the way it looks I love the fact that I didn't need to rip apart the whole bike to get it on there and I love the fact that it only cost $60.
    If you like this video please give me a like Thanks.

    Great video buddy keep staying innovative... I love seeing people come up with their own solutions and their own ideas.. In this world full of copycats we need people to show new ideas.. you did just that in this video.. Now let me know when you're ready to tune the bike and take more advantage of the added airflow.....
    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...

    I've seen lots of people say that you can't use the k&N air filter on the other side where the CVT transmission is.. The answer to that is yes you can.. Directly behind that is your CVT transmission belt spinning at a very high rate of speed and generating quite a bit of heat.. that little bit of oil residue,,,, if it sucks in any is not going to do anything but flick right off the belt.... I've tested one of those filters for 7,000 miles on that side of the bike with zero issues. I have torn the transmission completely apart and there is zero oil residue anywhere.. This is even after cleaning the air filter twice and re oiling it properly according to k&N specs.. If you look on Amazon they carry a recharge kit for the k&N filter.... You won't gain any horsepower or anything like that by using the filter on the CVT transmission side but you'll never have to buy another filter. That's literally the only benefit to it.. On the dyno we did not see any difference in belt temperature or transmission temperature regardless if it had the factory air filter or the k&N high flow filter... The transmission held the same temperature with both filters.. So no significant performance benefits or anything like that.. I run it on that side because I had one laying around and now I will never have to buy another filter for the bike... Hope that information helps you out...
    Keep up keep up the good work on your channel.. I hit the subscribe button..

How is the fuel consumption? after installing your modification how many miles per gallon does your Ryker do? Much appreciate your answer.

      attach the flange to the elbow. then go in from the left side and then up. remember that flange air pipe comes out slanted. So that's the way you want to enter.

    If you figure out how to do the other side to look the same as this side, I would like to see the video.

    • @wokeupmens
      @wokeupmens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing I can think to do that would be to remove the air box cover and then put a customized outlet over the part that holds the air filter inside the air box. Then attach a pip e and filter to that. When you open the other side, there is no little pipe flange that sticks out. So you would have to create your own.

    • @wokeupmens
      @wokeupmens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd need something like this, but obviously larger and customized to fit the opening of the inside of the air box.

    why not just use the 90 straight to the housing? would make air filter closer to bike not sticking out that much.

    • @wokeupmens
      @wokeupmens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try that if you like. But unless you have a heat shield the closer the filter is to the engine the warmer air it's going to collect. And the idea for it to be a "cold air". So unless you push it out more by adding another extension piece you're just going to be collecting a lot of warm air. But if you do try it let me know how it works. Right now I just have 2 x 45's on there.

      @@wokeupmens good point, didn't think of that.

    • @wokeupmens
      @wokeupmens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnBraman413 my buddy modified his with two 45° pipes, because like you he didn't want it sticking out as far. By taking the first connecting pipe that goes into the Ryker and angling it forward facing toward the front of the bike he was able to accomplish it. Now his air filter with two 45° angle pipes is right up against the riker and further up on the body fairing so it's not as close to the engine. It's definitely doable and if it's the look for functionality you want to accomplish say go for it.
      I actually just rode with him today and saw it for the first time, and really liked it, and I'm thinking about making the change myself. The problem is once I loosen up that top piece which is the hardest part to get on I don't want to have to deal with getting it on again lol. Like they say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
      I'm going to be posting some pictures and probably do a video of our ride today soon, so you'll be able to see it.

    I don't understand why people run such long pipe and curve the filter around. Run it like Harleys flat to the body of the bike. Basically add a flatter filter to the first tube before the coupler.

    Cold Air Intake🤔😲😂🤣 Lol
    It is Sucking air from the same place as the stock Intake.
    The purpose of a Cold Air intake is to draw cooler air from outside an engine compartment.
    The only reason it sounds different is because you don't have the sound dampening baffles anymore.
    For HP you cannot just add air you need fuel also. The bike is injected so a turner is required so you are not running Lean and destroying your engine 😉

    • @michaeliovani4487
      @michaeliovani4487 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bud do you even own a Ryker? Every aftermarket cai is designed like this - even the one by Treal. Second, you don’t need tuning. It’s suggested to maximize gains but not required, and if you’re that paranoid you can reset the ECU yourself.

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaeliovani4487 Yes we actually own 2 2019 Rallies.
      And you obviously didn't comprehend what I was talking about.
      Changing to this type of intake on a Ryker does Absolutely Nothing.
      No HP gain at all! You have to increase fuel also not just air.
