This is a poem (kauttuvam) dedicated to the auspicious sumangali (tirunilai) who danced (ADiya) in the hall (manram) of cidambaram (tillai) to the accompaniment of nandi making sounds like (ena) tA and tOm on his mRdangam, and nArada (nAradarum) singing (pADavE), and as the Sun (sUriyar) and the moon (candirar) share (pagarndiDa) their relationship as co-composers (bandham), the 108 (nUTReTTu) types (vagai) of the tALas in dancing (bharatam) come to be (AgavE)- including aspects such as dhrutam (duritam), laghu (ilagu), guru, plutam (pulitam) along with (uDan) kAkapadam, as her anklets (taNDu) dance (ADa) along with (uDan) AdisESa (sESan), and even the gods (vAnavarum) celebrated (koNDADa), when the loving (virumbiya) patanjali and vyAghrapAda (vyAgrama) submitted their request (vENDavE) to the undefeated (tOLAda) kALi (kALiyuDan) in the ancient (tollai) city of AlangADu!

Layam is a nightmare for many dancers that too if they don't have proper access to thaala classes ... the way kavithuvam is interspersed with thaala aspects and u beautifully showed it in thattu metti adavu is beyond a level 👌 👏... and ur generosity to allow people to perform this master piece is what makes me even more dumbstruck.... will I be able to dance under such a generous guru is what I dreaming now..... may God bless u in every aspect.... padhabi Charan charanam 🙏🙏🙏😥😥

I have learnt bharatnatyam for 8 years . but had to quit when I entered high school cuz of coaching classes and tuitions . I still love dance and I feel like its an escape from all the studies🤣😄

Thank you...its designed to be fast and rapid...its the tandava aspect of dance...meant to look like that...you can watch lasya aspects in other pieces..hope you like to explore..the world of dance is infinite!!

I have a small correction in the interpretation of the lyrics. The word bandham in this context means lyrics or poetry and not relationship or friendship.

Thank you. Well, I am trained in Tanjavoor, Vazhuvoor and a little Pandanalloor...and training never leaves your body and mind...my teachers were open to influences, so I guess now I dance a mix of all that inspires me. I never think of genres and style when I choreograph. As my Gurus Kalanidhi maami used to say...good dance is beyond these boundaries
