Virtual Le Mans 2023 was far from optimal! From my perspective as a driver the issues has not only ruined the race but the whole experience and spectacle. This is unacceptable also because teams have paid money to drive and drivers have put in thousands of hours to win this race. If they don't do something about this I am certain I will not be participating again.
With that said I want to thank the team for the hard work they put in and you guys for supporting and following the race!
    Thanks for your support🙏

Markus you`re absolutely right about saying "FIA, WEC really need to reconsider what platform they should the event" as the Virtual Le Mans series is great but if people keep complaining about disconnections happening within the game then they need to think "This has gone far enough with the issues we need to start changing some things" plus it was great to see you join our team for the event thank you so much👊

To be clear it's actually the SRO that determines the comercial rights deals for WEC, just like how the FOM owns and licenses F1 not the FIA. The FIA writes the rules and governs the championship, the SRO deals with the comercial side of things

As much as I'd love for this to be back on iracing, I just want a competent product to enjoy. There's no excuse to have the issues they have in 2023. Cyber security is a crucial part of any of these endeavors and so is just having a stable product. The part that WEC and Indycar particularly miss is that this is a crucial part of their fanbase and something that leads to you directly being able to measure yourself against the best in the world. It's like having the PGA tour play your local golf course. You can see exactly how much better the pros are and enjoy the sport even more. It's all such a waste and sets this hobby back because of it.

I saw someone on a forum somewhere else sum it up perfectly (also after people were critical on Max for calling this out).
This is NOT like having an engine faillure in real life, or having a 'sensor failure' or something of that nature. This would be like FIA//FOM not having the power grid ready for a night race in Singapore and all lights turning off. THAT is compareable.

New projects have single digit numbers on the game development. It's not a good place to work at all. They board of directors quit recently. Total disarray, with no man power what so ever now.

    Hello Markus,
Thank you for giving your insight view and feelings on how you experienced this event.
After the second red flag I stopped watching the official stream.
I’m a big Motorsport fan and besides watching real live events , love to watch sim racing on TH-cam and Twitch.
Also doing some sim racing myself, when I’m in my rig I feel like a real race driver and living my childhood dream of being a race driver like Lauda, Hunt, Senna, Prost and all other racing legends.
Do I agree on Max his statement, yes!
What is my opinion on what Romain said, there is something to say about his point of view. We all know that sometimes a real Le Mans car break’s down by a mail function sensor that cost €5,- and cost them a race finish or even worse the victory.
So a disconnect or a mail function on your own gear is a part of endurance sim racing.
But I think we can all agree that this time it wasn’t a simple disconnect, the server wasn’t stable and not safe enough for such a event.
Maybe the most frustrating thing was that the organization and racing platform weren’t admitting they screwed up big time.
    Kind regards.

      @soholmgaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@VishnuRajam4x4 , I know. He is there advisor. It’s more that we must accept in sim racing a disconnect can be seen as a part of this kind of racing. The amount of disconnects and unstable servers was the main reason we are still talking about it.
As a example if 160 drivers take part in a endurance race, I think 8 disconnect is excepted. That’s just 5% off the field.

I'm hoping they punish whoever leake the paswords, I forgot what vid, but I've seen it in other vi comments some streamers didn't blur out the passwords or server info. That's like getting keys to track gates IRL, hoping they change up how they do things. But how can you check every stream to ensure nobody is leaking info they, really, shouldn't be. On the other hand, if the server didn't crash when someone joined as a spectator, then RC should ideally be able to boot that unauthorize person and change up the passwords on the fly, I don't know if the server side allows that, but it seems to me evry year they get server issues.
I dunno what the solution is, either, require an verify streamers aren't leaking info? Fine the people who were? Blacklist them from events on security grounds? I unno
