One person has sung Valachi Vacchi in 6 speeds. Find it on TH-cam. Also in the 18th or 19th century, Sri Shatkala Govinda Marar sang in 6 speeds to Sri Thyagaraja. Sri Thyagaraja gave him the title of Shatkala, meaning 6 speeds.
It is indeed the stuff of genius and virtuosity. That said, anything beyond the 3rd speed is unlikely to improve the quality of the musical experience further
He might be a legend. Sahana is not a party trick. The musical integrity fails when the raga is played at immense speeds. The raga and the kriti itself is supposed to be played at slower speeds. Sad that even legends fails to understand so.
This is a varnam. Generally, one can play shatkalam for a varnam. Here Dr. L. Subramanyam played it in panchakalam. I believe he kept the integrity of the raga well. As the pace increases, the raga bhavam definitely is lost but he keeps a balance if you notice in the uttarangam.
This is indeed a masterpiece version of Sahana one could ever imagine! The Ultimate! Many thanks dear LS anna. Namaskaram.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Opening alapana brilliantly delineates Sahana. Very meditative and peaceful
Wow..wow..just wow...impossible to imagine...fingers are magical...wow...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
