Hamsadhvani (Raga) in Spain | Dr L Subramaniam

Hamsadhvani Ragam, (meaning "the cry of the swan") also spelled as Hansadhwani, is a rāga in Carnatic music. It is an audava rāgam. It is a janya rāga of the Melakartha raga, Dheerasankarabharanam but according to Hamsadhvani's prayoga or the way it is sung it is said to be the janya of Kalyani.

There are a few Raga's which I will listen in any form, vocal or instrumental. Ragas Kedar, Yaman, Hansadhwani, Malkauns, Aheer Bhairav and Darbari Kanada are a few of these.
Pandit-ji's rendition of the Alap is exquisite - the mood is instantly created. It is highly meditative. I might sound stupid but the Alap took me to a different time - it felt like I am listening to this beautiful music somewhere in ancient southern India in the court of some king, who loves and patronizes arts! :)
