An 1100D, 1300D, 600D and an 77D. So helpfull to check every now and then. So much to know and learn ... I pick up something new every time. So: tx so much!!

As someone who is just learning about photography, this was fantastic. I feel this video not only highlights the Canon features but you also explain/demonstrate what the features are used for. I am deciding on my first camera (what a decision) but whatever it is I promise the first thing I will do is turn off the beep. 😉. Thank you so much for not only this video but all the great ones I have watched. You and Chelsea and your team are great!!!

As a beginner photographer, I would really recommend purchasing Tony's book, Stunning digital photography. That really teaches you everything you need to know and will give you the knowledge necessary to discover photography for yourself.
The book helped me to understand key components of digital photography. It's brilliant !

Embarrassed to say I have had my T6 camera for years and never used it. All the menus and dials were overwhelming. I was use to my old fashioned SLR Canon. However, your video has relieved much of my anxiety and I am following along step by step. I know this video has been up for years, so please never take this video down as I am going through it slowly. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks! Thank you so much for such an informative and user friendly video.

While surfing utube for a good explanation of how to use my T5, I found you. What a big help you have been. The manual is way too confusing and can’t find what I’m looking for. I purchased mine in 2014 for a trip to the Grand Canyon, so I’m an amateur still. I want to take a family photo while at the beach next week simply bc professional photographers are way too expensive. So I’m gonna give this a shot.
    Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You just saved me additional hours of pouring over the manual and the 1300D for Dummies book. I was an amature photographer until the film and development got too expensive. Then when I tried to get back into the game, the menus in the digital cameras were just too difficult. I decided to try again and expected to spend lots of time understanding how my new camera worked, but you cut right to the chase. In less than a hour I now feel much more confident that I can once again be a respectable photographer. Now if I can just become competent using Lightroom, I'll be set. I'll be loading down your Lightroom book on to my tablet shortly.

Thank you for this video! I use the EOs 1200D! Im backpacking a lot and my pack with sleeping bag, tent, stove, food, water etc weights arround 12 kg, so have this light weight camera is a big plus! My old Nikon D 200 had 10 megapixels only and was far to heavy for back packing! This Canon has 18 mega pixels! And no matter what some folks say, it is not a bad camera at all, far more capable as only being a starter camera! Cheers!

I boughT a T3 a couple of years ago and was a little put off by all the settings. I’ve used it enough to understand what some of the Shooting Modes do and pretty much stopped there. I’ve been lucky and gotten some good shots and even do some basic editing on the computer like cropping, color and exposure correcting, again in the automatic modes. If you are like me, this video was super helpful by describing why, when and how the setting should be adjusted. Clearly there is a lot to know but this video was a great primer, especially sitting here with my camera and going through the steps, changing the setting and seeing the effect on the finished shot. I think I will download the ebook and try to learn more. Thanks for a great video and thumbs up 👍

For me this is not so much of a beginner video, I just got a Cannon Rebel T6 I have a Cannon Power Shot and it took me ages to learn it.
But you had a lot of great information on how to shoot birds such as hummingbirds and blurring the background and other other features and you didn’t go through them at the speed of light to where I didn’t understand anything.. I think with practice I’ll probably get better. Thank you for the video.

Loved this tutorial. It was the easiest explanation I found for setting up back-button focus. One note, however: At 19:40 you refer to the custom self-timer as being for setting a custom amount of time. That isn't exactly true. The number in this mode is the number of exposures to take after a 10 second delay. This is super handy for taking group shots where you want to be in the picture, or where you want to do some astrophotography without having a 2 second delay between each shot.

I can't recommend the back focus button enough. I rented a t7i and it didn't have it the back focus turned on. I was fighting the camera's auto-focus so much I had to turn off the auto focus. (it was one of those things where it would get the right focus and go, no that's not it and try again rather than just snapping the picture) . After that experience I came back to this video and set the camera to use the back focus button thus a peace treaty between me and the camera was signed. Thing is this being a rental I have to remember to turn it off or the person after me will think the AF is busted in manual mode. This setting needs to be in the normal menus. Also, what I love about your video is that big tv behind you. I can fast forward through to see what part of the camera you are talking about. Looking at the t7i and the t6 that you are doing the tutorial on it looks like they went back on the t7i to alot of older set ups from the earlier t2i. The menus are radically different as well, but still some what in the same spot.

That is the precise problem I'm having, no back button focus. The last menu only has two choices related to the WiFi. I can't figure it out.

This thing is all you need to make good pictures for most subjects, I still have my 1100D, it is great. I would buy the body seperate and buy the 18-55 IS version for it, the lens it comes with does not have IS, for video that isn't fun. Put that 24mm pancake on it and shoot it at f/4.0 and people will think you're shooting with a $4000 camera and L lens, razor sharp, it is crazy how sharp that little lens is at the right aperture, always amazed by it.
